The wedding table was centred with the wedding cake flanked with gold and bronze mums. Mr. and Mrs. Jones were mar- ried June 14, 1916 at the home of the bride's parents, Abraham and Melissa Hugill of Huron Road, by the late Rev. Robert McKin- ley. Following their marriage they lived on the groom's farm in S t a n1 e y Township, where Mr. Jones farmed for 27 years before coming to Hensall in 1943. They have a family of two sons and two daughters; Wilmer, Stan- ley Township, the homestead, and Wes of Port Perry, (Kathleen) Mrs. Fred Ireland, Toronto and (Mildred) Mrs. Ian Ferguson, London, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Jones is a carpenter and contractor by trade and has built many fine homes and buildings. He served on the Hensall coun- cil for eight years, and was reeve seven years. He was active in the Hensall 100F Lodge and received his 50 year jewel March 1965. Both are members of Hensall United Church where Mrs. Jones is active in the church organiza- tions. They were the recipient of cards, gifts and congratulatory messages from Lester B, Pear- son, Prime Minister of Canada, John Diefenbaker, Robert Mc- Kinley MP and Hon. C. S. Mac- Naughton. Receives diploma Bryan R. Bonthron, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Bonthron, Hensall, received his diploma in Business Administration at Convocation at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute and has accepted a position with Canada Trust, London. Mr. & Mrs. John Konynendyk and Lenore, Woodstock, Mr. & Mrs. A. Lagerwerf of Parkhill, Mrs. J. Lucio and Mr. & Mrs. Tony Gelderland, Ridgetown, Mr. & Mrs. Don Dodds and Lynne, Seaforth, were guests Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobol and Mrs. K. Lagerwerf attending a birth- day celebration for Mrs. Gelder- land. Mr. Albert Klungel of Winsc- hoten, Holland, is spending three months vacationing with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Harry Klungel and family at the Queensway Nursing Home. Harry is the only son he has in Can- ada. The rest of his family live in Holland. Mr. Glenn Love of Sudbury, who has been a patient in Tor- onto General Hospital for sev- eral months where he underwent a major operation, is vacationing with his sister and brother-in- law, Mr. & Mrs. J. E. McEwen, and other relatives in the area. Jim Baynham of Seaforth, for- merly of Hensall, received word that he was a successful appli- cant for the temporary position of agent at the CNR station at Hensall for a period of ninety days. Jim was for four years an operator at London CNR yard office. Mr. & Mrs. W. E. Hedden, Niagara Falls, visited last week with Mr. Herb Hedden. Rev. W. J. Rogers, Mrs. Rog- ers and Brenda of Erindale, were guests Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd McLean and Mr. & Mrs. Walter Spencer and Greg. Prof Cameron Henry of Lon- don visited over the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Wm. Henry. Mr. & Mrs. Edgar Cudmore and Miss Patsy Parker were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Wilmer MacDonald at Brampton. Mrs. Edna Corbett visited this week with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Harold Parker and Patsy. Mr. & Mrs. Harry Gibson and Robert of Sudbury spent the week- end at the home of Mrs. Gibson's father, Mr. Lorne McNaughton, visiting with Mr. McNaughton, who is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Mr. Earl Bell of Toronto visi- ted recently with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Glenn E. Bell. Mr. & Mrs. William Shaddick of London visited recently with the former's mother, Mrs. Pearl Shaddick. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Duncan, and Mr. Glenn McNaughton of Tor- onto were recent visitors with their father Mr. Lorne McNaugh- ton, who is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Plan for picnic Legion Ladies Auxiliary met Tuesday evening with president Mrs. Harold Campbell presiding. Plans were laid for their annual picnic at Riverview Park, Exeter in July. Members accepted an in- vitation to Goderich Auxiliary June 21, and catered for a ban- quet Friday evening June 10 for the Hensall Kinsmen, Mrs. Byran Kyle won the guessing prize, and Mrs. Clar- ence Reid, the mystery prize. Following the meeting the group motored to Grand Bend and enjoyed a late supper at the imperial Hotel. ich. Congram 0 Winghann, who chose for her theme "Total CoMMittment'', using the example of Moses, how he made excuses when God want- ed to use him; example of Samuel how he was so busy with his work he did not recognize God's voice when he called. She also used the example of Matthew and Paul and concluded her address by stating how God uses everyone no matter what we are or what we do. The speaker was intro- duced by Mrs. Harvey Hyde and thanked by Mrs. Malcolm Dou- gall. Special guests for the evening were societies fromCavenpres- byterian Church, Exeter, and Cromarty Presbyterian Church, and Arnold Circle of the church, Carmel 'WMS observe .birthclay who were welcomed together with the members by President Mrs. Earl Campbell who presided for the meeting. A social hour was enjoyed. Tippett dies in London The death occurred in St. Jo- seph's Hospital, London, Wed- nesday, June 8 of Mrs. Percival Tippett, '79, of Varna. She was the former Elsie L. Petty, of Hay Township. Surviving are two brother s William Petty, RR 2 Hensall; John Petty, Toronto; two sisters, Miss Olive Petty, London; Mrs. Charles (Nellie) Green, Egmond- ville. Her husband predeceased her in August 1965. Public funeral services were held from the Bonthron Funeral Chapel Friday at 2 pm conducted by Mr. Murdoch Morrison, Varna and Rev. E, J. B. Harrison of Hayfield. Burial was in Hayfield cemetery. Bearers were Mervyn, Elmer and Harvey Hayter, Erwin Pease, Arnold Westlake and Harvey Dow. Kin host wives Members of the Kinsmen club entertained their wives to a ban- quet at the Legion Hall Friday evening when a turkey dinner catered by Hensall Legion La- dies Auxiliary was served. Jim Hyde, retiring president, was presented with a plaque for his year's work, and Mrs. Hyde was presented with a picture. Presentations were made bypast president John Baker. Dancing to music provided by Desjardine orchestra was held at the local arena. Attend service Members of Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary attended ser- vice in a body at St. Paul's Anglican Church Sunday morning and were addressed by the rector Rev. J. P. Gandon. President Mrs. Harold Camp- bell of the Auxiliary read the First Lesson. Miss Jean Hender- son was soloist choosing for her selection "My Task". Mrs. Frank Forrest was at the organ console. Flowers were in memory of Mrs. Percy Tippett and Mr. Clarence Lenaghan. Hwy 4 South Mrs. Jim Hyde was hostess for the meeting of Hensall Kin- ette Club when guest, Mrs. Ger- ald Northcott, Exeter, demon- strated five floral arrangements which she donated to the club. Three of them were auctioned off and two were drawn for, the winners being Mrs. Bob Cald- well and Mrs. Wm. Mickle. The club decided to renew the sponsorship of their adopted girl from Italy and also to send $10.00 for her birthday. Ten dollars was donated to Cystic Fibrosis. Well attended The annual smorgasbord of Hensall United Church was well attended by members of the con- gregation, community and adja- cent centres Wednesday June 8. A floral arrangement of iris, tulips, lilac and spring phlox with candelabra formed an ef- fective setting for the decorative salads, relishes, meat trays and appetizing desserts. Approximately 200 dinners were served as well as a take- out service delivered to 125. Many of the farmers, who were too busy to attend in person, took advantage of the box suppers. This event was under the di- rection of Mrs. Vern Alderdice and the social function commit- tee. Shortening Enjoys banquet Instead of the annual picnic this year members of Hensall Women's Institute including thirty one members and four guests enjoyed a turkey dinner with all the trimmings at the Hensall Hotel Monday evening June 13, followed with a brief meeting and social hour. President Mrs. Beverly Beaton presided for the meeting, when an invitation from Elimville WI to attend a picnic August 10 was accepted. Mrs. R. M. Peck, Mrs. V. M. Pyette, Mrs. Rodger Ven- ner were appointed convenors to look after an exhibit for Exe- ter Fall Fair. The executive will meet at the home of Mrs. Clar- ence Reid Monday, June 20, at 8:15 pm. Mrs. Fred Beer reported that South Huron District are having a hobby display at the Area Convention at Goderich Novem- ber 1 and 2. Mrs. James Mc- Allister gave highlights of the District Annual held at Dashwood recently. Meetings will resume in Sep- tember. The evening concluded with a period of progressive euchre and the winners were: high, Mrs. N. E. Cook; low, Mrs. Beaton; lone hands, Mrs. Wilbert Dining.
