Hibbert SS 3 held the annual
school picnic on the scho ol
grounds Tuesday evening June
28 commencing with a picnic
supper at 6:30 pm,
After supper Bob Norris, board
member called the teacher Mrs.
Edna Bell to the front and an
address of good wishes was read
by Linda Moore with the pre-
sentation of an arm chair being
made on behalf of the section by
Nelson Pullman and Bill Camer-
on. Mrs. Bell thanked everyone.
She will be teaching at Clinton
CFB school this fall.
There were over 100 present
and a full line of sports was
conducted with Mr. & Mrs. Har-
old Parsons, Mr. & Mrs. Reg
Elliott and Mrs. Bill Taylor in
charge,
Canadian Forces Headquarters
announced recently the promo-
tion to Flight Lieutenant of four
officers stationed at Canadian
Forces Base Centralia. They are
J. Butterfield, B. L, Davidson,
0, G. E. Levey and B. E. Swan.
F/L Butterfield of St. Thomas
enlisted in the RCAF in 1946
after completing his high school
education at the St. Thomas Col-
legiate and was posted to Cen-
tralia as an aero-engine tech-
nician. He has been an instructor
at Camp Borden, served at
Greenwood, N.S. with Maritime
Command and North Bay with Air
Defence Command. At the pre-
sent time he is an instructor
with the CentralOfficers' School.
111., Butterfield is an ardent
marksman, and was a member
& Mrs. Lawrence Beckett
and girls were Friday guests
with. Mr. & Mrs. Ray KeiZer
and family of Embro.

F/L B. E. Swan of Westlock,
Alberta, joined the RCAF (ROTP)
and graduated from the Univer-
sity of Alberta with his bachelor
of mechanical science degree in
1963. He served with air trans-
port command at RCAF Station
Namao, Alberta, as an aircraft
servicing officer and reported to
central officers' school as an
aero engine instructor in August
1965, An ardent hockey player,
he was a member of the Centralia
base hockey team last season.
F/L Swan is married to the
former Evelyn Rife of Westlock,
Alberta and is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. H. T. Swan of Westlock.
F/L Swan, his wife and daughters
reside at Huron Park, Centralia.

graduated from the University
of Ottawa with a bachelor of
commerce degree and enlisted
in the RCAF in 1963. He com-
menced pilot training and upon
graduation reported to the air
navigation school, Winnipeg,
Manitoba as a staff pilot. Prior
to his present position at prim-
ary flying school at Centralia,
he completed the flight instruc-
tion school course at Portage
la Prairie, Manitoba.
F/L Levey is married to the
former Diana de Berry of Ottawa.
They reside at Huron Park, Cen-
tralia. F/L Levey is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Levey of
1323 Avenue Road, Ottawa, On-
of the Canadian Bisley Team in
1964. He is married to the form-
er Joan Paisley of Worcester,
Mass, and they have 3 children.
They reside at Huron Park, Cen-
tralia. F/L Butterfield is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. J. Q. Butter-
field of 29 Oliva Street, St. Thom-
as, Ontario.
File Barry Davidson of Sud-
bury, enlisted in the RCAF in
the ROTP and graduated from
the University of Toronto in 1563
with his bachelor of applied Sci-
ence. Prior to his reporting to
Central Officers' School in 1965
he was the aircraft engineering
officer at RCAF Station Gimli,
Manitoba.

The closing of the term picnic
for SS 5 Hibbert was held June
27 with a large crowd in attend-
ance, Supper was enjoyed, follow-
ed with sports, indoor concert
and films of the British Isles as

patient died. As a result, the idea
of blood transfusion therapy was

a five day session in Cromarty
WI HEARS HEALTH NURSE
Mrs. Tom Laing was hostess
for the home economics and
health meeting of the Staffa Wo-
men's Institute held Wednesday
evening, June 29.
Guest speaker for the evening
was Mrs. Barry, public health
nurse for Perth County. She gave
an account of a day with a county
health nurse, telling what Inter-
esting work her day involved.
She also explained the newly
organized County Health Unit
which is to begin this month.
She closed with a question and
answer period. Mrs. Barry was
thanked and presented with a
memento by Mrs. Gerald Agar.
Mrs. Garnet Taylor presided
for the meeting and commented
on the motto ,,The essentials of
life are something to do, some-
thing to love and something to
hope for". There were 22 present
and roll call was answered by
',Something money can't buy".
This year in preparation for
Canada's centennial the Institute
members are learning all they
can about Canada, and, with this
in mind, Mrs. Carter Kerslake
presented the history of New-
foundland. Mrs. Tom Scott fa-
vored with a solo accompanying
herself on the auto harp.
Each member was asked to
bring a suitable dini n g table
centre arrangement from garden
flowers. These were judged by
Mrs. Barry with Mrs. Tom
Laing's centre piece of yellow
roses chosen best.
As her special feature Mrs.
Garnet Taylor displayed a cook
book which had been given to her
grandmother 100 years ago.
Mrs. Carter Kerslake presided
for the business and the decision
was unanimous to sponsor the
Institute's Chinese girl for an-
other year.
The directors are to be in
charge of the family picnic to
be held in Exeter park July 27
with Mrs. Cameron Vivian and
Mrs. Gordon Hoggarth to look
after the sports.
The Institute plan to attend
the Sound of Music at the High-
land Theatre in London as a group
early in August and Mrs. Lloyd
Miller and Miss Olive Speare
are planning a bus trip for later
in August.
Mrs. Carter Kerslake report-
ed on the township's centennial
plans.
The next regular meeting is to
be held Sept. 28.

donald College, Quebec, were re-

Three airmen at Canadian
Forces Base C entralia were pro-
moted to the rank of Corporal on
a recent promotion list published
by Canadian Forces Headquart-
ers.
Cpl. Terence Davidge CD, of
Wynndel, B.C. has been serving
with the RCAF since 1956 as a
weather observer. He has filled
positions at Gimli, Man. and
Trenton, Ont. before reporting
to Centralia in 1965. He pre-
viously served with the Canadian
Army during the Second World
War, and saw action with the
United Nations in the RCN in the
Korean conflict.
Cpl. Davidge is married to the
former Roselle Williams of Vic-
toria, and they reside in Huron
Park with their family of three.
Cpl. Murdoch Fraser CD, of
Inverness, N.S. enlisted in the
RCAF in 1951 and since that
date has served as a fire fighter
in various units in Canada and
England. Prior to his reporting
to Centralia he spent a tour at
Churchill, Manitoba.
Cpl. Fraser is married to the
former Audrey Chamberlain of
St. Johns N,B. and they reside
in Huron Park with their son and
daughter.
Cpl. Joseph Morency CD, of
Quebec City enlisted in the RCAF
in 1953 and has served in his
capacity as Steward at various
Air Force units in Canada, in-
cluding Camp Borden, Clinton,
Ontario, Chatham, N.B. andleloi-
sie, P.Q. Prior to his reporting
to Centralia in 1961 he was sta-
tioned at Aylmer, Ontario.
Cpl. Morency is married to the
former Marie Pare of St. Roch de
Quebec and together with their
two sons reside in Huron Park,
Centralia.

SS 14 Stanley invited SS 10 and
SS 7 to a field day Friday June
24. The humid day started with
the events and ended with the
baseball games.
At the end of the day everyone
was proud of the ribbons they
had won. After counting the points
of each of the schools SS 14 with
the most points won the crest.
