Mr. & Mrs. Edgar Hobbs of Greentown, Indiana, are spending a few days with their uncle and aunt, Mr. & Mrs. George Lawson. Mrs. C. A. Tavener left Wed- nesday by plane for a visit with relatives in England. Mrs. Alvin Moir underwent surgery in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, last week and is con- valescing very well. AND MRS. GORDON ROSS read a Mother's Day poem and Mrs. Lorne Johns read a story. Mrs, Norman Jaques and Mrs. Lorne Johns, citizenship and edu- cation conveners, arranged the program. Roll call was answered by bringing an old school book. A membership drive with Mrs. Murray Coward and Mrs. Ross Skinner as team captains, was explained. The winning side will be hosted by the losers in Feb- ruary. Mrs. Wellington Brock and Mrs Creery were named a committee to plan entertainment for patients at Goderich Ontario Hospital. The Hospital Auxiliary report was given by Miss Ruth Skinner. A bake sale was planned for the near future. Members were re- minded of the District Annual May 19 at Dashwood. Mrs. Creery was named curator, an o m i s- sion from last month's slate of officers. A report of the June 20th bus trip to London was given by Mrs Murray Coward, who also gave a report on the Officers' Conference at Guelph. Hostesses were Mrs. Ron Flet- cher, Mrs. C. Giifillan, Mrs. G. Skinner, Mrs. Ed. Johns and Mrs. H. Pym. L. Douglas Palmer, SHDHS principal, was guest speaker at Elimville WI meeting last Wed- nesday evening. His subject was 'Preparation for Living". He showed the plans for the pro- posed composite school, and led a question and answer period. Mrs. Thomas Hern commented on the motto "One who ceases to learn, ceases to live." Rev. Clifford Britton officiated and Miss Margaret Hillen, Walt- on, played the wedding music and accompanied the soloist, Eric Ross, who sang The Wedding Prayer and The Lord's Prayer. The bride chose for her wed- ding a floor-length gown of silk peau de soie. The bodice was fashioned with a high scoop neck- line and long lily point sleeves. From the fitted bodice fell a con- trolled skirt which was formed with double scissor pleats and appliqued with swiss Guipure lace motifs to match the appliqued bodice. The gown was highlighted at the back by a detachable car- dinal train falling from the shoulders into a chapel train. A double pillbox headdress of peau de soie frosted with lace held her silk illusion hand-roll- ed finger-tip veil. She carried red roses on a white Bible. Mrs. Richard Lehnen, Kitchen- er, was matron of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Noreen Moyer, Kitchener, and Miss Elaine Ross, sister of the groom, London. They wore floor-length gowns of blue silk chiffon identically fashioned with sheath skirts, ',mouton" sleeves of Gui- pure lace and sabrina necklines edged in lace. They chose picture hats and carried white bouquets of divinity poms centred with a red rose. Flower girls, Lori Anne Fowle, niece of the bride, Toronto, and Cheryl Ostland, niece of the groom, Exeter, wore floor-length gowns of white peau de soie trimmed with blue lace and rosebud bows and carried flowers similar to the other at- tendants. Groomsman was John Dawes, Guelph, and ushering guests were Ronald Driscoll and Alfred Ross, both of Sea-forth. The reception was held in the church rooms where the bride's mother received in a blue lace dress with matching jacket, beige accessori.es and the groom' s mother chose a pink sheath dress with navy accessories. For travelling in the East the bride changed to a navy two- piece suit with red accessories and corsage of red roses. The couple will make their home in Orillia. Many visitors for anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bissett marked their 40th wedding anni- versary Sunday, May 8 when friends and relatives called to wish them well.
