on Accessories" was held in
Mitchell District High S chool
Saturday, April 30. A large num-
ber of mothers, Institute mem-
bers and friends attended from
this area.
Seven girls completed the pro-
ject from Staffa No, 1 club under
the leadership of Mrs. Bob Laing
and Mrs, Russell Taylor, They
presented a skit on "Details are
important,"
Six girls completed the pro-
ject from Staffa No, 2 club under
the leadership of Mrs. John Wal-
lace and Mrs. Charles Douglas.
Their contribution was an exhibit
"Accents with Accessories" with
Margaret Worden the commen-
tator.
Seven girls completed the pro-
ject from Staffa No. 3 club with
Mrs. Cliff Miller and Mrs, Gord-
on Parsons, their leaders. They
presented a skit "Accessories
for various occasions".
MUSIC FESTIVAL WINNERS
Miss Heather Daynard, daugh-
ter of Rev, and Mrs. A. H. Dayn-
ard placed first for her alto solo
at the Mitchell Music Festival

MARRIED 50 YEARS
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Weiberg,
who were 50 years married, April
29, were unable to celebrate
their anniversary as had been
planned owing to the fact that
Mrs. Weiberg was confined to the
hospital in London.
But, with their daughter, Mrs.
Kuzmich, they received Holy
Communion according to the rites
of the Anglican Church celebrated
by Rev. Philip Gandon of Exeter,
in the hospital on their golden
wedding day.

Mrs. Sam Skinner held a birth-
day party for her young daughter,
Dianne, who was celebrating her
sixth birth day Thursday. Her
guests were Penny Smith of Cre-
diton, Pearl Buswell, Elaine and
Margaret Pym from Unionville.
Miss Martha Sleight of Ilder-
ton spent the weekend with Miss
Judy Blair.
Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Smith and
Penny were guests Sunday with
Mr. & Mrs. Sam Skinner.
Mrs. Dick Plantinga, who is
employed by Blair Bros. broke
a bone in his ankle Monday which
will require a cast.

eter, Mr. & Mrs. Ardian Randall
of Wyoming and Mr. Leonard
Wilson of CFB Centralia. Mrs.
Murdie Culbert and Mrs. Wilfred
Hudson, Cathy and Bobby of Ilder-
ton, visited Tuesday with their
cousins, Mr. & Mrs. Mervin
Elston.
Sheila, David and Wendy Els-
ton, students of Medway High
School, along with about 90 mem-
bers of the choir and band of
same school, visited Ottawa, last
week from Sunday until Wednes-
day. They sat in on Parliament,
visited the Mint and Eddy Factory
and played at two different high
schools.

Mrs. Andrew Hicks, a well
known and highly respected life-
long resident of this community,
was feted on two occasions in
celebration of her 90th birthday

Copeland of Windsor entertained
in honor of Mrs. Hicks at Hook's
Restaurant, London. Attending
the dinner were Mrs. Andrew
Hicks, Mrs. Lorne Hicks, Mr. and
Mrs. Clifford Hicks, Toronto,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Attridge,
Hamilton and Mr. and Mrs. Cope-
land.
Monday evening, Mrs. Lorne
Hicks entertained at a dinner
party at her home. Guests in-
cluded Mrs. Andrew Hicks, Mr.
and Mrs. George Hicks, Mr. and
Mrs. Clifford Hicks, Mr. and
Mrs. Arley Copeland, Mrs. Mar-

Mr. Murray Abbott, attended
the funeral of his brother, the
late Bruce Abbott, in London
Tuesday.
Mr. Amos Wright, who was
admitted to St. Joseph's Hospital
London, two weeks ago under-
went surgery Tuesday.

for treatment of burns received
while at work.

named the most outstanding vo-
cal soloist from Hibbert Town-
ship. Friday evening Mrs, Rus-
sell Worden, on behalf of the
Staffa Women's Institute present-
ed their trophy to St, Patrick's
school, Dublin, for the best rural
triple trio.
ENTERTAIN SR. CITIZENS.
The Staffa United Church Wo-
men entertained the Senior Citiz-
ens at their April meeting held
in the Family Life Center. De-
votions were taken by Mrs. Har-
old Pethick assisted by Mrs,
Norval Elliott.
Mrs. pethick introduced Mrs.
A. H, Daynard who gave an in-
teresting talk. Mrs. Ross Smale
favored with a solo. Mrs. Gerald
Agar gave a reading and Mrs.
Robert McCoughey, a piano solo.
The presidentMiss Vera Hambley
presided for the business. The
meeting closed with a social hour.

from St. Marys Memorial Hos-
pital after spending six weeks
there due to a heart condition.

ard.
Mrs. Maurice Bake, Mes. Vy-
tas Trecioka. and Ellen of Toronto
spent Sunday with Mr. & Mrs.

Mr. Duncan McNaughton is
busy working on the construction
for a new house on the Base Line,
David Strahan 12-year-old son
of Mr. & mrs. Ellis Strahare took
three awards at the Mitchell Mu-
sic Festival. He won the Toronto
Dominion Bank award for the
highest mark in junior piano
classes, the Mitchell Music Fes-
tival Community sight reading
award and the Gold Women's In-
stitute award. David is a pupil
of Miss Catherine Fleming of St.
Mrs. Marg Carroll was hostess
assisted by Mrs. Tom Kooy and
Mrs. Hugh Davis for a Guild
meeting, Tuesday afternoon, The
ladies cut quilt blocks and plan-
ned a cleaning dayfor the church.
They set the date of the June
tea for June 8, at the parish
hall. Refreshments were serv-
ed, Mrs. Harry Carrell won the
mystery prize dented by Mrs.
Tom Kooy.
