Plan Dashwood home Helen Irene Ballantyne became the bride of Eric Rodger Kints in a double ring ceremony in St. Peter's Bascilica, London, on Saturday, November 13. Rev. T. J. Lever officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ballantyne, London, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfons Kints, RR 1 Centralia. The bride chose a floor-length gown of silk organza, featuring a classic bell skirt with Swiss embroidered motifs, a fitted waist topped with matching lace bodice and lily point sleeves. A panel chapel train cascaded from the back. A crown of pearls held her four-tiered bouff ant skirt. She carried a bouquet, of red roses and white mums. Miss Irene Park, Kirkton, was matron of honor and Miss Fran- ces Skinner, RR 1 Centralia and Mrs. Monique Vankruwane, sist- er of the groom, Centralia, were Messrs. Huel Rannie and David Mackie of Weyburn, Sask. called on the former's aunt Mrs. A. Rose recently on their way home from Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Turnbull attended the T ur n b u 11-Whiting wedding Saturday and visited with Mr. and Mrs. David Millar and other relatives. Mr. Turnbull, a Exeter High School graduate, has retired from the teaching pro- fession in Toronto and with his wife is leaving shortly for a trip around the world. Messrs. Jerry Buhr of Her- bert, Sask. and Robert Schroeder, London, spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Schroeder. Mrs. Lorne Johnston, who has been a patient in Toronto General Hospital for the past two weeks, will undergo surgery this week. Mr. & Mrs. Robert Coates and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kerslake attended the Royal Winter Fair Saturday and also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Argue of Long Branch. Rev. and Mrs. Richard Van Farowe of Leamington called on Mrs. Bessie Taylor, Nelson St., Friday. Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Palmer attended the Wiar ton District High School commencement ex- ercises last week at which Mr. Palmer presented one of the awards. Mrs. Lyle Little entertained bridesmaids. They were gowned alike in street-length dresses of peacock blue chiffon and peau de sole, Bodices were styled in the empire mood, with matching wedding band headpieces of chif- fon and carried cascades of white carnations. Mike Kints, brother of the groom was best man and Frank Kints and G e r al d Ballantyne, brother of the bride, were ushers. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Ballantyne chose a dress of blue and black matalasse sheath with matching jacket and a cor- sage of white mums edged in pink. The groom's mother chose a light blue sheath with a braided jacket and wore a corsage of white mumS. For travelling, the bride changed to a poppy red wool suit with black accessories and a white rose corsage. The couple will reside near Exeter. at a coffee party for the wives of SHDHS staff members this week. Speech theme at Sorority At the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority meeting Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. William Schaeffer, Kirkton, the theme of the pro- gram was speech given by Mrs. Joe Wooden and Mrs. Ross Burns. Mrs. Wooden discussed the history of speech and Mrs. Burns gave hints on speaking in public. Mrs. J. Witteveen and Mrs. Norman Amos assisted the host- ess with lunch. Area delegates plan activities Mrs. M. C. Fletcher, Exeter, Mrs. Walter Spencer, Hensall, and Mr. Carl Oestricher, Dash- wood, with other area represen- tatives of Huron County attended a meeting last Wednesday at the Ontario Hospital, Goderich, to better plan volunteer work for the hospital and to co-ordinate the activities of the many groups who are contributing to the pleasures of the patients at the hospital. Miss Kathleen Judy Doerr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Doerr, RR 1, Dublin, became the bride of Gerald Douglas Cooper, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cooper, Exeter, in a cere- mony in James Street United Church, Exeter, at 3 o'clock November 6 with Rev. S. E. Lewis officiating. Baskets of white and blue mums, candelabra and fern s formed the setting for the occa- sion and Mr. Lawrence Wein played the wedding music and accompanied the soloist, Mrs. James Horan, Mitchell, who sang Wedding Prayer and 0 Perfect Love. Given in marriage by her father the bride chose a floor- length gown in angel smooth peau de sole styled with a softly flow- ing skirt, new high rise waistline accented with re-embroidered Alencon lace appliqued in a lily of the valley design. A peacock detachable chapel train also trimmed with lace appliques cas- caded from the waist at the back. A tiara of lace and pearls held her bouffant veil of silk net illusion. She carried a cas- cade of 26 red roses, lily of the valley and ivy. MRS. H. H. G. STRANG OES Worthy Matron Mrs. Harry Strang was install- ed as Worthy Matron of the Exeter Chapter No. 222 Order of the Eastern Star last Wed- nesday evening with Mr. Harry Strang as Worthy Patron. The installing Board included: Installing matron, Mrs. William J. F. Bell; installing patron, Mr. Stanley Love; installing chaplain, Mrs. Andrew Crozier, Seaforth; PDDGM, installing mar shall, Mrs. Wellington Brock PM; in- stalling organist, Mrs. Clare Mc- Bride; installing warden, Mrs. C. E. Zurbrigg; installing sen- tinel, Mr. Wellington Brock; Miss Kaye Charters, Seaforth, as maid of honor wore a powder blue long sheath skirt with navy velvet top. She carried white and blue mums with sprigs of wheat. Miss Lois Beuermann, RR 1 Dublin, and Miss Julene Elliott, Seaforth, were gowned similarly to the maid of honor. Flower girl, Heather McPherson, Sea- forth, niece of the bride, was gowned similarly to the other attendants and carried her flow- ers in a basket. David Cooper, brother of the groom, was ring- bearer wearing a black tuxedo. Don Cooper, Brampton, broth- er of the groom, was best man and James Scott, Exeter, and Bob Doerr, Seaforth, ushered guests. A reception was held in the church rooms where the bride's mother received guests in a pea- cock blue sheath with lace bodice, black accessories and gardenia corsage. The groom's mother chose black crepe sheath with lace sleeves, black accessories and gardenia corsage. For travelling the bride wore a hunter green wool dress with jacket, matching accessories and a gardenia corsage. The couple will reside in Dash- wood. soloist, Mrs. William Cann. They were assisted by past matrons and patrons of the Exeter Chap- ter, Mrs. Jack Dickins, Mrs. William D. Sanders, Mrs. Fred Dobbs, Mrs. William J. Smith, Mrs. W. E. Mark anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Dearing entertained at a dinner at the Dufferin Hotel, Centralia, Wed- nesday evening, November 17, in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Preston Dearing's 45th wedding anniver- sary. Later the guests returned to the home of the former for a social evening. CGIT meeting James Street CGIT folded Christmas T-B seals ready for mailing at the meeting last Wed- nesday evening. A film "Drinking is Dynamite" demonstrating that t e e n-a g e drinking is dangerous was shown with Rick Schroeder as operator. The bride chose for her wed- ding a waltz-length gown of nylon organza over bridal satin, styled with fitted bodice, lily point sleeves, sabrina neckline, bouf- fant skirt with bustle effect caught with self roses and appliques of lace re-embroidered with seed pearls. A tiny crown of seed pearls held her shoulder-length veil of silk illusion. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations. Mrs. Harold Beck, RR 1 Zur- ich, was matron of honor for her sister wearing a sheath gown of aqua chiffon with matching head- piece and she carried yellow mum s. John Melzer, London, was best man and William Yule and Willis Walper, brother of the bride, ushered. A reception was held in the church rooms where the bride's mother received guests in a wool crepe dress of dark brown with black accessories and the groom's mother chose a two- piece dress of French lace in peacock blue. For travelling in Southern On- tario and United States the bride changed to a raspberry two-piece wool suit with black accessories and corsage of white carnations.
