The WA and Guild of St. James
Church was held at the home of
Mrs. Emily Tomes. The presi-
dent of the WA presided and
was assisted in the devotions
by Rev. E, 0. Lancaster. Ten
members and two visitors were
present.
Clothing for a bale to be sent
to the missions where Rev.Stan-
ley Tomes has charge was handed
in.
An announcement was made of
the mission rally to be held in
the Glencoe District High School
on. the evening of October 20.
Rev. Lancaster reported on the
Fall Deanery held in Glencoe
September 29.
Mrs. Robert Latta presided
for the Guild meeting and plans
for the annual bazaar to be held
Saturday, November 6 in the
church school room and for other
fall work. The hostess was as-
sisted in serving lunch by Mrs.
Karl O'Neil.
WITH THE CHURCHES
At the United Church Sunday
Rev. G. W. Sach took the service
and was assisted in the obser-
vance of world wide communion
by Messrs. Rae Neil, Wilmer

WSWS RALLY
Thursday, September 30, the
District Fall Rally of WSWS was
held in the Crediton EUB church.
The theme for the rally was
"Jesus Christ. Renews His
Church Through Evangelistic
Witness and Missionary Out-
reach.'
The afternoon session opened
with the worship being conducted
by the ladies of the Zurich WSWS.
The missionary address was giv-
en by Rev. C. Silvernall of Brazil
and was followed by a question
period. The afternoon offering
went to the Missionary Support
Fund and was to be sent to Miss
Jean Kellerman. The Rodney
WSWS conducted aprayer period.
In the evening Mrs. N. Hauls-
child and Mrs. M. Hux, represen-
tatives to the World Institute
presented their reports on these
meetings. The message in the
evening took the form of pictures
of Rev. C. Silvernails work. The
evening offering was to be used
for Mission Work in Brazil.
Special music was presented
by the Crediton choir and the
closing worship taken by mem-
bers of the Crediton Youth Fel-
lowship.
CHANGE DATE OF WIIVIEETING
Mrs. Lorne Hodge, president
of the Crediton WI, announced
that those in the local community
would again be able to leave their
donations for the South Huron
Hospital rummage sale at the
Community Centre during the
afternoon or evening of Oct. 14.
She also announced that their
next meeting would be held Octo-
ber 18 as they had been invited
to join the Kippen WI Oct. 20.
RESUME MEETINGS
The Crediton Young People
held their first meeting Monday,
Sept. 27 and continued with their
vocational theme. They enjoyed
a film on c Modern Trends in
Farming" followed by a dis-
cussion period.
The worship service was con-
ducted by president Jim Neil
assisted by Brian Lamport. A
social half hour followed.
The next meeting will be Oct.
11 at which they will hold their
election of officers for the new
year.
BRIDE-ELECT FETED
Mrs. Lawrence Hill and Mrs.
Allen Pfaff held a shower for
Miss Janice Jewitt at the for-
mer's home last Monday eve-
ning. Janice was escorted to a
decorated chair after which a
mock wedding was acted out.
Those participating were: min-
ister, Mrs. Mervin Webb; bride's
father, Shirley Pfaff; bride's
mother, Mrs. Emery Waif; bride,
Margaret Jennison; groom, Glen-
da Pfaff; bridesmaid, Cynthia
Pfaff; best man, Darlene Webb;
flower girl, Nancy Ann Presz-
cator. Two contests were en-
joyed and also a reading by Mrs.
Ted Wright after which Shirley
Pf aff read the address. Misses
Diane Preszcator and E 1 aine
Pfaff presented a basket well
laden with gifts. Janice thanked
everyone and invited them all
to her trousseau tea the follow-
ing evening. Lunch was served
by the hostesses.
PERSONALS
A number of the ladies of
the Crediton UCW attended the
Thanksgiving meeting of the Exe-
ter Main St. UCW and enjoyed
the pictures shown by Dr. Mc-
Master of Grand Bend on his
trip to Brazil.
Mrs. Joseph Finkbeiner under-
went surgery Saturday at Vic-
toria Hospital, London.
Mrs. Lloyd Gaiser is a patient
at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Mrs. Mary Faist left Satur-
day to make her home for the
winter months with Mrs. Cecil
Rowe at Exeter.
Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Hill,
Mr. Wm. Preszcator, Mr. &
Mrs. Allen Pfaff and Shirley
attended the Preszcator-Jewitt
wedding at Constance United
Church Friday evening.
Mrs. Nora Fauber of New Car-
