The Exeter Times-Advocate, 1965-10-07, Page 17Mr. and Mrs. E. R. F. Neil
of Vista, California, celebrated
their golden wedding anniversary
Saturday by holding open house
at the summer home of their
son-in-law and daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. Howard Morley at
Southcott Pines, Grand Bend, fol-
lowed by a family dinner for
80 guests at the Green Forest
Motor Hotel.
Over 200 relatives and friends
called Saturday afternoon on the
bride and groom of 50 years ago
who were assisted in receiving
by their two daughters, Mrs.
Howard (Gwendolyn) Morley and
Mrs. Clarence (Muriel) Lynch,
of Rochester, Mich. Granddaugh-
ters, Kathleen Morley and Mar-
ilyn Lynch, were in charge of the
guest book. The Whalen UCW
catered for the occasion.
The bride and groom's table
at the banquet was centred with
the traditional three-tier wedding
cake and gold candles in two
bouquets of 100 yellow roses.
Gold gladioli and bronze mums
also decorated the room.
Mr. Howard Morley was mas-
ter of ceremonies and Alton A.
Neil, brother, proposed the toast,
to which both celebrants respond-
ed. Rev. and Mrs. William Bach
of First Baptist Church, Hazel
Park, were present and the for-
mer was guest speaker; also
speaking briefly were Mr. John
Ogden of Emmett, Mich, brother
of Mrs. Neil, Mrs. Murray Sher-
man of Hazel Park and Miss
Lina Abbott of Lucan, a cousin
of Mr. Neil's, who reminisced
on their early days.
Mrs. Neil chose for the occa-
sion a floor-length gown in gold,
a Hollywood creation by Audora.
With it she wore matching gold
accessories and a white Catteya
orchid corsage.
It was on just such a rovely
day 50 years ago that Roy Neil
near Lucan, and Vera Lorraine
Ogden were married at the home
of the bride's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. William Ogden, Whalen,
for the wedding guests were
served from a marquee on the
lawn. ,
