Friends fete bride
at many functions
Miss June Munn, whose mar-
riage to John Jacobi takes place
Saturday in Hensall United
Church has been honored at a
number of prenuptial events.
The bride-elect was honored
by her mother Mrs. Beatrice
Munn at a trousseau tea at their
home. Guests were received by
the bride-elect, her mother and
mother of the groom-elect, Mrs.
Harvey Jacobi.
The tea table covered with a
lace cloth was centered with a
floral arrangement of pink car-
nations and white mums. Pour-
ing tea were the bride-elect's
grandmother Mrs. Ida Munn,
Hensall, and Mrs. Thos Drover,
Cromarty. Also pouring tea were
Mrs. Don McLeod, Ailsa Craig,
Mrs. Earl Drover, London, Mrs.
Wm. Brintnell, Cromarty, and
Mrs. Andrew Houston, Egmond-
ville. Serving guests were Miss
Patricia Harris, Miss Ruth Ann
Coleman and Miss Janice Wright.
Showing trousseau and other
gifts were Miss Elda Wall, Miss
Margaret Jean Russell, Miss Ei-
leen Garrett and Miss Joyce
Munn.
Prior to the tea Miss Munn
was honored at a number of
showers. A community shower
was held for neighbors and
friends in Chiselhurst Church.
Hostesses were Mrs. Jack Brint-
nell, Mrs. Russell Brock and
Miss Patricia Harris.

Native of area
dies in Florida
Funeral services for the late
Alex M. Doig, were held Friday,
July 1 at St. Petersburg, Fla.
Mr. Doig 81, died at St. Peters-
burg, Fla. Wednesday, June 29.
He was born in Tuckersmith,
where he lived for many years
studying law with his uncle, the
late William Doig of Kippen.
For many years he worked on
the Immigration Force at De-
troit, retiring to St. Petersburg
in 1955.
His wife predeceased him in
1956, also his only son. He was
an uncle of Mrs. Harry Caldwell
of Hensall.
Pair celebrate
40 years wed
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Dilling
celebrated their 40th wedding an-
niversary Wednesday, July 6 and
in honor of the occasion were
entertained by their family to a
dinner at Monetta M e n ar d' s
Grand Bend.
Attending the celebration were
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Dilling,
Wendy and Bruce, Sarnia and Mr.
and Mrs. Allan Olson, London.

aunts of the bride-elect, honor-
ed her with a shower at the home
of Mrs. Alex Munn, Hensall.
A dinner was given by Miss
Margaret Munro at her home in
London. Presentations were
made to the bride-elect by the
staff of Byron Northview Public
School in London and her Sunday
School class at Chiselhurst.
Following rehearsal Friday
evening, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey
Jacobi will entertain the bridal
party at their home,

on passed away July 6. He was
the husband of the former Agnes

Music. She is a pupil of Mrs.

weeks with his brother-in-law

meet on farm
Eighty descendants of the late
Duncan MacLean gathered at the
farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Ro-
bert MacLean of Hensall Sunday,
July 1Q to celebrate 107 years
of continuous MacLean owner-
ship.
Following a program of sports
and a hay ride a turkey smorgas-
bord climaxed the day.
Guests were present from La-
Chute, Que. Pittsburg, Penn. De-
troit, Mich. Barrie, Hamilton,
St. Catharines, Burlington,
Brampton, Landon, Goderich,
Seaforth, Exeter, Mitchell, and
Hensall.
Mrs. Alvin Taylor of Hensall
spent last week vacationing at a
cottage at Port Bruce.

Betty Beer, six-year-old
daughter of Mr. & Mrs. George
Beer, fell while playing Monday
fracturing her right arm. She
was admitted to South Huron
Hospital, Exeter, for x-rays.

For their wedding trip to Lake
Erie area the bride wore a dress
of blue and white linen, with
accessories in white and pastel
blue coat,
They will reside in Hensall.

The McArthur reunion was held
at Riverview Park, Exeter, Sun-
day July 10 when 50 attended
from Hensall, Exeter, Zurich,
Blenheim, Kitchener, Ingersoll,
London, California and Toronto.
Sports were enjoyed under the
direction of Mrs, Jim McArthur
and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Manzer
of Ingersoll.

The 27th annual reunion of the
Stuart Smillie clan was held at
Lion's Park, Seaforth, Saturday
July 9. The members enjoyed
a lunch at noon followed by visit-
ing, swimming and games. A
dinner was served later. Many
of the clan attended from Huron
County while others came from
Kingsville, St. Catharines, Tor-
onto, Detroit and Hamilton.
