over past week
The Exeter Greys dropped
a pair of games in Huron Ladies
softball play over the past week.
In St. Marys Saturday the locals
were trounced 23-9 and were on
the short end of a 7-2 count Tues-
day to Brucefield on the Exeter
diamond.
In Tuesday's loss, D a rl en e
Snell and Ann Cronyn were the
only Exeter gals to cross the
plate, both in the fifth. Betty
Graham tossed the win for Bruce-
field and collected three hits at
the plate.
Pat Down was on the Greys'
mound in the loss to St, Marys
and Sherry Robinson toiled a-
gainst Brucefield.

third. Dick Bennett was the win-
ning pitcher and Jack Fuller toll-
ed in the losing cause.
LITTLE LEADS LANES
Lyle Little was the big gun as
the Lanes downed Centralia 14-6
Monday evening. Playing at
shortstop, Little drove out two
triples and a double and reached
base on two other occasions on
errors. Gord Slaght coming into
the game in the fourth as a relief
hurler for starter Sayers slam-
med a long home run in the sixth.
Ron Bogart added a triple and
single to the winning cause.

MARTENE REUNION
The fifth Martene reunion was
held at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Marlene and family June
26. Seventy-five were present.
Contests and games were con-
ducted by Barbara Bern and Shir-
ley Marlene.
Special prizes were given to

Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Bearss and
family, P ort Colborne; lucky
plate, Fred Dixon; man With most
pennies, Elvin Bearss; longest

William Yolk, e5, died at his
late residence in Stephen Town-
ship Tuesday, June 28.

Mrs. Louis R eder , 80, of
Huronview, Clinton, formerly of
Dashwood, died Monday, June 27.
She was the former Elizabeth
Decker and widow of the late
Louis Rader.
Surviving are one son, Alvin,
Hay; one daugher, (Laura) , Mrs.
Oscar Miller, Dashwood; sister,
Mrs, Laurette Weide, Zurich, and
brother, William Decitere Zurich,
The body Is resting at the T,
Harry Hoffman funeral home.
Service will be at Zion Lutheran
Church 2 pm Thursday.
SCOUT BANQUET
Boy Scouts and Cubs father
and son banquet was held Monday
at Dashwood centre, The guest
speaker was Father ,Tansen of
Mt. Carmel whose topic was
youth, Mr. C. Wood spoke and
showed films on conservation
and Scout activities.
Jack Gallant presented pen-
nants to Larry Fleet and his
patrol for tree climbing and to
Michael Tiernan and his patrol
for ball throw, These activities
took place at the camporee at
Fanshawe Lake in May.

Miss Nor ma Weigand was
counsellor for Huron 4-H girls
at Guelph University last week.
She also vacationed with Miss
Elsie Miller of Zion at Grand
Bend recently.
