New Grain Drier
goes into operation Yes! We've expanded our Elevator. The picture shows the four
60 ft. high grain storage tanks and the large grain drier that
has been added to the Grain Elevator that was built in 1955.
The addition gives an extra 40,000 bushels of storage capacity.
The new grain drier with a drying capacity of from 400 bushels
to 500 bushels an hour replaces four smaller driers. The large
tanks in the foreground are propane storage tanks to supply.
heat to the drier.
Mayor Jack Delbridge of Exeter pushes the
button to start the new drier. Mr. Delbridge,
a prominent farmer as well as Exeter's Num-
ber One citizen, delivered his corn to Cann's
Elevator. Mr. Oscar Greb, R.R. #3, Zurich,
was also on hand to assist. He delivered the
first corn that went through the new drier.
The trend to
Liquid Fertilizer
CANN'S MILL LIMITED have been the first to pioneer and pro-
mote the use of Liquid Fertilizers in Huron County. They dis-
tribute both Shur-Gain and Gro-Gold brands. This past season
saw 12 freight cars of 41% Ammonium Nitrate Liquid unloaded
and applied to the corn crops in this area. 1965 saw the greatest
number of farmers to date using the services and advantages
that Liquid Fertilizers offer.
MILL LTD. Exeter Whalen Corners
Twenty-five years ago, the village of Exeter had a population of about 1700.
Now it has become a town with a population of 3150. To meet the demands of this popu-
lation increase, we have seen two new schools and four additions to those schools. A hos-
pital and nursing residence, four or five new churches. Many new homes have been built.
A sewage system has been installed. New industries and businesses have started as op-
portinities arose. Needless to say, we are proud to be a part of Exeter, but we are just
as proud to be a part of the farming and agricultural industry of this area. Good farming
practices, new methods and new knowledge in harmony with the many changes of agri-
culture has made our farmers the envy of many areas.
In keeping with this change, we have attempted to stay abreast with the re-
quirements of the farm trade. The addition to our grain elevator and installation of a
large drier will now give storage space and drying service to take care of the huge corn
crop grown here. The installation of our Liquid Fertilizer Station offers to the farmer the
latest information and trend in plant feeding, Our liquid fertilizer planters, spreaders and
liquid nitrogen applicators brings this knowledge and service right to the farmer's field. We
have a right to be proud of our farms and farmers.
In celebrating our 25th Anniversary, we are offering many specials at cost
or less than cost, for one reason only. This is to express our thanks to all farmers of our
area for the opportunity of serving them. We hope therefore that you will pay us a visit
at this time. We also hope that we may continue to serve you in the future for• many years.
Besides being in business in Exeter for 25 years, both Carfrey and Art celebrate
their 25th Wedding Anniversary in November and December respectively. Mr. G. A, Cann
celebrated his 53rd Wedding Anniversary in June of this year.
