Carrying a WITCH'S
BREW of prizes for you
Margaret (Peggy) McLaugh-
lin, daughter of Mrs. McLaugh-
lin and the late Will McLaugh-
lin, formerly of RR3 Lucan, and
Marc Leonard Boulianne, son of
Mr. G. P. Boulianne and the late
Mrs. Boulianne, all of London,
exchanged marriage vows in St.
Michael's Catholic Church, Lon-
don, before Rev. McColl on Sat-
urday October 9 at 11 am.
Organist of the church, Mrs.
Pierce played the wedding music
and accompanied the soloist ,
Miss Ruth Morkin, Lucan.
Given in marriage by her bro-
ther William McLaughlin, the
bride wore a gown of peau de
faille featuring an A-line skirt
with a bias band waist trimmed
with Chantilly lace as -was the
scoop neckline and three-quar-
ter sleeves. A full detachable
train cascaded from the waist,

Local man
in accident
Another local man is a patient
in St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
suffering shock and broken ribs
as the result of a car accident.
Mr. Clinton Hackett, Concess-
ion 13, London Township, last
Tuesday drove up to Birr store
for supplies. He was hit by a
car going towards London con-
taining the driver and a pass-
enger, one of whom is also a
patient in St. Joseph's.
Both cars were badly damaged.
Mr. Haskett is making satis-
factory recovery.

matching headpieces in petal de-
sign and carried pink, carnations.
Groomsmen were Ken Hay and
Allen Kalinowski and ushers were
Tom McLaughlin, brother of the
bride, and Frank Gregory.
A reception was held at the
Seven Dwarfs Inn. For the honey-
moon spent in Montreal and Kap-
uskasing the bride changed to a
two-piece gold knit suit with
black accessories and corsage
of white carnations.
The couple will reside in Lon-
don.
SHOWER BRIDE
The bride was feted at several
pre-nuptial events.
Hostesses for showers were
Bonnie Glendinning at the Latin
Quarters; Miss Marg Medd and
Mrs. Dianne Molloy at the latter's
home; Daphne Anderson at her
home; Miss Loretto Blake at
St. Patrick's School, Lucan and
Mr, and Mrs. Peter Paquette at
their home.
Mrs. W. McLaughlin entertain-
ed at a tea honoring her daughter
where wedding and shower gifts
were displayed.
Support UNICEF
Once again the pupils of the
Lucan Public School will be col-
lecting for UNICEF (United Na-
tions International Children's
Emergency Fund). In the past
their help has been greatly ap-
preciated by the staff and at
headquarters.
The collection this year will
be held October 23 instead of
Area shower
Mrs. Arnold Morley of Lucan
and Mrs. Laverne Allison of
Parkhill were joint hostess for
a miscellaneous shower held Fri-
day evening, at the home of the
former. The guest of honor was
Miss Carole Thorup, whose mar-
riage will take place Oct. 30.
During the evening four con-
tests were held with one h a v ing
three winner s, Mrs. Michael
ThOruP, Mrs. Carl Rummell, and
Mrs. Cecil Armitage. Winners of
the other three were Mrs. Carl
Rummell, Miss Carole Thorup
and Mrs. Ken Thor.
Arena news

As Lucan's new arena mana-
ger, I have already met the heads
of some of the various organiza-
tions, but would like to meet you
all, so drop in and let us get
acquainted.
Like my predecessors, I hope
to keep you posted on arena ac-
t i v it i e s, through the Exeter
Times Advocate.
The ice markings for hockey
are now completed, and with a
little co-operation from the wea-
therman, we should have a suf-
ficient coverage to allow the
local teams to start their sea-
son.
All 4 teams in the Shamrock
League have held their first prac-
tice and any boy who is interested
in playing hockey should contact
the Lucan Legion.
The Canadian Play-boys are
enjoying very successful turn-
outs at their regular Saturday
night dances in the Arena Hall.
The WI members held their
first Euchre last Wednesday and
will be holding more.
The CWL of St. Patrick's
Church sponsored a big bazaar
and tea Friday night.
There are still some hours
available for practice and I would
appreciate your booking these as
soon as possible.
October 30 for a two-fold rea-
son. First there will be less
chance of being molested and
secondly It will give the col-
lectors a chance to enjoy Hal-
lowe'en. Money collected will be
handed in to the teachers Mon-
day, October 25.

turned after a, IMO'S visit with
their daughter Mrs. Don Martin
and family of Jasper.
Among those who attended a
meeting of the Middlesex muni-
cipal clerks and treasurers last
Wednesday at tile municipalbull-
ding, London, was Mrs, M. L.
Gibson, Lucan treasurer. New
methods of assessing were dis-
cussed.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Schell
and family moved to Stratford
last Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hardy
and Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Haskett
attended the three-day Pigeon
C onventi on at Queen's Hotel,
Montreal, Oct 1-3. Presentation
of trophies, banquets, dances and
a tour of the city were the high-
lights of the outing.
Former agent
dies at Brantford
Mr. Roy Patten, 78, a retired
CNR station agent of St. George,
died, Wednesday Oct. 1.3, in the
Brantford General Hospital. Mrs.
Patten predeceased him Novem-
ber 1964,
Mr. Patten was station agent
in Lucan some years ago and
lived on Alice and Lucan streets.
Service was held Friday, Oct.
15 at the Tasker funeral home,
Blyth, with interment in Wing-
ham cemetery.
Mr. Robert Murray, his moth-
er, Mrs. J. R. Murray and Mrs.
H. B. Langford, from Lucan,
were among those who attended
the funeral.

The Catholic Women's League
of St. Patrick's Church, Lucan,
staged its annual autumn fair,
bazaar, and tea in the Lucan
Community Centre Friday even-
ing.

Thirty-three neighbors, rela-
tives and friends of the groom-
elect, Mr. Allan Ryan, met at the
home of Mrs. George Hodgins
Friday evening to honor him and
the bride-elect, Miss Lynn Gra-
ham of Komoka.
During the evening the couple,
whose marriage will take place,
Saturday, October 23, was pre-
sented with a pole lamp, hostess
chair and hassock, Mrs. Rosa
McRoberts reading the address,
and Mrs. Joe O'Neil and Mrs.
George Hodgins making the pre-
sentation. Winners of three con-
tests were Mrs. Harvey Hodgins,
Mrs. Wilson Hodgins and the
bride-elect.
Mrs. Clarence young, Lucan;
$10, Tom O'Shea, Granton. The
door prize of $5 was won by
Mrs. Van Eyke, Lucan.
Dinner for two at Holiday Inn
went to Mrs. Clarence Young,
Lucan; money tree, Mrs. Mary

Loyens, Denfield.
