The Staffa Senior citizens club
entertained the members of the
Women's, Institute at the October
meeting. The president Mr. T.
Laing presided, Mrs. Bowman
read a short article on the splen-
dors of bctober.
The program consisted of an
instrumental by Mrs. R. M c-
Caughey, step dancing by Mrs,
Bruce Armstrong and Mrs, Garry
Quance accompanied by Nelson
Howe on violin and Mrs. Fred
Johns at the piano, solos by Mar-
garet Worden and a reading by
Mrs. Gerald Carey. Mr. and
Mrs. Mervin Dow showed slides
of their recent trip to England.

Mr. Wilber Miller moved a
vote of thanks to those taking part
and Mrs. Carter Kerslake ex-
pressed appreciation of the In-
stitute members.
The next meeting of the club
will be held November 9 at 2:30
pm with Mrs. R. Dodds and Miss
Olive Speare as lunch conveners
and Mrs, J. R. Jefferson and.
Mrs. K. McKellar on program
committee.

Miss Laura Minetta Chappel,
daugher of Mr. arid Mrs. Wilmer
Chappel, Cromarty, became the
bride of Donald Harold carter,
RR 6 St. Marys, in Staffa United
Church with Rev. A. H. Daynard
officiating.
Given in marriage by her fath-
er the bride wore white tradi-
tional satin with a chapel train
falling from the shoulders. A
pearl headdress held her finger-
tip veil and she carried red roses
and stephanotis.
Miss Shirley Gardiner, Cro-
rnarty, was maid of honor wear-
ing gold satapeau in ballerina-
length with train falling from a
bow at the back. She carried
gold and bronze baby mum s.
Misses Barbara Gardiner and
Ann Fischer, Guelph, were
bridesmaids gowned similarly to
the maid of honor.
Kenneth Bearss, St. Marys,
was best man and David Chappel,
brother of the bride, and George
Baker, cousin of the groom, were
ushers.
The reception was held in the
church rooms where the bride's
mother received guests in a. pine green lace dress with rose ac-
cessories and the groom's moth-
er chose blue wool with white
accessories.
For travelling to NorthernOn-
tario the bride changed to a navy
suit with pink accessories.
The couple will reside at RR 6
St. Marys.

CELEBRATES 80th BIRTHDAY
Mrs. Wm. Lovie was pleas-
antly surprised on her 80th birth-
day when her family, grandchild-
ren, great-grandchildren, sist-
ers and brothers, numbering 31
gathered at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Lovie in London.
Mrs. Lovie has three of afamily,
Lillian (Mrs. Orval Mellin) with
whom she makes her home, Clay-
ton and Gordon both of London.
