of annual bazaar and tea
Wedding vows were exchanged
by Lynda Jean Evans and Robert
William Smale, London, at a
ceremony in Fairmount United
Church, London, Saturday No-
vember 13. Rev. Gordon Burgess
of London officiated.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Murray Evans,
London, and the groom is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. William Smale,
Hensall.
The bride chose an aqua poc-
quswa street-length dress and
carried a sheaf of pink carna-
tions.
Miss Carol Evans, London,
Mrs. Wm. Mickle was hostess
at her home last Wednesday eve-
ning for the meeting of Hensall
Kinette Club with a 100% atten-
dance. President Mrs. Wm. Fuss
presided. A donation was ap-
proved to the Salvation Army.
The group were informed that
the two Christmas cakes, which
will be drawn for early in De-
cember, are on display at Tay-
lor's Ready to Wear . The raffle
brought by Mrs. Bob Baker was
won by Mrs. Wm. Clement. Fol-

a patient at Victoria Hospital.

The wedding dinner was serv-
ed at the home of Mrs. Frank
Cousins, London.
For travelling the bride wore
a two piece blue double knit dress
with accessories in black. For the
honeymoon they went to Niagara
Falls, Buffalo and Cleveland and
other points south.
Upon their return they will re-
phant and bake sale was held
amongst the members.
Next meeting Dec. 8 will be
held at the home of Mrs. Ron
Wareing.
Sunday November 28 members
of the club visited 48 sick and
shut-ins in Hensall, patients at
Queensway Nursing Home, Hen-
sall, Huronview, Victoria Hos-
pital, London, and Clinton Public
Hospital, presenting them with
fancy boxes of cookies. This is
an annual project of the club.
Messrs. Cecil and Grafton
Squire, Wm. Morley, Eric At-
wood, Gordon Johnson and John
Finkbeiner attended the Men's
Club banquet Friday evening at
Centralia United Church. Fol-
lowing the banquet Dr. H. H.
Cowen, Exeter, showed his pic-
tures of the Holy Land.
Mr. & Mrs. Ken Hodgson and
family, Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Hern
and family, Zion, were Saturday
night guests of Mr. & Mrs. Wm.
Morley.

Wins awards
for stamps
Mr. Charles Mickle, a High
School teacher of history and
geography at the Westdale Secon-
dary School in Hamilton won a
gold certificate and the presi-
dent's cup for his outstanding ex-
hibit at the stamp exhibition held
there recently.
He is a member of this club
and also a member of the Royal
Philatelic Society of Canada.
A history of his exhibit was
published recently in the stamp
column of the Globe and Mail,
Toronto, and in the Hamilton
Spectator and was also described
by Lamont Tilden and Doug Pat-
rick over radio CDC. Charles is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Mickle of Hensall.
Kippen WI
family night
Friday, Nov. 27 Kippen East
Women's Institute held their an-
nual family night when they enter-
tained their husbands and fam-
ilies to a turkey banquet in the
Hensall Arena. Following the
supper the children went skating.
A short program consisting of
musical selections by Mrs. Ross
Broadfoot, an accordion solo by
Mrs. Lloyd Cooper, solo by Bon-
nie Cooper accompanied by her
mother, Mrs. Lloyd Cooper, a
piano duet by Diane and Darlene
McKay was given chaired by
Mrs. Arthur Finlayson.
Progressive euchre was en-
joyed. Prize winners for ladies
were Mrs. June Cooper, Mrs.
Robert Bell, Mrs. Doug McGreg-
or; gents, Lloyd Cooper.

urday afternoon.

Twenty five members of the
Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary,
assisted by members of Hensall
Legion Branch 468 canvassed
the village and district Tuesday
night November 23 in a monster
potato chip drive and sold 240
large packages. Mrs. Howard
Smale spearheaded the drive,
proceeds from which will be
used for service work.
Wind damage
Winds travelling at 50 miles
an hour Friday night levelled a
driving shed filled with imple-
ments and took the steel roof
off a large L-shaped barn hous-
ing twenty five cows and this
season's crop on the farm of
John Jacobs RR 1 Zurich, five
miles west of Hensall in Hay
Township,
Mr. Jacobs estimated the dam-
ages at over $2,000.
opening was made by Rev. Harold
F. Currie. Gaily decorated tea
tables were presided over byUnit
4 in the Assembly Hall; also lo-
cated in the tea room was a
colored display of driftwood and
Christmas novelties on sale by
Mrs. Robert Reaburn and mem-
bers of Unit 1.
Mrs. Ron Mock and Unit 3
presided at the artistic booth
selling aprons, fancy work and
knitted wear. Tempting baked
goods were presided over by
Mrs. Edison Forrest and unit 2.
Mrs. T. Sherritt and Mrs. Fred
Mrs. Stewart McQueen, assis-
ted by Mrs. Harry Snell, was
hostess at her home Saturday
evening for a miscellaneous
shower in honor of her grand-
daughter, Mrs. Terry North (the
former Ruth Anne Traquair) of
St. Thomas. Miss Joan Elliott
of Zurich gave two readings and
Mr. Danny Laing of Exeter sang
a solo.
Gifts were presented in a dec-
orated wagon by Stewart and Jane
Knights of Blenheim. The bride
was assisted in opening her gifts
by Miss Cathy Scane of London
and Miss Patsy Moir of Atwood.
Ruth Anne thanked everyone for
the many beautiful and useful
gifts. Mrs. Bill Knights of Blen-
heim conducted two contests and
lunch was served.
Relatives and friends attended
Beer did a brisk business at the
"Sweets Shop".
A Hi-C booth sold church cal-
endars. Sales ladies were Misses
Ann Mickle and Lois Simmons.
A number of quilts made by unit
4 were on display as well as an
amazing collection of t'Attic
Treasures" supervised by Mrs,
James McAllister, leader of unit

Mrs. Robert Reaburn, Mrs. Ro-
bert Drysdale and Mrs. Rodger

Canvas for
Bible society
In a recent canvass of Hensall
village the United Church was
represented by the following la-
dies: Mrs. Sim Roobol, Mrs.
Pearl Passmore, Mrs. Wilmer
Ferguson, Mrs. Gordon Love,
Mrs. Jarvis Horton, Mrs. Leona
Parke, Mrs. Albert Alexander
and Mrs. R. McAllister. The sum
of $151.25 was realized.
Mr. V. M. Pyette, manager
of the Bank of Montreal, and
treasurer for the Canadian Bible
Mrs. C. L. Jinks has returned
from a visit spent with Mr. &
Mrs. Ross Jinks and family,
London.
Mr. & Mrs. John Cochrane
of Iierisall quietly celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary
at their home Wednesday, No-
vember 24 when relatives, neigh-
bors and friends called on them
to offer congratulations and pre-
sent them with gifts, cards and
flowers.
The Christmas meeting of Hen-
sail Women's Institute will be
held in the Legion Hall Wednes-
day, December 8 at 8:15 pm with
a special Christmas program
being arranged.
Mrs. Edna Corbett spent the
weekend with her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Archie
MacGregor.
Mrs. Pearl Shaddick of Bay-
field spent the weekend at her
home here, and visited with her
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. &

Patsy were recent visitors with
their son-in-law and daughter,

Mr. William Tinney has ac-
cepted employment at Scholl's
Food Market Ltd. and commenced
working last week.
Mr. John Passmore has re-
turned to South Huron Hospital,
Society here, announced that
$151.25 had been collected in a
canvas of Hensall sponsored by
the three local churches.

ing in St. Joseph's Hospital, Lon-
don, from, injuries sustained in
a fall recently.

Klungel, appreciated the kindness
of the Kinette Club of Hensall
when two members of the club
Mrs. Bob Caldwell, and Mrs.
Bob Baker Jr. called Sunday
and presented the 19 patients
with boxes of cookies and baskets
of fruit, the latter for diabetic
patients.
Elaine Love, six-year-old
daughter of M. & MrS. Jim Love
of the Parr Line, who has been
a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, for two weeks, is re-
covering nicely.

family of Chicago, Mr. & Mrs.
Peter Heuvel, Hamilton, were
weekend guests with Mr. & Mrs.
Harry K lung el, at Queensway
Nursing Home, celebrating the
birthday of Mrs. Klungel, a sis-
ter of Chris and peter Heuvel.
Ward Forrest is a patient in
St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
having been there for a number
of weeks.
