Must be eighteen
to drive in NY
Is there a driver under 18
years of age at YOUR house? If
there is, don't count on his help
for any vacation driving you're
planning to do in New York State.
The Ontario Department of
Transport has this word of warn-
ing for drivers planning to travel
south of the border . . . an
Ontario licence is not valid in
New York State when the holder
of the licence is only 16 or 17
years old.
The vehicle and traffic laws
of that jurisdiction require that
for a non-resident licence to be
valid in the state, the holder
must at least have reached his
18th birthday.
And a further word of caution,
if you are not going to have any
help with the driving, you'll be
safer if you plan your trip in
short distances with plenty of
time for rest stops along the
way.
