Parsons got off to a good start
Saturday morning, nabbing their
quota of 15 each in shod order
and had them cleaned by 7 o'clock,
About 1500 of the speckled
variety were put into the Morri-
son waters about two weeks ago
and thanks to the weather Man
about ninety-five percent of these
still remain. Game Warden Roy
Bellinger of Goderich made fre-
quent checks over the weekend,
tabulating the amount, size and
variety of fish caught. Some dozen
or so speckled trout that were
released a year ago were taken
on the opening days. They are
identified by black marks and
are a bit larger, Other anglers
known to get good catches were
Frank and Rick Brintnell, Alvin
Willert, Garnet Shipman and Andy
Miller,
GOOD CATCHES FOR TRIO

headed into the northern part of
Huron County and returned with
excellent catches. Ted Pooley,
Bill Snell and Bert Ostland were
successful in landing 32 trout of
the speckled variety. These were
all of good size, with the largest
being about 17 inches and tipping
the scales at just over two pounds.

G-B drags
Four thousand persons jam-
med into Grand Bend Dragway
Sunday afternoon to watch the
regular schedule of drag events
and the special appearance of
Roger Harris of Riverview, Cali-
fornia and his J46 jet powered
dragster.
Harris' original attempt to set
a speed record was a failure when
water in the fuel mixture pre-
vented the motor from igniting.
After draining tanks and motor,
the jet thundered down the track
and reached a speed of 217 mph
in an elapsed time of 7.70 sec-
onds. The best speed turned in
by the jet powered dragster was
231 mph. Ow one of the runs the
car became airborne and Roger
had to shut off early.
