Five hundred and fifty bags of candy and potato chips and 418 bottles of chocolate milk (the latter donated by Ron Mock of Hurondale Dairy) were handed out. For the first time in history they ran out of candy and chips having prepared for 480 and had to order more. The town hall was jammed for the showing of several cartoon films with Bill Fuss in charge of the projector. Treats were given out byChief Health Unit The Huron County Health Unit staff and board members held their Christmas banquet at the Hotel, Hensall, Saturday evening. Dr. Aldiss and Mr. Empey from Goderich were in charge of the arrangements. During the evening Dr. Thomas Meladie and Mrs. Meladie who are leaving this district were presented with gifts. Dr. Aldiss presented the gift on behalf of the staff and Mr. John Morrissey presented the gift from the Board of Health. An enjoyable evening was spent with a good attendance. of Police E. R. Davis, Reeve Norman H. Jones, and Clerk Earl Campbell assisted by sev- eral members of the Senior Citi- zens Club. Arnold circle view slides The Christmas meeting of the Presbyterian Arnold Circle was held in the church auditorium Monday evening and guests pre- sent reminisced with Mrs. Jack McEwen and her colored slides of her many trips. President Mrs. Gordon Sch- walm chaired the meeting and the theme of the worship period was "Peace" with Mrs. Mildred Bell and Mrs. Lloyd Mousseau. A singing quartette, Mrs. Homer Campbell, Mrs. John Baker, Mrs. Al Hoggarth & Mrs. Bob Bell entertained with Christmas songs. Mrs. Earl Campbell installed the officers for 1966. New cradle roll helper to be Mrs. Roland Vanstone. Mrs. McEwen and Mrs. Malcolm Dougall, who helped with the showing of the slides, were thanked by Mrs. John Baker. Life membership certificates were presented to Mrs. Trevor Wilson and Mrs. Lloyd Mous- seau by Mrs. Stewart Bell. Dec- orations in the church for the Christmas season will be done by Mrs. Don Mousseau, Mrs. Bob Bell, and Mrs. Bonthron. nursing home Mrs. Gerald Godbolt of Exeter and nine members of her Sunday School class of James St. United Church, Exeter, and Mrs. Jack Fuller, visited at the Queensway Nursing Home, Hensall, Sunday morning at 10 am and entertained two of the patients there, Miss Olive Prior, and Mr. Norman McDonald. George Godbolt and John Godbolt, sons of Mrs. God- bolt, sang with guitar accompan- iment by John. The members of the class also sang. Sunday morning at 11 am nine Messengers from Hensall United Church called at the Queensway Nursing Home and presented each patient with a Christmas candle. A vocal duet "Frosty The Snow- man" was sung by Cindy Parker and Judith Mickle. Mrs. Clendon Christie and Mrs. Jack Corbett were in charge of the project. Cake draw Mrs. Ron Wareing was hostess for the Kinette Club meeting Wednesday evening, December 8 when members were informed that their annual Christmas cake draw was successful with pro- ceeds gratifying. The December 22nd meeting has been cancelled owing to the Christmas rush. Mrs. Harold Caldwell was the, winner of the raffle. Next meeting will be held at the home of Past President Mrs. John Baker January 12. Presi- dent Mrs. Wm. Fuss chaired the meeting. The annual meeting of the La- dies Aid of Cromarty church was held at the home of the pre- sident Mrs. James M. Scott, Mitchell. mrs. Gerald Carey and Mrs. Mervin Dow conducted de- votions. Mrs. Eldon Allen gave a reading. During the business period the ladies decided to have a new bookcase installed in the church basement. The treasurer report- ed a substantial balance. The officers named for 1966 are: President, Mrs. James Scott; vice presidents, Mrs. Ger- ald Carey, Mrs. Eldon Allen; secretary, Mrs. John Wallace; treasurer, Mrs. T. L. Scott; work committee, Mrs. Mervin Dow, Mrs. Grace Scott, Mrs. Thomas Laing, Mrs. Robert Dodds, Miss Olive Speare and Mrs. James Miller. SUNDAY SERVICE Communion service was ob- served at Cromarty church Sun- day and was well attended. Young people received on profession of faith were, Joanne Templeman, Fay Templeman, Darlene Tem- pleman, Bonnie Miller, Agnes Scott, Murray Haines and Alec Scott. MARK ANNIVERSARY Mr, and Mrs. Alex Ramsey entertained members of their family at a turkey dinner at their home Sunday, observing the thirt- ieth anniversary of their mar- riage, They were recipients of The highlights of the Christ- mas meeting of liensall Women's Institute held Wednesday evening December 8, in the Legion Hall was the presentation of a skit "The Shawl" under direction of Mrs. Rodger Venner. Ladies portraying the roles were Mrs. Pearl Koehler, Mrs. T, J. Sherritt, Mrs. Wilbert Pil- ling, Mrs. V. M. Pyette and Mrs. Venner, Members answered the roll call by naming '"My Favourite Christmas Carol". Mrs. Rodger Venner contributed a reading and Mrs. Fred Beer cendected a period of Christmas carols ac- companied at the piano by Miss Greta Lammie. Mrs. Al Scholl and Mrs. Beverly Beaton sang a duet "Star of the East", ac- cempanied by Mrs. Beatrice Hess of Zurich. A special collection of $28 was taken up which will be given to the Children's Aid Society at Goclerich, Mrs. R, M, peck gave courtesy remarks. President Mrs. Beaton cell- ducted the business and Mrs. N. E. Cook, the program. Con- venors were Mrs. V. M. Pyette, Mrs. Wilbert Pilling; hostesses, Mrs. Harry Horton, Mrs. Len purdy.
