Sunday, May 15, 1966, will long
remain a red letter day in the
history of the Lucan United
Church, for on that day the large
addition to the church was dedic-
ated.
Lighted candelabra, baskets of
pink, white and yellow mums
formed the setting in the Pente-
costal Gospel Temple, London,
at 3 pm Saturday, May 7, when
the Rev. Don Emmos, in a double
ring ceremony, united in wed-
lock Vicki Lynne Eizenga and
Rev. John M. D, Boaz.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Maine Eizenga of
Main St. Lucan and the groom is
the son of Mrs. Grace Boaz of
McLean, Virginia.
Given in marriage by her fath-
er the bride chose a floor-length
lace sheath gown featuring elbow-
length sleeves and round neck.
Over a long peau de sole coat
with slight train, fell a floor-
length net veil, held by a pearl
studded tiara. She carried a cas-
cade of yellow and orange rose-
buds with lily-of-the-valley.
Mrs. Morris Graham (sister
of the bride) from Toronto, as
matron of honor, Miss Margaret
Eizenga (another sister) of Lu-
ran, Miss Beverley Agar of Lon-
don and Mrs. William Hack of
Denfield as bridesmaids, were
gowned alike in floor-I ength
gowns of aqua crepe, featuring
empire waists and over-skirts.
They wore short veils with bows
and carried deep pink rose-buds.

Additional chairs had to be
brought in to accommodate the
large attendance present for this
memorable occasion. Speaking
on "The Relevance of Our Faith"
the guest speaker was the Rev.
nieces of the bride, made charm-
ing little flower girls in floor-
length white eyelet dresses with
aqua bows, carrying pink and
white mums with sweet peas.
Dr. Beverly G. Boaz (brother
of the groom) of Clifton Forge,
Virginia was best man. Donald
Thomasberg, of Virginia, George
Williams P. A. Parker of Fort-
ney, Virginia were ushers.
Mrs. Fred Lukiano of London,
provided traditional wedding mu-
sic and accompanied the soloist
Mr. William McNally of Toronto.
At a reception held at the
Seven Dwarfs, London, th e
bride's mother received in a
navy gown with matching lace
over-coat, navy accessories and
pink rose-bud corsage. She was
assisted by the groom's mother,
who chose a gown of antique
gold on aqua peau de soie, with
gold accessories and yellow
rose-bud corsage.
For a honeymoon trip to north-
ern states the bride changed to a
red and white wool knitted suit
with red and white accessories.
The temporary address of the
eOuple will be Virginia but they
expect to make their home In
Oklahoma.
Following the rehearsal Fri-
day night the bride's parents
entertained 45 members of the
Wedding party In their Lucan
home.

He was assisted by two retired
pastors of London, Rev. P. H.
Lawson, and Rev. R, B. Cum-
ming.
Miss Ilene Donaldson was solo-
ist. At the "Ceremony of the
Keys" the master keys were
passed from contractor Harry
Van Boxmeer to the following
officials, J. Donald McGugan,
architect, Alden Walker, chair-
man of the building committee,
Earl Haskett, of the Board of
Trustees, Thos Barr, past chair-
man of the committee of stew-
ards, Mrs. C, F. Sovereign UCW
president, C. B. Culbert, super-
intendent of the church school,
Rev. G. W. Sach, pastor and
finally to Rev. D. Graham Tipple,
conference president, all of whom
spoke briefly.
Following this ceremony jr.
and sr. choir led the processional
outside for the dedication cere-
mony. Two small boys, Jeffery
Park and Jeffrey Young, cut the
ribbons and Edward J. Melanson,
chairman of the CE committee,
opened the door for an inspection
of the new building and reception
and refreshments arranged by the
Couples Club in the old school
room.
New teachers
at area schools
New teachers have been ap-
pointed to the Lucan and Biddulph
Central schools.
Mr. Norman Steeper, vice
principal at Ridgetown, will suc-
ceed Mr. Robert Jenkins as prin-
cipal of the Lucan Public School
and Miss Wilhemina Harris of
Burlington now teaching at Ox-
bow school will succeed Mrs.
Russell Radcliffe in Lucan's Op-
portunity class.
Miss Marilyn Morgan of Cen-
tralia, who has been teaching at
Oxbow PS, will succeed Mrs.
Joan Lawson, as Grade 2 and 3
teacher in the Biddulph Central
School. Another new teacher at
Biddulph Central will be Miss
Deanna Snelgrove, of Hyde Park,
at present attending the London
Teachers' College. She will teach
Grade 6 and 7 in the room now
occupied by Mrs. Marjorie Mor-
ley.
Gather $80.79
at Maypole tea
Last Monday Lucan-Clande-
boye CGIT began with an evalua-
tion of last Saturday's Maypole
Tea, which netted the group
$80.79 including the over 60
"take-out" desserts. It was voted
that one half the proceeds go for
equipment for the new building
and the other half towards the
stained glass window.
The worship service was taken
by Marie Cochrane and Marlene
Butler.

W. Sach as pastor, Mrs. Sheridan

session, Mr. Ed. Melanson as
chairman of the Christian Edu-
cation Committee, d iscussed
"What the Church expects of
teens." This was followed by a
question and answer period.

Mr. & Mrs. MeNaughton at-
tended the graduation of Mr.
John McKeehan of Denlield, who
has been a student at Ridgetown
Agricultural College at Ridge-
town.
Mr. & Mrs. David Holland
and family spent an enjoyable
time in and around Lindsay dur-
ing the weekend. They attended
the Hoare-Gawa wedding held at
Williams Baptist Church In Lind-
say. Mrs. Eric Westman and Mrs.
Earl Holland were bridesmaids
and Caroline, flower girl. Mr.
Earl Holland and Mr. Eric West-
man of London, were ushers.
While there they toured around
Victoria County arriving home
Sunday.

The General UCW meeting was
held in the schoolroom Thursday
evening, with president, Mrs.
Chas. Sovereign, presiding. Mrs.
Ivan Hearn took the worship ser-
vice, the theme being, "Guiding
a Child", A quartette by Mrs.
A. E. Reilly, Mrs, Bert Thomp-
son Mrs. G. W. Sach, and Mrs,
Orville Jones, was enjoyed,
The guest speaker was Mrs.
Dewis of London who spoke on
"Save the Children Fund". A film
on Korea was shown by Mrs.
Ma.nsen, Mrs. Dewis was intro-
duced by Mrs. Erle Young and
thanked by Mrs. Sheridan Rey-
ington,

was led by Margaret Sach.
A report on the successful
paper and bottle drive held on
Saturday was given. The bottles
netted $18.00 but the paper is not
yet sold. Marilyn Hearn,Eleanor
Walker and David Staney pro-
vided refreshments.

North Middlesex WI Annual at
Sylvan last Tuesday from Lucan

Mr. Clarence Frost, who
underwent surgery in St. Joseph's
Hospital, Monday May 9 is making
satisfactory recovery and ex-
pects to be home soon.

Saturday, May 7, 34 Lucan-
Clandeboye Explorers and two
Counsellors, Mrs. William
Froats and Mrs. Lorne Mohr
went by bus to the Explorer
Rally, held at First St. And-
rew's United Church, London,
where the Explorer Fellowship
staged an interesting program
from 2 to 4:30 pm, The children
moved from room to room for
stories, drama, hand-craft and
puppets, after which refresh-
ments were served.

and Beth were bridesmaids and
Jack and Michael ushers. Prior
to the wedding Dana held a mis-
cellaneous shower for her friend.

went surgery in St. Joseph's
Hospital, is able to be home.

After five week's hospitaliza-
tion, Mrs. Mary Smibert is able
to be home.
Mrs. Frond Goddard
Mrs. Frank Goddard 73, the
former Mabel May Phelex, form-
erly of Kingston died in Victoria
Hospital, London, Friday May 13.
She is survived by one son and
five daughters, Donald Goddard,
Canadian Armed Forces, Germ-
any, Jeannette (Mrs. Rod McDon-
ald) RR 3 Lucan, Lenora (Mrs.
W, D. Roach) Prince George, B.C.
Marie (Mrs. Peter Crossfield)
Kitchener, Helen (Mrs. V. D.
Edwards) Downsview, Doreen
(Mrs. E. F. Wibberley) of Ottawa
and 14 grandchildren.
The body rested at the C. Has-
kett & Son funeral home, Lucan
until Saturday morning May 14
then to the Robert B. Cullen
funeral home Kingston. Requiem
High Mass was sung inSt, Mary's
Cathedral at 9 am Monday May
16 followed by interment in St.
Mary's cemetery, Kingston.
Robert Raycraft Lewis
Robert Raycraft Lewis 34, of
RR 2 Denfield, passed away sud-
denly in a tractor accident Fri-
day May 13,
Mr, Lewis was driving his
tractor on Concession 15 London
Township. He was backing up to
retrieve tools he had dropped, got
too close to a culvert and over-
turned the tractor, pinning him-
self beneath. Janice O'Neil, 3,
was the only witness. She told
her father Mr. Clayton O'Neil,
who called Dr. A, R. Meredith
of Arva. Provincial Constable
R. J. Abra of the Lucan detach-
ment was in charge of investiga-
tions.
Mr. Lewis was a well known
London Township farmer and a
member of Lucan United Church,
where he was a member of the
choir, chairman of the committee
Of Stewards and a member of the
Couples Club.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his
wife the former Marian Hudson,
three small children, Lorraine,
Gayle and Wayne, his parents
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence G. Lewis
of .RR 2 Denfield, two sisters
and a brother, Jean (Mrs. Willis
Brown) Streetsville, Marie (Mrs.
Maurice Campbell) Sarnia and
Fred, RR 2 Denfield,
Funeral services were con-
ducted by Rev. G. W. Sach in
the Lucan United Church, Mon-
day, may 16. A large choir, a
capacity filled church with over-
flow in the basement paid tribute
to the deceased. Interment was
in St. James cemetery, Clande-
boye. C. Haskett & Son were in
charge of funeral arrangements.
Pallbearers included Messrs
Clayton O'Neil, Ken Hardy, Jack
Ryan, Harold Cobleigh, Murray
Lackey and Lloyd Searle.
