Receives call from Viet Nam Miss Mary Payne received a telephone call Monday, May 23, from her fiance Cpl Gary Merritt, who is stationed in Viet Nam. Lisa is the victim of Cystic Fibrosis and has been chosen to represent Western Ontario in the publicity campaign designed to gather funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation in Western Ontario. Lisa is this little girl's actual name but the name Lisa means much more than this. Throughout the United States the name Lisa is the equivalent of the name ',Timmy" used extensively in other fund raising campaigns for an- other disease. This is the first time Canadians have used the child symbol for this campaign. Lisa's mother, Mrs. Jim Hyde is president of the London Cystic Fibrosis Chapter. evee€4 INOMMMEMIONNO Mrs. Gordon Vickers Mrs. Gordon Vickers of New- market passed away at her home Saturday, May 21. She was the former Joyce Scruton of Hensall. She is survived by her husband, one son, Allan, and a daughter Cathy at home, two sisters, Mrs. P. L. (Mildred) McNaughton, and Mrs. Bert (Alma) Horton, Hen- sall, one brother, Harold Scru- ton, Port Dover. Funeral services were held Monday from the Roadhouse and Rose funeral chapel, Newmarket, with interment in Newmarket cemetery. Attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. P. L. McNaughton and Robert, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hor- ton and Bruce, of Hensall, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Busche, London. HEALTH BRAN Two 4 -H clubs guests of Kippen East WI Teens hold service at Mary Ellen Chapel The senior teens Sunday School classes from the United Churches of Hensall, Grand Bend and James St. Exeter, held a joint church service at the Mary Ellen Chapel, Grand Bend, May 22 at 11 am. Mr. Fred Hyde spent a few days with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Hyde, before as- suming work at Algonquin Radio Observatory, having accepted a position with National Research Council, Ottawa. Mr. Emery Bruce of Windsor spent the weekend with Robert Cameron. Miss Margaret Hyde has suc- cessfully completed her training at London Teachers' College and accepted a teaching position with the London Board of Education. Mr, Robert Cameron of Hensall has been appointed organist and choirmaster of James St. United Church, Exeter. Miss Mary Payne of London spent the weekend at her home here. Miss Peggy Axford of St. Tho- mas was a weekend guest with Miss Pauline Bell and attended Briarwood School of Skating, Sar- nia. Miss Troyann Bell was a guest figure skater at Briarwood Arena, Sarnia, over the weekend. Mrs. Fred Beer, South Huron District WI president, and Mrs. Wilbert Dilling, secretary, ,at- tended the South Perth District Annual held at Avonton Tuesday. During the month 9f June, Mr. Gordon Griggs, B.A., will occupy the pulpit in Carmel Presbyterian Church. During July, they will worship in the United Church. The next meeting will be held June 15 at the home of Mrs. Mary Tay- lor. Mrs. John (Nellie) Scott, 89, formerly of Grey Township, died Saturday, May 21 at Queensway Nursing Home.
