in RCAF hockey
The Officers came up with a
pair of wins last week and now
38 lead the RCAF Inter-Mess Hock-
37 ey League by two points over the
33 Airmen, The Officers defeated
21 the Airmen 5-3 last Tuesday and
19 then came up with a 6-2 victory
8 over the NCO club on Thursday
to bring their season record to
6-2-1 for 13 points.
The Airmen clipped the third
place Cadets 4-1 on Sunday to
54 remain three points up on the
51 improving C ade t squad. The
64 NCO's have won only two games
71 while losing seven and are cur-
55 rently in fourth place four points
56 behind the Cadets. The Cadets
54 now have eight points on four

OFFICERS RE-ELECTED
The congregational meeting of
Whalen United Church was held
Tuesday evening in the Church
Hall with Rev. D. M. Guest pre-
siding. Gordon Johnson was ap-
pointed secretary for the meet-
ing.
The elders and board of stew-
ards were all returned to their
same offices. The treasurer re-
ported a good year financially.
A short S.S. meeting was held
with the superintendent, teachers
and other officers returned again.
Lunch was served at the close.

Mr. Bert Duffield is a patient
at St. Marys Memorial Hospital.
Miss Diane Sanderson, Tor-
onto, was a weekend guest of Mr.
& Mrs. Norman Hodgins,
Messrs Gordon, Grant and Al-

meeting and dinner of the Western
Ontario Aberdeen Angus As-
sociation at the Administration
Building at the Western Fair
Grounds, London Saturday even-

the game into a ten minute over-
time frame,
The Combines' Ernie Little
blanked Seaforth in the third
as Doug Galloway and Norm Noble
knotted the score at two all.
Galloway's first of two goals
came at the 4:33 mark of the
period with Barry Hearn and
Dusty Aldis drawing assists.
Noble's marker was scored with
one second remaining in the game
with Little out of the net in favour
of an extra attacker. Hearn and
Aldis assisted on the tying goal
that eent the game into the over-
time session.
The Combines began to put
the pressure on at the start of
the period and their persistence
paid off when Galloway scored
an unassisted goal at the 22
second mark to give the home-
sters a 3-2 lead,
Defensema,n Larry Hossack
drew an interference penalty at
5:26 of the period and the Beavers
stormed to the attack. The Lucan

There is a three team fight for
fourth place in the Exeter Legion
Mixed Dart L e a g u e but the
Plumbers extended their first
place lead to three points with
a 4-1 victory over the Blue Birds.
The Plumbers who have led the
loop since the start of the year
now have 45 points while the
second place Sharpshooters have
42 points after Fridays 3-2 win
over the Cleaners.
The Blue Birds are currently
in third place with 36 points while
the Cleaners, Featherflights and
Itchy Four are all tied for fourth
one point behind the Blue Birds.
The Featherflights edged the
Champs 3-2 and the Itchy Four
squeezed by the Legionnaires by
the same score to tie for the
fourth position.
The Champs have the lowest
point total with 21 while the
Legionnaires are in fifth place
with a total of 31.
In the individual department
Marj Edwards leads the ladies
in games won for the season with
12 while Bill Smith and Keith
Brintnell are tied for the mens
lead with 23 games each.

Results from
Curling Club
Bernice Cann, Jean Weber and
Barb Bell are the current leaders
in the Exeter Ladies' Curling
Club's second draw.
After the third week of com-
petition, Bernice Cann who de-
feated Helen Webber 9-6 last
Tuesday, is undefeated and holds
a comfortable lead in the Tuesday
draw while only two points separ-
ate first and second place in the
Wednesday night competition.
Jean Weber edged Lee Dobbs
8-7 last Wednesday to bring her
point total to 28, two more than
second place Edna Busche who
was defeated by Marilyn Mar-
shall by a 12-5 score. In other
Wednesday action Dorothy Pfaff
edged Dorothy Marks B--7, Helen
Jermyn defeated Edith Boyle 12-
5 and Pauline Simmons and
Norma Parsons played to a 6-6
standoff.
Barb Bell defeated Helen Burt-
on 7-5 to take a five point lead
over second place Barb Elliot in
the Thursday draw. Elliot trounc-
ed Jane McDowell by a 15-2
score but was still unable to catch
the Bell foursome. Audrey Mc-
Donald defeated Helen Mickle 14-
4 and Mary Fran Geiser whipped
Daisy Etherington 12-4 in other
Thursday play.

Frayne defeated Mary Fisher
8-4, Ellen Knight took Willa
