Monday night 50 residents of
Grand Bend, Thedford, Forest
and Sarnia met in the new audi-
torium of the Grand Bend Public
School for the second annual
Hospitality seminar,
Dave McKenzie, London, on
staff of the Department of Tour-
ism and Information chaired the
session which included colored
slides of highlights for tourist-
viewing in the area.
Mary McInnis, planning offi-
ecr on the department's staff
from Toronto, was commentator

for an effective cartoon-type film
strip on ""The importance of
tourism to you and your com-
munity,' which was prepared by
the Canadian Tourist Associa-
tion, Miss McInnis also conducted
a questionaire which brought out
the details of attractions within
short driving distance of Grand
Bend.
Barry Dobson, regional super-
visor with the department pre-
sented a ten-point field program.
A film strip on retail selling,
and a movie film on Broken Bow,
a successful tourist community
in Nebraska, completed the eve-
ning.
Local convener, William Stur-
devant, vice-president of the
Sa.rnia-Lambton Regional Tour-
ist Council, offered appreciation
to village residents who assisted
and to the department people for
presenting the seminar.

was held May 5, went very well.
The competition was keen and
spectators had a difficult time
deciding which event to watch.
The total points from the track
meet were 2,336 for the Green
House, 2,192 for the Blue House,
1,908 for the YellowHouse, 1,608
for the White House.
The Girls' champions are: Jun-
ior Girls-Joan Campbell, Barb
Elliot; Senior Girls--Marg
Bosch, Dara Goodale.
The Boys champions are: jun-
ior boys, John Loader and Jim
Hayter tied for first; interme-
diate boys, Ron Youngash; senior
boys, John Franklin, Craig
Davidson and Robb Harrington

Many new records were set in
the boys division. Records set
in the junior division were, triple
jump, Jim Hayter with 33'9 1/2".
The old record was 33'7". 220
yd. dash, Jim Hayter 28.3 sec.
The old record was 28.4 sec.
Mile, John Loader, 5 min. 34.6
sec. The old record was 5 min.
42.4 sec. High jump, John Loader,
4'10". The old record was 4'9".
Shot-put, John Loader, 34'4".
The old record was 34'1". Dis-
cus, Mike Davis, 71'6". There
was no previous record.
Records set in the intermediate
division were: 100 yd. dash, Ron
Youngash, 10.8 sec., tying the
record; pole vault, Larry Skin-
ner, 8'9 1/4". The old record
was 8'; broad jump, Gary Jones,
18'4 1/2". The previous record
was 17'5"; discus, Rick Mustard,
98'6". The old record was 95'5".
Senior division records set
were: 100 yd. dash, John Frank-
lin, 10.7 sec., tying the record;
220 yd. dash, John Franklin, 24,6
sec. The old record was 28.8 sec.
Pole vault, Dan Cameron, 9'. The
old record was 8'6". Triple jump,
Craig Davidson, 38'9 3/4". The
old mark was 36'2". Broad jump,
Craig Davidson, 19'5 3/4". The
old record was 18'5". Shot-put,
Al Youngash, 40'2". The former
record, which was set by Al, was
38'5". Discus, Al Youngash,
114'6". The previous record also
set by Al was 105'8". Clare Skin-
ner placed 2nd in the discus with
110'7" also beating the old re-
cord.
Wed., May 11, the first and
second place winners in each
division, for both boys and girls,
travelled to Mitchell for the
Huron-Perth track and field meet

Canadian Armed Forces visited
CF Base Centralia on his coast
to coast tour of defence estab-
lishments. The Bishop was ac-
companied by Lt./Col. J. L. La-
traverse, Central C o mm and,
Oakville.
Bishop Gallagher visited the
children at the J.A.D. McCurdy
school and attended a reception
in the Community Centre in the
afternoon. That eve ning the
Bishop officiated at the confir-

Bishop Gallagher was born in
Scotland, trained at Diocese of
Gravelbourg, Sask. and joined the
RCAF as Chaplain in 1942 and
served overseas during the war.
He has spent two separate tours
of duty at 41 Air Division, France
and was Command Chaplain at
Air Defence Command, St. Hu-
bert, Quebec. In 1963 he was
created Bishop in the capacity
of Auxiliary Bishop to the Can-
adian Armed Forces. He makes
Ottawa his place of residence.

Pinery Park
The Hon. Kelso Roberts, along
with members of the Department
of Lands and Forests staff, paid
his spring visit to the Pinery
Provincial Park on Tuesday
morning. It was part of a regular
tour of the parks in Ontario.
Meeting with him at the head-
quarters office in the park were
members of the councils of the
village of Grand Bend, and the
township of B os an q u e t, and
Reeves Orval Wassmann, Grand
Bend and William Sitter, Thed-
ford.
