Celebrates 93rd birthday
Hugh Norris Sr., of Kippen observes his 93rd birthday on July 7th.
He is seen seated in the chair, In this four generation group are also
his son, John Norris of Fullerton, the latter's son, Ivan Norris of
Fullerton and then the fourth generation, four-year-old Bruce Norris.
Mr, Norris Sr., lives alone and Is In good health. Besides his son he
has four daughters: Mrs. Arnold Westlake of Cromarty; Mrs. Eva
Parker of London; Mrs. Frank Pinder of Staffa; Mrs. Alden Williams
of Mitchell. There are also 35 great-grandchildren.
Top Hensall students receive awards
Hensall Kinette Club president, Mrs. William Fuss and vice president, Mrs. James Hyde flank the
top boy and girl student in grade Sat Hensall Public School to each of whom was presented a $25 scholar-
ship. The top girl was Donna Lynn Forrest and top boy, Robert Towton.

The members of Hay Town-
ship School Area Board and their
wives entertained the teaching
staff, their wives and husbands
to a steak barbecue at Hay Town-
ship Park Wednesday evening,
June 29.
Chairman of the Board, Ian

made the presentations of table
lamps to retiring teachers Mrs.
Mary Haugh, and Mrs. Albert
Shirray.
Each class room of Hensall
Public School held a party at
the school Wednesday afternoon
when prizes were awarded and
lunch enjoyed. Students in Grade
8 presented their teacher Prin-
cipal Robert Reaburn with an
electric alarm clock, the pre-
sentation being made by Debbie
Anderson.

Mrs. Alfred Moffatt attended
the graduation exercises of her
grandson David Moffatt Monday
afternoon at Lambeth Public
School. He was valedictorian of
his class and received an award
of $25 from Haskett Motors Ltd.
The pastoral charge of Kippen-
Brucefield Bible school com-
mences Monday July 4 at Bruce-
field. July 10 there will be a
special service given by mem-
bers of the vacation school and
held at Brucefield.

mer months with Mrs. Routzon's
sister, Mrs. A. Moffatt.

pital, London, where she was a
patient for two weeks having
undergone surgery.

have rented the property of Mrs.
Archie Noakes on Queen Street.
Cpl. C.K. Harrison, Mrs. Har-
rison, Barbara and Steven, of
Summerside, P.E.I. are on vaca-
tion for two weeks with the lat-
ter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
liam Smale and Sharon, and other
relatives. Cpl. Harrison has been
posted to Camp Borden where he
will teach electronics.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lewis of
Sarnia, left Wednesday, June 29,
by jet on a teachers' flight for
the British Isles and the Contin-
ent of Europe.
Miss Suzanne Kyle, a graduate
of Goderich Business College,
has accepted a position in the
office of Dutch Laundry and Dry
Cleaners, London.
Mr. Don Kyle, on the staff of
the Bank of Montreal, Hamilton,
was a week end visitor with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Byron
Kyle.

Mrs. Irene Finlayson who fell
at her home and fractured sever-
al ribs was treated at South
Huron Hospital, Exeter, and re-
turned to her home Tuesday.
Mrs. Felix Boogemans of Bur-
lington is holidaying with her
mother, Mrs. Pearl Passmore.
Visitors for a week with Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas Kyle Sr. were
Mr. Simon Kipfer, a brother of
Mrs. Kyle's, and Mr, and Mrs.
Mervin Kipfer, a nephew, from
Minnesota, USA. First visit to
Canada for Mr. and Mrs. Mer-
vin Kipfer, they were thrilled
with the country and its beauty.
They also enjoyed touring Nia-
gara Falls and visited in St.
Catharines.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Shorthouse
and family, St. Catharines, and
Mr. Austin Deitch, also of St.
Catharines, were week end visi-
tors with Herb Hedden.
Succeeds father
as PS custodian
Jack Consitt, Hensall, received
the appointment this week as
custodian of Hensall Public
School. There were several ap-
plications for the position.
His father, Mr. Roy Consitt,
held the same position for 10
years resigning recently.
Car rolls over,
barber injured
Joseph L. Flynn, local barber,
is resting comfortably in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London, with
a fractured leg sustained when
his car rolled over in a ditch
near Zurich Saturday. He was
alone in the car. He was taken
to the hospital by Westlake Am-
bulance, Zurich.
The accident happened one and
a quarter miles south of Zurich,
and one-half mile east of the
Goshen Line in Hay Township.
OPP W.G. Glassford of Ex-
eter Detachment, who investiga-
ted, stated damages to the car
would be $800.
