Any way you slice it, it's a lot of people. It was difficult to
gauge but from all appearances the crowd at the 21st Kirkton
Garden Party seemed to be hovering around the 4,000 mark.

Some of the old favorites were
there. Tommy Hunter was
there. And there were new
acts — singers, magicians,
dancers, all providing the
sparkling professional enter-
tainment for which the Kirkton
Garden Party is famous.
A crowd approaching 4,000
dressed in shirt sleeves and
racked up on wooden benches
gave a rousing applause to the
21st annual party.
The weather again smiled as
it has for almost every year.
Few outdoor events have such
a record for clear skies.
Adjudicator Anna McDonald
of CKNX, Wingham said of the
winner of the juvenile contest,
'tile should consider aprofess-
ional career. It's rare to see
such poise and such talent at
his age." She was speaking of
Ross Huff, St. Marys, who play-
ed a piano solo titled, "Hungar-
ian."
The Henderson family of Sea-
forth again walked away with
prizes as they do almost every
year. Diane Henderson came
second with a vocal solo, "Did
You Stop to Pray This Morn-
ing."
Her younger brothers and
sister stole the show and fourth
place with the song, "How Much
is That Doggie in the Window."

Originally started to raise funds for Kirkton social institutions, the Kirkton Garden Party is in its
21st year doing just that. One feature is encouraging local talent and here one young miss tries

Fifth spot went to Brenda

The garden party was started
by the late C. A. Campbell to
provide a fund raising project
for the Kirkton C o m mun i t y
Association. The KC A still runs
it using the money for the li-
