Palm Sunday, April 3 was
chosen for a confirmation service
at Brinsley United Church when
the Rev. John Davies entered
twelve teenagers into full mem-
bership of the church.
Rev. Davies was assisted with
the service by the elders on be-
half of the church presenting the
Bibles to the new members. Holy
Communion followed the presen-
tation and welcome.
Those joining were Carol Ro-
binson, Jacqueline Lewis, Kath-
erine Hodgson, Valerie Tweddle,
Ronald Hartle, Paul Hodgson,
George H. Lee, John Lee, Doug-
las Lee, Neil Trevithick, Wil-
liam Neil, and William Wasnidge.

Miss Ruth Trevithick of Eto-
bicoke visited with her parents,
Mr. & Mrs. Jack Trevithick last
weekend.
Mr. Charles Wilson had a suc-
cessful sale Friday. He plans on
moving to Lucan. Lynn Bros.

for SHDHS for 1966. She Is a
grade 10 student and was chosen
in final competition following the
showing of "A Tale of Two
Cities," the evening of March 18
and was crowned the following
week.

sitting in the main foyer for the
last feW days. The eggs began
hatching this week. This is a
very intriguing project and it is
also very educational.
House League standings for
the week of April 4 have been
announced, The Blue House is
first with 11,08'7 points, the yel-
low House is second with 8,204
points, the Green House is third
with 8,057' points and the White
House is fourth 7,671 points.

lake reported on the accident
survey which is being held in
Perth County beginning April 1.
Mrs. Lorne Fell and Mrs. Gerald

from Staffa. Institute. An invita-
tion to attend the Senior Citizens
meeting April 12 was accepted.
It was decided to sponsor a
play by the Seaforth Junior Far-
mers "The Bracelet of Doom".
It is to be held in Staffa Town-
ship hall Friday evening April
15 followed by a dance,
A letter was read from the
Institute's foster child and it was
decided to send a gift of money
to her soon. Mrs. Glanville, Mrs.
Miller and Mrs. Smale were the
committee named to plan for the
booth at Mr. Garnet Taylor's
sale.
PERSONALS
Mr. & Mrs. Cecil Bowman had
a successful sale of livestock,
feed and implements Wednesday,
March 30. They have sold their
farm to Duncan Scott but will
continue to live in the house,

STAFFA
Mrs. Cameron Vivian was hos-
tess for the Staffa WI meeting
held in the township hall Tuesday,
March 29. Dublin WI were guests
at this meeting which began at
11 am with a demonstration on
"Vegetables with a Flair". Mrs.
Gerald Agar, Mrs. Roy McDonald
and Mrs. Ed Chappel were in
charge of this demonstration
which was followed by a pot luck
dinner using the vegetable dishes
made plus others brought by the
members.
A quilting was enjoyed in the
afternoon along with the meeting.
Mrs. John Templeman presided.
The motto was "be kind to the
aged, your time will come". The
roll call was answered by "an
historical spot I would like to
visit". Mrs. Carter Kerslake had
the special feature and demon-
strated hooking a wool rug.
Mrs. Templeman gave an ac-
count of the District Directors
meeting which she and Mrs.
Kerslake had attended recently.
The District annual is to be held
Brenda Pinney is our school
Queen for 1965-66. Brenda was
chosen at the At Home Dance
Friday night, April I. Congratu-
lations Brenda!
The denee was very success-
ful. All of the Couples seemed
to thoroughly enjoy themselves,
Most of the girls wore floor-
length dresses. The gowns were
all colors, with pink, green and
blue being the predominate col-
ors. Dresses with empire waist-
lines were very prevalent.
The gym was beautifully decor-
ated, A huge sea horse made of
different colored paper flowers
was in the centre of the floor.
The entrance was decorated with
wall. murals, fish nets and cobble
stones, Linda Gesell() and the
thirty-nine people who worked
with her deserve a great deal of
credit.
Fancy sandwiches, cakes and a
delicious punch were served for
lunch by the Home Ec. classes
and members of the Home Ee.
club.
The orchestra played several
numbers, ranging from today's
Watusi to the Charleston of the
Roaring 20's.
It was very nice to see Mr.
Nathan and Mr. Rickert and their
wives again. I hope they enjoyed
themselves as much as we enjoy-
ed seeing them.
I think that all would agree
that this' was the best At Home
the school has ever had.
Students from SHDHS will as-
sist in the annual blitz for the
Canadian Cancer Society Cam-
paign for 1966. The blitz will
be held in Exeter, Thursday,
April 21. Captains from SHDHS

Grainger, Malcolm Hiltz, Eliza-
beth Snell, Jayne Southcott, Joan
Dettmer, Margi May, Mary Jane
Sanders, Shirley Snider, Brenda

Bosch. Each captain is recruit-
ing three people. If you would

The WSWS of the Evangelical
UB church held their monthly
meeting April 1, Mrs. Carl Oes-
treicher as chairlady opened the
devotional period with a series
of Easter poems and the back-
ground story of "There is a
Green Hill Far Away".
Rev. Merrill James led an
interesting discussion on the
topic "Christian Citizenship".
He was assisted by Mrs, Carl
Oestreicher, Mrs. Ken McCrae,
Mrs. Hugh Boyle, Mrs. Ralph
Weber, Mrs. Ross Guenther and
Mrs. Howard Klumpp,
A chorus in keeping with the
topic was sung by Janice Tiernan,
Jane Guenther, SusanGrigg, Judy
Mason, and Betty Guenther.
The president, Mrs. Carl Oes-
treicher, conducted the business.
Good used winter clothing is to
be left at the church by April
30. Three quilts quilted by the
ladies will be sent to the Men-
nonite Relief Centre. It was de-
cided to order supplies for work
for the Save the Children Fund.
The flower and sunshine com-
mittee for April is Mrs. Hugh
Boyle and Mrs. Ken McCrae.
