Mr and Mrs Laird Mickle spent
Friday in Hamilton and attended
the concert Friday evening pre-
sented by the members of the
choir and concert band of the
Westdale Secondary School,
Charles Mickle and M r s. P.
Hepner, both teachers at the
school, were the organizers of
the choir and conducted it.
Mr and Mrs Lorne Eller of
Toronto, visited for a few days
with Mrs. Hugh McMurtrie.
Miss Ann Lawrence of London
was a weekend visitor with her
parents, Mr. & Mrs. Hilliard
Lawrence.
Mrs. Janet MacKinnon, who
has been a patient in South Huron
Hospital for the past week, re-
turned to her home Tuesday.
Mr. & Mrs. John Corbett and
Al were recent visitors with their
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. &
Mrs. Robert Chaffe and sons at
Mitchell.
Mr. & Mrs. Don MacLaren of
Oakville visited over the weekend
with the latter's parents, Mr. &
Mrs. Lorne Chapman and Rod.
Mr. & Mrs. William Baker
and family visited recently with
Mrs. Baker's father, Mr. Wood-
burn at Greenway.
Mrs. E. Ellis of Clinton spent
the past two weeks with her son-
in-law and daughter, Mr. & Mrs.
Lorne Chapman.
Mr. & Mrs, F. G. Bonthron
returned home after spending the
winter months in Florida.

Give annual reports
at Crediton WI meet

CREDITON
The Crediton WI met for their
annual meeting Wednesday even-
ing April 20. Following the var-
ious annual reports, Mrs. Ed.
Lamport displayed the district
and Crediton Tweedsmuir books.
The Hospital Auxiliary report
was given by Mrs. Rudolph.
An invitation was extended to
South Huron Women's Institutes
to come to Crediton for the
District Annual in 1967. Mrs.
Earl Neil reported on the pro-
gress of plans for the plowing
match in October. It was voted
to hold another barbecue in Aug-
ust and it was decided to con-
tinue the scrap books of local
news items. The report of the
nominating committee was read
by Mrs. Alf Smith. Mrs. Earl
Neil convened for the installation
of the new officers. Past Presi-
dent is Mrs. Earl Neil; Acting
president, Mrs. Lorne Hodge;
vice presidents, Mrs. Ross Krue-
ger, Mrs. Earl Haist; secretary,

The Canadian and American
Red Cross have a reciprocal
agreement to supply free blood
to tourists who may need trans-
fusions while visiting in their
neighbouring countries.

It was decided for the WI to be
responsible for the Cancer Can-
vass.
The program opened with the
singing of 0 Canada followed by
motto ""Whither are we going?"
given by Mrs. W. D. Mack. The
report on Scout work was given
by Mrs. Lorne Hodge who also
gave a reading.
Hostesses for the evening were
Mrs. Walter Weber, Mrs. Ru-
dolph, Mrs. Lorne Hodge, Mrs.
John Buxton, Mrs. Russell King,
Mrs. F. W. Morlock.

Mrs Vern Alderdice occupied
the chair at the annual meeting of
Kippen East WI held at the home
of Mrs Robert Gemrnell with Mrs
Stewart Pepper acting as co-
hostess. The roll call was an-
swered with payment of fees. Mrs
W. J. F. Bell reported the April
District Board meeting held in
Hensall. President Mrs Alder-
dice reported the load of food,
furniture and clothing given to a
family, who were burned out, and
thanked the leaders of the girls'
4-H Clubs.
Mr W. J. F. Bell conducted the
election of officers after Mrs
Glenn Bell brought in the slate.
Mrs Grant MacLean was installed
as president and conducted the
remainder of the meeting. Her
opening address and a humorous
reading augers well for the future
of Kippen East WI under her
leadership. Mrs Doug McGregor
read a poem and Mrs Alex Mc-
Gregor gave the history of
Tuckersmith. Mrs W. J. F. Bell
and Mrs Harry Caldwell under
the direction of Mrs Ross Broad-
foot, demonstrated some old time
dances. The attendance contest
will be continued with Mrs Alex
McGregor and Mrs Wm Gibson
as leaders. Mrs Wm Bell and Mrs
June Cooper volunteered to ar-
range a bus trip this spring.

Gift", followed by a story, pray-
er. Mrs. Currie gave a modern
day parable on "Tips and Ti-
thes", Miss Suzanne Rannie fav-
ored with two solos accompanied
at the piano by Mrs. J. Goddard.
Mrs. Grant MacLean contributed
a humorous reading.
Mrs. E. Rowe introduced the
guest speaker Mrs. W. G. Tiffin
of Wingham, who is a wife, moth-
er of four, teacher iniiighSchool
and Sunday School besides being
a devoted worker in the UCW.
Mrs. Tiffin spoke on "The Un-
comfortable Pew" and closed
her address with an original
poem.
Mrs. Tiffin said that "resis-
tance to Christianity is becoming
greater and pagan religions are
becoming stronger." Mrs. Elder
asked how members can be en-
ticed to attend meetings. It was
brought out that very few women
in the 20-30 age group ever attend
a UCW meeting although they are
committed church members.
Mrs, E. Chipchase reported
a bale is to be packed the first
week in June.
The roll call showed 46 mem-
bers present. Unit 2 served lunch.

Varied program for
UCW general meeting
Mrs. Harold Currie opened
the UCW general meeting with
a poem on stewardship followed
by prayer. Mrs. Walter Spencer

host jamboree
Hens all children's square
dance group will be host for the
Junior South Western Ontario
Spring square dance jamboree to
be held at Hensall Arena Friday
evening April 29 from '7,30 to 10
with three hundred dancers, 6 to
18 years, taking part from Lon-
don, St. Thomas, Byron, Tillson-
burg, Thamesford, Centralia,
Clinton, Hensall, Zurich and
Exeter. This association was
started three and a half years
ago, Earl Bowles, Instructor of
Radar and Communications CFB
Station, Clinton, is president.
This jamboree is open to the
public.
St. Pauls W.A.
hear report
At the April 20th meeting of
St. Paul's Anglican WA which
was held at the home of Mrs Tom
Lavender, the rector, Rev. J. P.
Gandon reviewed a further chap-
ter of the study book ‘‘Let God
Go Free” dealing with the dif-
ferent denominations.
Mrs Annie Reid, who attended
the annual WA meeting in London
April 19, gave an account of the
sessions. The smorgasbord held
April 16 proved very successful.
Walton girl
to show slides
Miss Linda Somerville of Wal-
ton, United Nations Student, will
narrate and show colored pic-
tures of her UN trip to New
York City, at Amber Rebekah
Lodge Hall, Hensall, Wednesday,
May 4 at 8;30 p.m. to which
Odufellows, Rebekahs and their
families will be welcome.
Deputy president
visits lodge
Mrs. Edna Caldwell,Hensall,
District Deputy President, paid
her offcial visit to Pride of Huron
Rebekah Lodge last Wednesday
evening.
A banquet in James Street
United Church in her honor at-
tended by 50 Rebekah members
preceded the meeting, which
was held in the Lodge rooms.
