Mr. O'Brien returned recently from South East Asia where he visited India, Ceylon, Malaysia and Thailand as a member of the International Seminar to advise on development of an anti- tu- berculosis program. He has been director of the Ontario Associa- tion since its inception in 1945 and with which Huron County As- sociation is affiliated. This is the third occasion on which Mr. O'Brien's services have beep loaned to the Inter- national Association and he is PLAN BAKE SALE The immaculate Heart Grand Bend Couneil of CWL installed the same state of officers for a second term at the recent meet- ing. Gill attended the centennial church service at Bell will tag poles in area Over 5,000 pounds of numbered aluminum nails will be used by The Bell Telephone Company of Canada in tagging the 295,000 telephone poles it maintains in, this part of the country. According to a Bell Canada spokesman, this work has al- ready begun and will continue into December. "We're tagging our poles in order to streamline our import- ant pole inventory system," he said, wand we've contracted the services of Technical Overload, a division of Office Overload, to do the tagging for us." Each pole will be tagged with the date of its installation, some of which date back to 1924. Mrs. Fred Parkinson had charge of the wor- ship service assisted by Mrs. Ellis Strahan, Mrs. Duncan Mc- Naughton gave a reading and Mrs. Austin Timms a poem "Mothers Way". Mrs. Nelson Ernst read an article on Citizenship "From Oldest, To The Newest, Our In- dian Citizens". Mrs. Wm. Spence favored with a solo. A chapter from the study book was given by Mrs. George Wilson. Several mothers and grand- m oth e r s were presented with flowers. A quiz on "Mothers from the Bible" was conducted by Mrs. Duncan McNaughton. By MRS. HAROLD DAVIS STUDY PERSONALITY St. Paul's Church Women's Auxiliary met Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Knox, St. Marys. Mrs. Bill Schaefer presided for the meeting. An interesting paper on "Per- sonality" was given by Mrs. Lloyd Smith. Lunch was served by Mrs. Garth Blackler, Mrs. Schaefer and hostess. Friends and relatives attended graduation ceremonies at the Shakespearean Festival Theatre for nurses at the Stratford Gen- eral Hospital, Saturday, when Miss Joan Francis was a gradu- ate. Following the graduation a reception was held for Joan at Kirkton United Church. Will have float at convention Lions Club from 397 com- munities, that cover all of Que- bec and Ontario, will swarm in on London, Sunday May 29, 1966, with the biggest parade in Can- ada, 80,000 to 100,000 people are expected to line the streets for an afternoon of real enjoyment. Almost 300 entries include 45 bands, 53 floats, 39 Majorette groups, 45 decorated cars and Horses from a 6 horse hitch down. The bands include International Champions from Leaside,Sarnia, Quebec City, Toronto and many other places. A big Steam Engine from Burford, with its huffing, puffing and whistle, will be the favourite of thousands. Many Lions Club sponsor bands as one of their service acts and competition is keen for the large cash prizes. Twenty thousand Lions Club members, friends and their children will come to London to put on this spectacle. Three thousand of them will remain for the entire four day convention. Business sessions and entertain- ments are at the Ivanhoe Curling Club. The Exeter Lions Club will have a float entered in the parade and it is expected that a large majority of the club members will take part in the program.
