WILLIAM ROHDE THAMES ROAD A combined White Gift service was held Sunday morning in the auditorium of the church. Mr. 'Victor Jeffery, superintendent of the Sunday School, was in charge of the service. The choir sang two anthems. Jim Snow read the scripture lesson, Mrs. Ray Cann read the story "Why The Chimes Rang". Rev. Andrew Boa gave an in- teresting talk. The church was decorated for Christmas. On the communion table there was a manger scene where a member of each Sunday School class lay their offering. CHRISTMAS CONCERT Friday evening the a n nu al Christmas concert was held in the church basement with a real good crowd in attendance. Mr. Victor Jeffery was chair- man for the program which con- sisted of recitations, musical numbers, vocal solos, an EdSul- liven program and a skit "The Art of Eating". Rev. Andrew Boa told a story. Santa Claus arrived and gifts were handed out from a well laden tree. VESPER SERVICE Mrs. Jack Hern, Mrs. Howard pym, leaders of the CGIT were in charge of the Vesper Service which was held Sunday evening in the church. Mrs. Philip Johns was the pianist for the evening. Quite a number of the girls took part in the service. PERSONAL Mr. & Mrs. William Rohde visited with Mr. & Mrs. Jim Rohde of Mitchell Sunday. By MRS. G. HOOPER Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Grasby, Debbie and Linda of London visi- ted Sunday evening with Mr. & Mrs. Claire Sisson. Mr. & Mrs. Wm..Jones, Carl, Edwin and Donna were Saturday evening guests of Mr. & Mrs. Max Bilyea of Glendale. Miss Ruth G. Hooper of Tor- onto, Miss Veryl Hooper of Wood- stock were weekend guests of Mr. & Mrs. Gladwyn Hooper, Brenda Ball, St. Marys, was a weekend visitor with Barbara Hodgson. Miss Eileen McKenna, St. Marys, spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Laverne Morley. Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Bieber, Exeter visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Hiram Bieber. Mr. & Mrs. Norman Hodgins visited in London Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Larry Kilpatrick. Barbara Bieber, London, spent the weekend at her home here. Mrs. Mildred Klahre was in Toronto Tuesday. Mr. & Mrs. Laverne Morley and Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Abbott attended the dinner Thursday evening at Biddulph C e nt r al School sponsored by the trustees. Mr. & Mrs. Alex Baillie re- ceived word on Friday from Van- couver of the death on Thursday of Mrs. Mary Russell, sister of Mr. Baillie. Mrs. Russell was in her 83rd year. Mr. & Mrs. Laverne Morley visited Friday evening with Mr. & Mrs. 0. E. Webb, Granton. Mr. Frank Parkinson and Glenn spent Sunday with Mrs. Evelyn White, London. Mr. & Mrs. Ken Hodgson enter- tained 40 guests Friday evening at the recreation centre honoring the 16th birthday of their daugh- ter, Barbara, Mr. & Mrs. Alton Neil assisting. The evening was spent in dancing. Lunch was served. Callers with Mr. & Mrs. Alex Baillie during the past week were Mr. & Mrs. Thos. Simpson, Miss Cora Nuttycomb and Mrs. Myrtle Shorthill, London. Mr. & Mrs. Hamilton Hodgins attended the Middlesex Soil and Crop Improvement Association banquet in the Community Hall at Ilderton Thursday evening. Saturday evening they attended the annual meeting of the C aradoc and Delaware Townships banquet at Delaware. UCW ELECTS OFFICERS The UCW Christmas meeting of Whalen United Church was held at the home of Mrs. Gordon Johnson Wednesday afternoon with 12 members answering the roll call. The theme of the meet- ing was “Where will you be at Christmas Mrs. Eric Attwood presided for the devotional part of the meeting and was assisted by Mrs. McLeod. Mills. Mrs. Bert Duffield was in charge of the business. Members donated fruit or eggs and a toy to be sent to the Thos. Alway Home, London. Plans for SS concert in the church hall Friday evening were com- pleted. It was decided to meet on the second Wednesday of each month for the coming year instead of Thursday. There was an ex- change of gifts among members. Mrs. Duffield moved a vote of thanks to all who assisted her during the past two years as president.
