Harry Strang has been appoint-
ed local Commissioner for the
Census of Population and the
Farm Census, which begins June
I, 1966, across Canada. He will
administer the South Huron cens-
us district, consisting of Town-
ships of Usborne, Stephen, Hay,
Town of Exeter, Villages of Hen-
salt and Zurich.
Following announcement of his
appointment Harry Strang stated
that his Census district will be
divided into 21 sub districts,
employing a staff of 20 census
takers.
Everybody will have the op-
portunity to "Be Counted for
Canada" when Census takers call
at every home in Canada starting
on June 1. They will be taking
the Population Census which con-
sists of just five questions, and
the Farm Census which will also
be simple but with more ques-
tions listed. They will also re-
cord all business establishments
to develop a master list for the
Census of Merchandising which
will be completed by mail after
the end of the 1966 fiscal year.
One aspect of the Census
stressed by Mr. Strang as he
made preparations to administer
the Census locally was the need
for public co-operation. He point-
ed out that today in most count-
ries of the world a census was
carried out at intervals to take
stock of human resources and to
use as a basis for public and
private planning.
He urged everyone in the dist-
rict to co-operate because ((in
the long run, everybody stands
to benefit", he said.
The families of the late Lennis
and Betty Denomme wish to ex-
press their sincere thanks and
appreciation to their relatives,
friends and neighbors for their
many acts of kindness, floral
tributes, cards and expressions
of sympathy extended to them in
their recent sad bereavement.
Special thanks to Father Kelly,
Father Doyle, Father Jensen, Drs
Read and Rousseau, the pallbear-
ers, and Hoffman funeral home.
