The annual meeting of the
Lucan WI was held in the Corn-
n_unity Centre Thursday after-
noon, with 15 members answer-
ing the roll-call with the pay-
ing of fees.
Mrs Cecil Robb and Mrs Ron
Crozier were named delegates
for the District Annual to be
held at Sylvan May 10. Mrs T. A.
Watson as president and Mrs
Sheridan Revington as district
director will also attend.
As the May meeting always
includes a trip, with a gift for
Mental Health patients as the roll
call, much time was spent dis-
cussing the 1966 place and time.
A doublering marriage cere-
mony was solemnized at 4 pm
Saturday April 9, in Holy Trinity
Church, Lucan when the Rev.
E. 0. Lancaster united in wed-
lock Carole Anne Davis and Gor-
don Timothy Alce.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Richard S. Davis
of George St., Lucan, and the
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon T. Alce of RR 1 Granton.
Given in marriage by her fath-
er the bride chose a floor-length
simple French peau de sole gown
featuring a scoop neckline and
long sleeves. A headpiece of
pearls and sequins held an elbow
length tulle veil and she carried
a cascade of daffodils.
Miss Norma Davis, as maid
of honor for her sister, and Miss
Judy Thomson of Lucan and Miss
Judy Rutledge of R i p 1 e y, as
bridesmaids were gowned alike in
floor-length empire styled
dresses, with white bodices dot-
ted with green and blue applique
at the waist-line and straight
skirts of blue nylon over taffeta.
Tlley 'carried' yellow carnations.
Four year old Deborah Davis
made a charming little flower
girl in a short yellow nylon dress,
white bonnet and white acces-
sories, carrying a basket of yel-
low carnations. Five year old
Robert Hodgins of Lucan was
ring-bearer.
100th Birthday
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas England
and family of Elizabeth St. were
among the 150 guests, who attend-
ed the 100th birthday celebration
for Mrs. England's grandmother,
Mrs. Margaftet Jane Craig of
Swift Current, Sask.
Mrs. Craig was the recipient of
a posthumous Military Cross for
her son, George, killed in World
War I and a Red Cross pin for
outstanding contribution, to wo-
men's work from 1914 to 1918.
The final tentative decision was
to visit the Elgin Museum at St.
Thomas and the Talbot Estate,
Wed. , May 15.
As a partial donation to the
arena, it was decided to purchase
a new flag, replace two trees and
to inquire into the price of a seat-
ing stand, beside the swimming
pool.
Miss Line. Abbott entertained
with an Irish reading and also
conducted a palindrome contest
between the "Montreal Cana-
Lens" and the "Detroit Red
Wings." The latter proved the
winner ( Could it be an omen)
For some time the possibility
Mr. Robert Overton of London
was best man.
Church organist, Mr. Gordon
Jacklin provided traditional wed-
ding music and accompanied 10
year old Sherrie Davis (sister
of the bride) who sang "The
Wedding Prayer".
At a dinner and reception held
in the Lucan Legion Hall, the
bride's mother received in a
three piece turquoise linen suit
with beige accessories and white
carnation corsage. She was as-
sisted by the groom's mother,
who chose a two-piece navy en-
semble with white and navy ac-
cessories and a white carnation
corsage.
For a honeymoon trip to Niag-
ara Falls and New York, the
bride changed to a white boucle
coat and dress, with black ac-
cessories and red carnations.
The young couple will make
their home in Weston, Ont.
The bride is a graduate of the
London Teachers' College and a
Grade I teacher at the Gulf Stream
Road school in Weston. The
groom is an employee of the CCM
Co. at Weston.
