Hats made during a millinery
course were modelled by Mrs.
William Do ugal 1, Mrs, Bruce
Tuckey and Mrs. William Row-
cliffe at the Hurondale WI meet-
ing held in Caven church last
Wednesday evening.
The motto "Mother has as
much right to drive from the
front seat as father has to cook
from the dining room table" was
discussed by Mrs. Lloyd Hender-
son. Mrs. Andrew Hamilton gave
a review of the book "Take My
Hands", Mrs. Wilfrid Shapton,
convener of home economics and
health, chaired the program
which also Included piano solos
by Carol Shapton and vocal solos
by Kathy Rowe.
Roll call was answered by
naming a household task "you
would like to see a man do".
President Mrs. Mac Hodgert con-
ducted the business, A committee
of Mrs, Hugh Love, Mrs. William
Rowcliffe and Mrs. Lloyd Hen-
derson were named to set up the
exhibit at Exeter Fair and a don-
ation of five dollars was voted
for prize money.
Hostesses were Mrs. Harry
Dougall, Mrs. Edna Passrnore,
Mrs. Harry Snell, Mrs. Ben Case
and Mrs. Harold Patterson.
There will be no meetings in
July and August.

Pledge vows at Zurich
In a setting of white mums
and peonies and candelabra in
the Evangelical UB Church, Zur-
ich, Norma Jean Geiger became
the bride of Kenneth James Gem-
mell with Rev. A. M. Amacher,
Gowanstown officiating.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Geiger,
Zurich, and the groom's parents
are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gem-
m ell, Kippen.
Soloist was Mr. Clair Zur-
brigg, Kitchener, who sang 0
Perfect Love and The Wedding
Prayer. He was accompanied by
Mrs. Milton Oesch, who presided
at the organ console.
Given in marriage by her
father the bride wore a floor-
length gown of white satapeau.
The bodice was highlighted by
a shallow scoop neckline, three-
quarter sleeves and fitted waist.
The sheath skirt was gently con-
trolled while the entire gown
from neckline to a cummerbund
effect at the waist and to the
bottom of the skirt was strewn
with appliques of delicate Chan-
tilly lace. The main center of
attention was focussed on the
detachable chapel train cascading
from a large bow at the back
waist. A rosette headpiece held
her fingertip veil of silk illusion.
She carried a cascade of pink
roses intertwined with a shower
of white mums and ivy.
Miss Ruth Geiger was her
sister's maid of honor. Brides-
maids were Miss Margaret
Geiger, sister of the bride, and
Miss Barbara Gemmel', sister
of the groom. Miss Nancy Scafe,
niece of the bride, was flower
girl. The attendants were dressed
alike in floor-length gowns of
pale aqua crystal charm with
gently scooped necklines and
gathered trains floating from a
bow at the waistline. They car-
ried cascades of white feathery
mums and ivy.

burgh, Penn., spent the holiday
weekend with her parents, Mr.
& Mrs. Allan Westcott.
Miss Margaret McTaggart,
Toronto, is visiting Mrs. J. H.
Jones and they are spending two
weeks at the Jones' summer
home, Grand Bend.
Mrs. Grace Downing, Chilli-
wack, B. C., is a guest with
Mr. & Mrs. Clark Fisher and
other relatives.
Mr. & Mrs. Tom Vanden,
Bosch, Gary and Cathy, Burling-
ton spent the weekend with Mr.
& Mrs. H. DeVries and family.
Mrs. Cecil Rowe returned
home after spending several days
with Mr. & Mrs. Frank Mac-
Kenzie, Lucknow.

Centralia, and Mrs. Ruth Gaiser,
Crediton, were in Nashville,
Tenn., with the coffee Club of
CKSL where they attended the
Grand Ole Opry.

Aquilina of Ottawa attended a
garden party given by HisExcel-
lency Governor General and
Madame Vanier at their resi-
dence Saturday, June 25.

groom.
The bride's mother chose for
her daughter's wedding a dress
of deep pink crepe with matching
satin hat and white accessories
and white corsage. The groom's
mother wore blue organza over
flowered satin with white acces-
sories and pink corsage.
For travelling the bride donned
a navy dress of Swiss shantung
with lace jacket, black patent
accessories and corsage of pink
Sweetheart roses.
The couple will reside at RR 2
Kippen. The bride is a graduate
of London Teachers' College and
the groom graduated from WOAS,
Ridgetown.
A trip to Nassau followed the
marriage of Patricia Ferguson
and Ron Vercruyssen in James
Street United Church, Saturday,
June 25 at 3:30 pm with Rev.
R. S. Hiltz officiating.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Ferguson
Exeter, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Vercruyssen, RR 2 Blyth, are
parents of the groom.
Baskets of turquoise and pink
gladioli and turquoise tapers in
candelabra formed the b a c k-
ground for the ceremony. Robert
Cameron played the wedding mu-
sic and accompanied the soloist,
Mrs. Dan McLeod, Exeter, who
sang Lord's Prayer and I'll Walk
Beside You.
Given in marriage by her fath-
er the bride wore a floor length
gown of white organza with long
sleeves and a chapel train fall-
ing from the waist. She carried
a white Bible crested with pink
miniature carnations and red
roses with streamers.
Miss Doris Ferguson, Exeter,
was maid of honor for her sister,
gowned in turquoise organza in
floor-length with train falling
from the shoulders. She carried
a cascade of pink carnations and
variegated flowers. Bridesmaids
were Miss Josephine Westlake
and Miss Beth Chalmers, both
of Exeter, dressed similarly to
the maid of honor.
Gerry Wilhelm, Dashwood, was
best man and ushers were Don
Ferguson and Eric Kints.
A reception was held in the
Exeter Legion Hall where the
bride's mother received guests
in a pink lace gown and corsage
of white roses and pink minia-
ture carnations. The groom's
mother chose a turquoise linen
suit with pink rose and white
miniature carnation corsage.
The bride travelled in a two-
piece white and blue cotton knit
suit with red rose corsage.
The couple will reside at RR 1
Exeter.
BRIDE HONORED
Prior to her marriage the
bride was honored at several
showers. Mrs. C. Ersman and
Pam entertained at a kitchen
shower by the neighbors.
Mrs. L. Stanlake, and Mrs. G.
Wilhelm were hostesses at a mis-
cellaneous shower and members
of the Legion Auxiliary also tend-
ered the bride a miscellaneous
shower. Arranging it were Mrs.
Robert Wragg, Mrs. Garnet Ship-
man, Mrs. Eric Heywood, Mrs.
Gerald Lawson, Mrs. Walter Ro-
maniuk and Mrs. Andy Bierling.
Relatives of the bride gathered
at the home of Mrs. W. Ferguson,
Exeter. Mrs. R, Ferguson and
Mrs. G. Gaiser entertained at a
miscellaneous shower.
Mrs. Norman Ferguson held a
tea in her daughter's honor the
Saturday prior to the wedding.
She was assisted by her daughter,
Doris and Miss Josephine West-
lake.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Laverne
Glanville will make their home
in Crediton following their honey-
moon spent at Manitoulin Island,
The couple were married in a
double ring ceremony in Credi-
ton United Church Saturday, June
25 at 2;30 pm with Rev. R. S.
Hiltz officiating.
The bride is the former Sharon
Marie MacDonald, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
MacDonald, RR 1 Crediton and
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Glanville,
RR 1 Exeter, are parents of the
groom.
Baskets of pink and white glad-
ioli formed the setting for the
wedding and Mrs. Robert Graham
played the wedding music and
accompanied the soloist, Miss
Kathy Rowe, Dashwood, who sang
The Wedding Prayer and 0 Pro-
mise Me.
Given in marriage by her fath-
er the bride wore a traditional
gown of nylon organdy over rayon
taffeta. The fitted bodice was of
acetate and nylon lace with scal-
loped skirt panels falling from it.
The lilypoint sleeves were of
nylon lace and dainty lace flowers
trimmed the neckline. An upper-
waist veil of nylon tulle flowed
from a rhinestone tiara. She
carried a cascade of white butter-
fly and pink Delight roses.
Maid of honor was Miss Elea-
nor Wein, RR 2 Crediton, in a
street-length dress of white ray-
on and nylon lace over pink
rayon taffeta. The A-line empire
waist was accented by a pink
satin bow. A self-fabric rose
held her short veil of pink tulle.
She carried a cascade of pink
gladioli with white centres.
Bridesmaids, Miss Anne Camp-
bell, RR 3 Blyth, and Mrs. Den-
nis MacDonald, Crediton, 'were
gowned similarly to the maid of
honor.
Lorne Turnbull, Exeter, was
best man and ushering guests
were Dennis MacDonald, brother
of the bride, and Donald Glan-
ville, brother of the groom.
A reception was held in Credi-
ton Community Centre where the
bride's mother received guests
in a turquoise blue dress with
white accessories and the
groom's mother chose pink linen
dress with pink lace jacket and
white accessories.
The bride travelled in a three-
piece pink suit of cotton boucle
with white accessories.
Kinettes fete
math students
The last meeting for the sea-
son of Exeter Kinettes was held
at the home of Mrs. Gib Dow
with each one barbecuing her
own steak.
Pen and pencil sets were pre-
sented to the top boy and top girl
in each grade 8 class in Exeter
Public School for the highest
marks in mathematics. Receiving
the awards were Ruth Snider,
David Hunter, Katherine Hall and
Bruce Simpson.
A letter was received and read
from the club's adopted boy, Lam
Kan Kee.
The draw donated by Mrs. Ed
Hearn was won by Mrs. Claire
Hoffman.
The amount of ice attain pro-
duced in Ontario in a year would
make a brick the area of a foot-
ball field and as high as a twenty-
one-storey apartnlent building.
Will live in London
Mr. and Mrs. Terence Nelson Henry were married in Granton
United Church Friday, June 17. The bride is the former Margaret
Elaine Spence, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Spence, RR 6
St. Marys. Rev. G. H. Merkley officiated. The honeymoon was spent
at Sandusky, Ohio.
