RESIDENTS OF CREDITON
All dog owners in the Police
Village of Crediton are remind-
ed that the Township of Stephen
By-Law No. 8, 1952, is in effect
in regards to dogs running at
large. This means that no per-
son owning, possessing or har-
bouring a dog shall allow the
said dog to run at large within
"the Police Village of Crediton,
from May 1 to October 1. Any
dog found running at large may
be seized or killed by any
peace officer or any person
authorized to enforce this by-
law.

Mrs. Charles Coughlin was
hostess for the meeting of Clan-
deboye WI with President Mrs.
Andrew Carter in the chair.
The roll call "How I would
like to be remembered if I were
a shut-in" was answered in a
variety of ways.
Mrs. Omar Cunningham was
auctioneer for a variety sale of
homemade bread, plants, honey,
candy and other donations. Mrs.
Wilmer Scott contributed a read-
ing and a contest, conducted by
Mrs. Alan Hill, was won by Mrs.
Alex Macintosh. The hostess
prize was won by Mrs. Cunning-
ham,
A report of the District Annual
held in Sylvan Church was given.
Assisting the hostess were Mrs.
Rea Neil and Mrs. Macintosh.
PERSONALS
Mrs. Alvin Cunningham attend-
ed the Tweddle—McLinchey wed-
ding in St. James Anglican Church
Parkhill. There were 103 guests.
Mr. & Mrs. Jack Manson, John
and Mary of Simcoe spent Sun-
day with Mrs. Manson's mother,
Mrs. Alvin Cunningham.
Miss Elaine Armstrong of
Newmarket spent the holiday with

Monday May 23 funeral ser-
vice for Mrs. Kenneth Wilson
(the former Diane Cunningham)
daughter of Mr. Arnold Cunning-
ham was held at C. Haskett fu-
neral home, Lucan. The service
was taken by the Rev. E. 0.
Lancaster. She was married
three years June 5 in St. James
Church, Clandeboye.
At St. James Church, Sunday
May 29 the rector Rev. E. 0.
Lancaster exchanged with the
Rev. C. Francis Johnson of Wing-
ham who has been rector of St.
Paul's since 1957, but is retiring
this year. Mr. Lancaster was
rector from 1947-1952 in the
same church Wingham.
At the United Church the Rev.
G. W. Sach and Mrs. Sach and
daughter left last week for Eng-
land till the end of June. The
service was taken by Mr. David
W. Blair of the Ontario Temper-
ance Federation, the son of a
former minister of Alin Craig.
Miss Reta Chown, Lucan, was
pianist.

after being a patient for four
weeks in South Huron Hospital,

South Huron Hospital.

at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Milford Merner Saturday, May
28 on the occasion of their ap-
proaching 25th wedding anniver-
sary.
After a get-together and sing-
ing they were presented with a
figurine by Mrs. A. V. Tiernan
with Mr. Tiernan reading an ap-
propriate address. Lunch with
anniversary cake was served.

of the Evangelical UB church at
the conference held at Milverton
last week. The vote on union with
the United church of Canada was
favorable but there still are sev-
eral votes both in the EUB church
and the United church before this
will be finalized in 1967.
Rev. Henry Getz of Pembroke
was a houseguest at the parsonage
Saturday night with Rev. & Mrs.
Merrill James and family and was
also guest speaker at the morning
service in the EUB church.
Mr. Elmore Datars is a patient
in South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
Mrs, Herb Wein returned home
from Peterborough after spend-
ing several weeks with her grand-
children while their parents, D'r.
& Mrs. A. C. Whittier, were in
Italy.

A former resident of the parish
that of (Carmel McIsaac) Mrs.
Oscar J. Thibodeau, age 52, died
suddenly in London and was bur-
ied in Mt. Carmel cemetery last
Friday. She was survived by her
husband and a daughter, Mrs.
Ronald Johnson (Gloria) of Sar-
nia.

Rev. and Mrs. N. R. Ernst
attended the General Evangelical
United Brethren Church Confer-
ence at milverton last week. Fri-
day a special service was held
when Mr, Ernst was presented
with a large basket of flowers to
commemorate fifty years in the
active ministry.
Of these, five years was spent
in Saskatchewan and the remain-
der in Ontario. Mr. Ernst served
forty-two years in the EUB
church and eight years in other
denominations, the last five years
in the United Church of Canada.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernst accom-
panied by Rev, and Mrs. Harold
Heines and Robbie of Lansing,
Mich., attended the closing ser-
vice Sunday afternoon.
