June no longer holds top honors
as the "month of weddings."
April, May and even September
and October are rivalling June
for wedding popularity,
Locally, according to all in-
dications, April is to be a popu-
lar month this year and busy
hostesses are planning to"show-
er" their favorite brides. We
offer you some novel goodies to
serve on these occasions,
IERE-COMES-THE-BRIDE
CAKE
The guest of honor will be
thrilled when, this beautiful cake
appears. It looks difficult but is
really simple to prepare and
assemble. The bride's skirt is
a conventional cake baked in a
fluted jelly mold. The bride her-
self is a dime store doll, trim-
med with a touch of organza for
bodice and veil. The final touch
is a simple scalloping with color-
ed frosting on her billowy
"skirt."
2 1/2 cups sifted cake flour
3 tp baking powder
1/2 tp salt
4 egg whites
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup soft butter
1 tp vanilla
1 cup milk
Butter an 8 1/2 inch fluted
tube pan. Sift together the flour,
baking powder and salt. Beat egg
whites until stiff, but not dry.
Gradually beat in 1/4 cup of the
sugar. Set aside.
Cream butter; gradually beat in
remaining 3/4 cup sugar. Stir
vanilla into milk. Add dry in-
gredients to creamed mixture,
alternately with milk, combining
lightly after each addition. Fold
in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Spread evenly in prepared pan.
Bake in 350 degree oven 50 to
55 minutes.
Place cooled cake on a pretty
serving plate. Place a small plas-
tic doll, trimmed with bridal veil,
in center of cake. Frost doll's
skirt with prepared frosting. Us-
ing decorating tubes, trim the
"skirt" with pink frosting.
had the flames on the roof under
control. It is believed that the fire
started from sparks from the
chimney. Mr. Finkbeiner also
expressed his appreciation for
the quick response of the Cre-
diton Fire Brigade and neighbors.
He stated that he felt it could
have been a serious fire had this
stranger not noticed the flames
as he and his family were about
to sit down to supper and prob-
ably would not have noticed the
fire until it was well out of hand.
The fourth meeting of the Cre-
diton Cuties was held at the
Community Centre Saturday,
March 26.
Notes were taken on shoes and
their care and hand bags and
their care.
Club 1 did a sample of tie
dyeing and Club 2 were shown
how to stretch grosgrain ribbon
and how to sew it on in the mak-
ing of a hat.
The next meeting will be held
April 2.

for an unknown passerby who
stopped long enough Sunday after-
noon to inform them that their
house was on fire. He stopped
only long enough to deliver his
message and express his regret
that he could not stay to help be-
