Our playground program got
away to a booming start last
Tuesday with a record attend-
ance for the week of 62 child-
ren. As far as I know this is an
all-time high.
We have had very good crowds
at the pool for the past two
weeks because of the unusual
warm weather which we have
had, I hope it holds because of
the children.
In baseball the juveniles have
done very well. They dropped a
squeaker to Hensall, their first
game, by a score of 5-4 all
Hensall's runs were un-earned
because of some very poor de-
fensive play by the Lucanites.
The next two games they won
from Listowel by scores of 11-9
and 16-6 as they started to click
as a team. These boys have not
had a practice this year. I'm
sure that, if they would get out
and do this, that they would
have a very good chance of go-
ing all the way in the OBA play-
offs.
Our pee wees and bantams are
doingfairly well considering that
we have a lot of pee wees play-
ing bantam and a lot of novices
playing pee wee. They haven't
won a game as yet but they are
improving as time goes.
We are wondering if any of
the men of the community are
interested in joining a men's
softball house league for the
rest of the season now that we
have lights here at the centre.
If so please get in touch with
me or Harry Wraith.
