The first game of OMHA play-
offs pitted Dorchester against
Lucan at the local arena. In pee
wee action Lucan was defeated
6-1. The only local scorer was
Allan Krawl with assists going to
Van Fleet and Buddo.
Lucan bantams won over Dor-
chester 5-3. Irish goal scorers
were Tom Hodgins with two goals
and one assist. Single goalgetters
were Jim Ilearn, Jim Nagle and
Mike O'Neil.
Lucan midgets played one of
their better games as they shut-
out Dorchester 6-0 in a penalty
infested game.
Andy Hardy led the locals with
two goals, singles by Bob Laye,
Paul Kopal, Bill Haskett and Ken
Rush.

John Van Bynen were ushers,
Miss Betty Morkin provided
traditional wedding music and
accompanied the soloist, Mr, Alf
Kerchhaert, RR 4 Denfield.
At a reception held in the
Parkhill Community Centre, the
bride's mother received in a
black nylon street-length dress,
topped with sequins. She wore
a yellow rose corsage, She was
assisted by the groom's mother,
who chose a navy blue silk gown,
with a white rose corsage.
For a honeymoon trip to the
USA the bride changed to a cot-
ton suit featuring a sky blue top
and black skirt,
The young couple will make
their home in London.
The groom is an employee of
the Bank of Montreal on Welling-
ton St. South, London.
SHAMROCK SQUIRT LEAGUE
Lucan squirts made it 12 wins
in a row as they defeatedStoney-
brook 4-3.
Dennis Wraith scored 2 goals
with singles going to Allan Van
Fleet and Billy Goddard supply-
ing the winner.
The second game saw Strath-
roy clobber Dorchester '7-2. Tile
final was a real close match all
the way as Exeter and Lambeth
played to one all tie.

and Hank Van Bynen in St. Pat-
rick's Catholic Church, Biddulph,
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Vens of Alice
St., Lucan, and the groom is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Adrian
Yap Bynen of Denfield.
Given in marriage by her fath-
er the bride wore a floor-length
gown of peau de sole, featuring
a tight-fitting lace bodice, long
lily point sleeves and skirt with a
slight train. A pearl head-piece
held her waist-length net veil.
She carried a cascade of red
American roses, stephanotis, and
ivy.
Mrs. Joseph Verhallen of Lon-
don as matron of honor for her
sister and Miss Jany Van Bynen
of Denfield as bridesmaid, were
gowned alike in street-length

The body rested at the C. Has-
kett & Son funeral home, Lucan,
until 2 pm Friday Feb. 11 when
the Rev. Wm. 13. Wigmore of
London conducted funeral ser-
vices. Interment was in Arva
Cemetery.
Pallbearers included T er r y
and Arthur Poole, Beverley
Hughes, Harold Williams and Ken
and Reid Coulthard. Flower bear-
ers were Michael Poole, Glen
Shackleton, Len Brown and Nor-
man Templeton.
Besides his wife former Eliz-
abeth Mary Dickson, he is sur-
vived by three sons and three
daughters, George, Charles and
Leonard Poole all of London,
Emily (Mrs. Richard Williams),
London, Gladys (Mrs. Gordon
Hughes) RR 4 Ilderton, Bessie
(Mrs. David Coulthard) RR 7 St.
Marys, 18 grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.
Born in England, Mr. Poole
lived as a boy in Exeter. While
there he served as bell ringer
at Tr ivitt memorial Church.
Early in 1900 he moved to Lon-
don, where he married Elizabeth
Mary Dickson. For many years
he owned, and operated a butcher
shop, at the corner of Oxford and
Waterloo. He also farmed on
Concession 13, London Township,
near Birr. On retiring h e re-
turned to London where he re-
sided until Nov. 1965, when he
went to live with his daughter

CGIT meeting
Owing to the Explorers using
the UC schoolroom, the Lucan-
Clandeboye CGIT met in the Per-
ish Hall, last Monday evening.
The worship service was taken
by Marilyn Hearn and Marilyn
Smith based on the study book
,,Called to be ", after which
the membership was divided into
two groups, Mrs. Murray Hod-
gins taking the seniors and Miss
Dana Culbert, the intermediates,
to complete a written quiz. This
wa's followed by group discus-
sions.
Jane Crozier and Janyce Grose
were presented with their white
lanyards.
Lucan Merchants came up with
their strongest performance of
the season as they won over tile
fast skating Ailsa Craig Flyers
2-0. Carl Neil playing his first
game in the nets was brilliant
on several occasions as he rang
up Lucan's first shut out of the
season. Irish goal getters were
Leo Dewan who is a regular
scorer for Lucan and Gord Hod-
gins.
An estimated 10 million people
will visit Expo, spending an aver-
age of three days on the grounds.

guitar students
For the past two years Mr.
Neil Degraw of London, a gra-
duate of the Ontario Conservat-
ory of Music and the holder of
an international music league
certificate from Ohio, had had a
studio on William St. Lucan.
This year he has a class of
24 steel guitar pupils. At a re-
cent examination here, nine of
the 24 proved a credit to them-
selves and their teacher, when
they were examined by Mr.
Thomas Barnes of the Sarnia
Academy of Musical Arts.
First class honours went to
Erwin Gebel, Herman Wilk, Ann
Regier, Ron Riddell and Dennis
Maguire; honors, Geraldine Bo-
land, Roy Willis and Andy Hardy;
pass, Leona Beswarick.
Prior to this examination three
of these nine players participated
in the Ontario Music Festival in
Sarnia, where Ann Regier and
Geraldine Boland each won a
first and Erwin Gebel a second.
Mr. Degraw has a class in
Strathroy and Parkhill. Pupils
3, from the three classes will be
taking part in the Strathroy Music
Recital, sponsored by the Acad-
emy of Musical Arts, in the near
future.

Four voting delegates were
chosen to attend the annual Mid-
dlesex Presbytery in the Wesley
United Church, London, Feb. 24.
They are Mrs. Sheridan Reving-
ton, Mrs. Wm. Froats, Mrs. Ro-
bert Stutt and Mrs. C. H. George.
It was announced that Mrs. Warn-
er McRoberts, (still a patient in
St. Mary's Hospital) was donating
her piano to the new extension to
the church.
Following the business all went
up to the church, where the pre-
sident introduced the gu e s t
speaker, Miss Jean Darling RN,
Medical Missionary, from India,
who showed slides and curios and
told of her work in India.
Mrs. Orville Jones and Mrs.
Emerson Stanley led in the wor-
ship service, Wendy Elston, ac-
companied by her sister, Sheila,
sang two solos. Mrs. Sheridan
Revington moved a vote of thanks
to Miss Darling and all who as-
sisted in the program. All re-
turned to the schoolroom for re-
freshments and social half hour.
Members of Lucan's other
churches and also Clandeboye
church members had been invited
as guests to the meeting.
Anglican
The postponed meeting of the
Sr. Woman's Auxiliary was held
at the home of Mrs. Harold Hod-
gins last Wednesday afternoon
with 17 members. The new pre-
sident Mrs. P. O. King presided
and Mrs. T. C. McFarlane was
assistant hostess.
Miss Lina Abbott assisted the
educational secretary, Mrs. Har-
old Hodgins, by reading one of
four letters from the Living Mes-
sage on '•Women's Work in the
Church", while Mrs. Hodgins
read an appropriate poem.
Mrs. T. A. Hodgins reported
on the Dorcas work and the
articles purchased for the bale.
Two quilts, which were quilted
recently, were on display.
The Women's Day of Prayer
will be held Feb. 25 in the
Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Feb. 23, being Ash Wednesday,
the WA members will attend in
a body for corporate communion
at 10 am.
The next meeting will be held
at the home of Mrs. Hilton Ro-
berts.

POTATOES Accident
Sunday Feb. 6, while prepar-
ing dinner, Mrs. Gordon Banting
fell down her basement stairs.
Although she broke no bones,
she did receive many bruises and
is still confined to her bed. Her
daughter, Mrs. Harold Cobleigh,
of the Public School staff, stayed
with her until a London friend
Miss Mabel Wilson came to her
assistance and is still there.

nine-table euchre in the Legion
Hall last Saturday night.
High score prizes went Weirs.
Wm. Shipway and Mr, Cardy.
Mrs. Harry Bond and Mrs. Len
Fisher tied for the lone hand
ladies' prize and Mr. Len Fish-
er won the men's prize. Mrs.
Hiram Bieber and Mrs. Robert
Holland tied for the ladies' low
prize and Mr. Bill Allen won the
men's low prize.
The next game will be March 3.
WI Euchre
At an eight-table euchre spon-
sored by the WI in the Commun-
ity Centre last Wednesday night,
high score prizes went to Mrs.
Sheridan Revington and Mrs. El-
len Whelihan, (playing a man's
card); lone hand prize to Mrs.
Cecil Neil and low score prizes
to Mrs. J. R. Murray and Mrs.
Jack Lankin (playing a man's
card). Mr. Tom Ryan won the
box of groceries.
The next game will be Feb. 23.
