Young People met Monday, No-
vember 8 with Wendy Neil and
Sharon Hodge in charge of the

Will vote on
liquor lounges
Questions concerning the sale
of beer to men in beverage rooms
and licenced liquor lounges will
appear on the Dec. 6 Stephen
Township election ballot.
Township councillors decided
Tuesday night to have both ques-
tions placed on the municipal
ballot.
The township has had licenced
dining rooms since 1960.
Councillors delayed, for fur-
ther discussion, decision on a
request for support of a $550,-
000 debenture issue for South
Huron District High School board.
It was laid over until the next
meeting. The money is needed
for an addition to the school at
Exeter.
Mrs. Ed. Stewardson, Mr. &
Mrs. Verne Ridley and Mr. &
Mrs. Langford Ridley visited
Sunday with relatives at Burling-
ton and Hamilton.
The Herean Bible Class of the
United Church will hold their
meeting Friday evening at the

Mrs. Don Kyle of Hensall and
Mrs. Wilmer McClinchey of Var-
na served and great granddaugh-
ter Miss Deborah Kyle was in
charge of the guest book.
The honored guest was the
recipient of a host of good wishes
by cards, telegram, telephone
and a framed scroll.
Guests were present from Tor-
onto, Port Dover, Stratford, Lon-
don, Glencoe, Exeter, Hensall,
Zurich, Seaforth, Walton, Clin-
ton, Blyth, Hayfield, Brucefield
and Varna.
Mrs. Kyle is the former Jean
Isabel Mitchell, daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R.
Mitchell and was born at West-
field, East W a wano s h. From
there the family moved to Auburn
and later to Clinton where she
was married in 1900 to the late
Thomas Kyle of Milton, North
Dakota, formerly of Kippen.
Shortly thereafter they moved
from Milton to Saskatchewan and
in 1907 returned to the east to
take up farming at Kippen.
Following the death of her
husband in 1927 she moved to
Clinton where she has since re-
sided. Mrs. Kyle still enjoys
the blessing of all her faculties
and maintains an acute interest
in current events, and always
an ardent lover of flowers.

The Whalen UCW met Wednes-
day afternoon at Mrs. Chas, Mc-
Roberts' with ten members an-
swering the roll call. The hos-
tesses were Mrs. McLeod Mills
and Mrs. McRoberts, The theme
of „meeting was "Need for Faith".
Mrs. Eric Atwood was in
charge of the worship service
assisted by Mrs. Wm. French,
Mrs. Finkbeiner favored with a
reading,
Mrs. Duffield presided for the
business part of meeting. An
invitation was extended to Whalen
ladies to attend the Christmas
bazaar at Centralia church in
December. Members are asked
to bring toys and donation of
fruit for the Thomas Allway
Home,London, and old shoes
for th Rescue Mission, London.
It was decided to have meetings
in the homes for the winter
months. The Christmas meeting
will be at Mrs. Gordon Johnson's
home with an exchange of gifts.

She is a member of Ontario
Street United Church, a member
of the Eastern Star, joining 66
years ago in Milton, North Da-
kota, a member of the Rebekah
lodge, and an honorary member
of the Kippen WMS for many
years.
Mrs. Kyle has two sons Wil-
liam and Emerson both of Kippen,
six grandchildren and seven great
grandchildren.
Hodgins attended graduation ex-
ercises for Wells Academy, Lon-
don, at the Holiday Inn Friday
evening.
Mr. & Mrs. 0, E. Webb, Gran-
ton, were Sunday guests of Mr.
& Mrs. Laverne Morley, the
occasion being the Webb's 58th
wedding anniversary.

The WSWS of the EUB church
met Tuesday evening with Mrs.
E. Fahrner at the piano and Mrs.
Allen Finkbeiner leading the
meeting.
A play ''Neighbors" was well
given by Mrs. Finkbeiner, Mrs.
Lloyd Lamport, Mrs. Roy Ratz,
Mrs. G. E. Wenzel and Mrs. Alvin
Finkbeiner. A vocal duet was
given by Karen Finkbeiner and
• Margaret Haist.
The president Mrs. ErvinRatz
conducted the business. A letter
was read from Jean Kellerman
of Tokyo, Japan. A donation of $10
is to be given to the CNIB. Monies
were voted to both the current
and mission treasuries of the
church. It was decided to have
a bakeless bake sale to which the
ladies of the congregation will be
asked to contribute.
A congregational pot luck sup-
per is planned for Nov. 26 when
the budget of the church will be
presented.
The WSWS will hold their next
