The Deputy Commander (de- signate) of the new integrated Training Command Headquarters at Winnipeg, Man., Brig. Anthony J. 13. Bailey DSO, ORE, ED, CD, paid an informal visit to RCAF Station Centralia Wednesday 3rd November. Brig Bailey is in the Southern Ontario area. to receive indoctrination briefing and gee the training facilities that wilibe part of the new training structure. He departed Thursday morning for Camp Borden. Brig. Bailey was born inCom- ox, 13.0, in April, 1914. He serv- ed in the Royal Canadian Artillery (NPAM), before the war and was Mobilized for wartime service with the 02nd Field Battery on September 1, 1939. He went overseas in July, 1941, and in November of the same year returned to Canada to at-. tend the Canadian Junior War Staff Course at Kingston, Ont. In May, 1942, he returned to the HALLOWE'EN PARTY Last Monday evening the Young People of the United Church held a Hallowe'en party with everyone coming in costume. Prizes for the best dressed boy went to Wayne King; best dressed girl, Sharon Hodge. Elaine Whitney was the prize winner for the most original costume. Everyone enjoyed play- ing spin the apple and bobbing for apples. The next meeting will be held November 8. MARK HALLOWE'EN The United Church Messeng- ers met after school last Thurs- day. Sixteen members answered the roll call. The business was conducted by Heather Whitney. The worship was directed by Burton Moon and Heather Whit ney. Mrs. Douglas Galloway told a story followed by an action song. The Bible study on the Books of Law was led by Rev. R. Hiltz. A Hallowe'en party followed and everyone enjoyed bobbing for apples and. the popcorn balls served. CRUSADERS QUARTET AT CREDITON The 10:00 am and 7:30 pm services Sunday at Zion Church, Evangelical United Brethren, Crediton, featured The Crusa- ders Quartet, one of the best known Gospel quartets in Ontario. Later he Served as Brigade Major, 1st Canadian Army Group, Royal Ar- tillery, in Italy. On his appointment to command 3rd Field Regiment, RCA in De- cember, 1944 he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant-colonel, In this appointment he served in Italy and Northwest Europe. After his return to Canada he se r ved first at eleedwarters Prairie Command until his ap- pointment to Army Headquarters as GS0 I in the Directorate of Military Training, In 1948 he bee came a member of the Directing Staff at the Canadian Army Staff College, Kingston, Ontario, ie. After serving for a year in Korea with this unit, lie was promoted to the rank of colonel and appointed to command the Royal Canadian School of Artil- lery at Camp Shilo, Man., in December, 1951, In. August, 1954, he was ap- pointed Director of Artillery at Army Headquarters. He vacated this appointment in July 195'7.
