Many bowlers
in play-offs
Five pin bowling continues at
a rapid rate as play-offs con-
tinue along with championship
tournaments and top notch ex-
hibitions. Saturday seven teams
from the Exeter minor bowling
set-up will be competing in the
Southern Lake Huron Zone play-
offs at Goderich. The winners
from Gpderich will take on the
best from the northern zone in a
final wind-up in Walkerton in
May.
A five game series between
Exeter and Goderich keglers at
the local alley will complete the
men's Intertown play for the
year. Competing in the lakeport
town last week, the Itchy Six of
Exeter were on the short end of
a 3-2 games count and a deficit
of 382 pins.
Over the past week a number
of bowlers reached the charmed
300 circle. Jim Hennessey 376,
Doug Brintnell 323, Bob Nicol
312, Eric Matzold 304, Don Cou-
ture 300, Pete Durand 301, Bill
Gilfillan 305 and Harold Patter-
son 326. Incidentally Patterson's
next game resulted in a tre-
mendous score of 66.
Jack Fuller came up with the
best game in many weeks as he
rattled the pins for one game
score of 402 as the Exeter Itchy
Six downed a Stratford team in
exhibition play.

Endorsement of the "MODA
means business" programme has
gained momentum with Perth
County Council's decision to ac-
cept membership on a county-
wide basis. This brings the muni-
cipal and township membership
hers, a re-evaluation of mem-
bership by certain municipalities
and the implementation of the

programme, that the ultimate
goal of $70,000 will be reached.
total to 68 out of a possible 80.
To date, Huron, Perth and
Wellington Counties, and four
communities from the County of
Waterloo have endorsed the MO-
DA programme. This leaves 12
communities and townships that
have not joined to date. Except
for the City of Stratford, these
municipalities are all located
in Waterloo County.
Under the new MODA fee sche-
dule, this gives the Association
approximately $21,000 towards
its desired budget of $70,000 for
the promotion and development
of the four-county region.
The existing Ontario Govern-
ment grant of $15,000 and the
recen tl y announced additional
grant of $10,000 will bring the
present total MODA budget to
$46,000.
