annual meet
The annual meeting and dance
of the Lucan Junior Farmers was
held in the Lucan Legion Hall,
Friday evening, Feb. 11 with
the Legion Auxiliary catering for
the dinner.
The guest speaker, Hamilton
Hodgins, was introduced by Fred
Culbert. Mr. Hodgins spoke on
"The Federation of Agricul-
ture". His talk was followed by
the election of officers for 1966.

a large attendance in the Com-
munity Centre Thursday after-
noon for the "Agriculture and
Canadia.e. Industries" meeting.
Roll call was answered by the
naming of an unusual Canadian
Industry.
During the business session it
was decided to again assist in
maintaining a foster child and
also to leave the choosing of a
delegate to the Guelph Confer-
ence, with a committee.
Mrs. Alex Young, Mrs. Ron
Crozier, Mrs. Harold Hodgins
and Mrs. Jack Lankin were nam-
ed as a committee to be in charge
of the Feb. euchre. A quilt top
was donated for the Harrigan's
with the WI to provide lining and
batting.

Prior to moving to their new
home at Southwold near Dela-
ware, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stokes
of the Coursey Road were guests
of honor when their friends and
-neighbors met at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hodgins
Friday night. The evening was
spent in progressive euchre, with
seven tables in play.
High score prizes went to Mrs.
Charles Grose and Mr. Stuart
Thompson and low soore prizes
to Mrs. Evan Hodgins and Mr.
Eric Hodgins. Special lucky chair
prizes went to Mr. and Mrs,
Harry Stokes (the best looking
couple present).

him for many days", On enlarg-
ing on the motto, Mrs. Young

ed home from a two week, train
trip to Winnipeg, where she was
the guest of her son, Mr. Lee
Simpson and family.

onto, was a weekend guest of
Mrs. Erle Young and family.
Mr. Frank Egan has been
transferred from the Hamilton
Branch of the Bank of Montreal
to the Dunnville Branch,

called on Miss Line Abbott, last
Wednesday.
Friday night Mrs. Murray Hod-
gins attended a joint meeting of
the Board of Directors and the
Summer Camp Committee, which
was held in the Robinson Me-
morial Church, London.
As Luca n's representative,
Mrs. Cecil Robb last Monday
attended the Middlesex Safety
Council meeting,
said she knew little about "fish"
so she substituted "wheat".
She introduced the guest speak-
er, Mrs. Emerson Stanley, who
gave an interesting Illustrated
talk on her recent trip to the
British Isles, at the close of
which she showed some local
pictures, taken by Mrs. Erwin
Scott of Lucan WI members on
the bus trip to the Adelaide
Hoodless homestead.
Mrs. Sheridan Revington mov-
ed a vote of thanks to Mrs. Stan-
ley after which lunch was served
by Mrs. IL B. Langford, con-
vener and her assistants, Mrs.
Harold Hodgins, Mrs. Alex Young
Mrs. Jack Lankin and president
Mrs. T. A. Watson.
Cancer society
At a meeting of the Lucan
Branch of the London-Middlesex
Cancer Society! in the Shillelagh
Motel, last Wednesday, field sec-
retary J. A. Lambert of the Pro-
vincial Cancer Society -was the
guest speaker on the forth-coin-
ing campaign.
The meeting was also called
to elect the officers for 1906.

held their 12th Expedition in the
Anglican Parish Hall last Monday
evening. Chief Explorer Helen
Simpson and Keeper of the Log,
Linda Hodgins were on duty.
Wendy Ryan gave her research
on Dr. Grenfell, Mrs. William
Froats led in a discussion on
"What is the church?" and "What
is a Christian?" Mrs. Ross Mc-
Roberts told the story, "Home -makers" after which the group

Park with two goals, won over
Huron East 4-1, Allan Van Fleet
and Dennis Wraith were the other
goal scorers. It is worth men-
tioning that all the scoring was
done by players brought up from
the local squirt team,
The bantam game played to a
5-5 tie. Local scorers were Jim
Hearn with two goals, singles
going to Tom Hodgins, Allan
Krawl and Jim Nagle,
Lucan midgets were vastly out-
classed by Huron as the visitors
easily won 7-2. The only locals
who were able to penetrate the
visitors defense, were Ken Ready
and Paul Kopel.
