MESSENGERS MEET The Messengers met in the schoolroom of the church Sunday morning at the usual time. A poem was read by Mary Shoe- bottom and Lois May Elliott read a story. A film was shown. The group's money-mak 1 ng project for the year was the sale of Christmas cards with the net proceeds amounting to $77.87. Fifty dollars of this amount was donated to the M & M fund through the White Gift service. PERSONALS Mr. Alfred Williams of Trini- dad, a teacher at the South Huron District High School will be guest speaker at the UCW meeting Thursday evening. David Lilley of London was a weekend visitor with his grand- mother, Mrs. Arthur McFalis. Mrs. Albert Smith was aSunday visitor with Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Smith and Penny. The Bantam team plays the first game and will leave the Arena at 7 am and the following players are playing Don Schenk, Murray Hodge, Allan McLean, Ron Ferguson, Jack Darling, Bob Rowe, Larry Smith, Ron Gras- dahi, Gordon McDonald, Bob Par- sons and John Fahner. The pee Wee team leaves the Arena at 8 am and the listed players are asked to be on hand, Allan Parsons, Peter Mason, Larry Fulton, Craig Webber, Philip Moore, Wayne Brintnell, Dennis Ferguson, Doug Miners, Randy Gilfillan, Butch Johnston, Bill Inch. The Squirt team leaves the Arena at 9 am and the following players to be on hand, David Brintnell, Brian Taylor, Peter Armstrong, Jim Wildfong, Martin Dykstra, Ricky Stagg, Mark Tuckey, Van Tuckey, John Wuerth, Leslie Page, Danny Brintnell. The election of officers was conducted, President is Mrs. Wm. The Maple Leafs had their hands full with the Canadiens on Saturday morning but came on to win with a score of 5-4. Dale (Pickels) Parkin and Barry Smithers each scored 2 goals for the Leafs with a single goal by Randy Preszcator. Defence- man Robbie Lindenfield was a 2 goal man for the Canadiens with single goals byJohnKrampp and Paul McKnight. The Wings came on strong to defeat the Black Hawks 3-1 in the second game. Pius Dietrich in his first season of hockey scored the first goal for the Wings with Peter Klein- stiver and Robert Ryckman each adding a goal to the cause. For the Black Hawks Ron Brintnell scored the only goal to avoid a white-wash. In Novice hockey the Blue Wings defeated the Red Wings 4-0. The scoring was divided among four players, Brian Vitk- errnan, John Vriese, Les Marley and Brian Taylor. Detroit defeated Toronto in Squirt hockey with Ken Pinder and Steven Willert each scoring a goal. The lone goal for Tor- onto was scored by a much im- proved hockey player B obb y Brand. Games this week: Wings vs Canadiens 8-9 Black Hawks vs Maple Leafs 9-10 Blue Wings vs Red Wings 10-11 Toronto vs Detroit and Mites 11-12. As all are aware by now this Saturday starting at 6:30 Exeter Minor Hockey Association will celebrate Minor Hockey Week in Canada with four games. Lucan tackles the Exeter Novice team at 6:30. St. Marys Pee Wee's take on the Exeter team at 7:30 in what should be a very good game. The Bantam game starts at 8:30 and two very evenly matched teams St. Marys and Exeter lock horns. These same two teams tied with shots on goal at the Lucan tournament last week. Last but not the least the (high flying) Midgets will play the LondOn (All Star) Midgets in a game that will keep everyone on the edge of their seats (this is apromise). So for a full night of hockey (the best that can be seen in mi- nor hockey) come to the Arena Saturday night. The whole family gets in for $1.00 with single adult admission at 54.
