Neighbors and friends gath-
ered at SS 2 Hay School Monday
night to honor Miss Karen Tin-
ney, bride-elect of July, with a
miscenaneogs shower.
The school was decorated
for the occasion by Miss Jane
Russell and MrS. Ted Prouty.
Conteats and games were play-
ed. The address was read by
Miss Kathy Rowe. Miss Lynne
Miss Ada Bernice Grainger,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T,
Mervyn Grainger, Andrew St.,
Exeter, and Robert George Ue-
beule, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Uebele, Kitchener, were
united in marriage in a candle-
light ceremony in Main Street
United Church, Saturday, June
26 at 3 pm,
Baskets of orange blossoms
and carnations formed the set-
ting for the ceremony perfor-
med by Rev. R. S. Hilt assisted
by Rev, H. Snell. Miss Bonnie
McCrae, Dashwood, played the
wedding music and accompanied
the soloist, Miss Vivian Brown,
Kitchener, who sang The Lord's
Prayer and Bless This House.
Given in marriage by her
father the bride wore a floor-
length gown of ivory satin styled
with fitted bodice and bell skirt
with detachable train. A wedding
band headpiece of the ivory silk
held her elbow,length veil and
she carried a white Bible with
Sweetheart roses and English
ivy.
Miss Ruthann Noecker, cou-
sin of the bride of Vernon B.C.
was maid of honor wearing a
street-length dress of cherry
red with matching accessories.
She carried a semi-crescent
of white gladioli.
Jerry Young, Kitchener, was
best man and ushers were Barry
and David Grainger, Exeter.
A reception was held in the
church rooms.
For travelling in Northern
Ontario and touring Ottawa and
Montreal the bride changed to
a two-plece blue suit with ivory
blouse and matching access-
ories.
Mr. and Mrs. Collins will
reside in Kitchener. The bride
is a graduate of the Kitchener-
Waterloo School of Nursing.

The freezing of fruits and
vegetables was the main topic
at the third meeting of Huron-
dale Jolly Jills No. 2 held last
Monday at the home of Mrs.
Robert Down.
The proper use of different
insecticides was discussed and
the proper method of trans-
planting tomatoes, thinning car-
rots, freezing strawberries and
asparagus were demonstrated
by various club members.

Ryder, London, were gowned
alike in floor-length sheaths
of white Italian linen with pink
Chantilly lace top, hats of pink
satin roses and nylon net tulle
and they carried cone-shaped
bouquets of pink carnations and
red roses. Mary Ann Willis,
Exeter, as flower girl wore
white with pink rose sash, pink
ring hat and carried a basket
of red roses and pink carna-
tions.
Douglas Hart, Parkhill, was
best man and ushers were Doug-
las Dowson, Exeter, and Wil-
liam Steeper, brother of the
groom.
A reception was held in Dash-
wood Community Centre where
the bride's mother received
guests in a turquoise Italian
linen ensemble with white ac-
cessories and corsage of dark
pink roses. The groom's mother
chose a light blue embossed
ensemble with white accessor-
ies and corsage of white carna-
tions.
A dance was held in the Centre
later in the evening.
For travelling in the United
States and Muskoka the bride
changed to a navy blue suit with
white accessories and red rose
corsage.
The couple will reside in
Parkhill.

Miss Stella Southcott is a
patient in South Huron Hospi-
tal having suffered a compound
fracture of the right shoulder
following a fall Sunday after-
noon.
Mrs. John Rether and two
children, of Ottawa, are Visi-
ting with Mr. & Mrs. George
Rether.
Mrs. Ann Shriener, of New
York, (the former Ann Alli-
son) is visiting the Allison fam-
ily in Exeter and Grand Bend.
Mr. & Mrs. Don Wilson spent
last week holidaying at a cot-
tage in Bayfield.
Mrs. Irene Hicks and son
William of Clio, Mich., spent
the holiday weekend with friends
and relatives in this vicinity.
Mrs. Ruth Lurges, Detroit,
Mrs. Oren Grace, Gerald and
Ross of Gibraltar, Mich., spent
the weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Almer Passmore and family.
They all attended the Willert
reunion at Riverview Park Sun-
day. Darlene Passmore return-
ed to Gibraltar with her aunt
for a holiday.
Jeff Pearson of Ottawa is
visiting with his grandmother,
Mrs. Laura Harvey.
Mr. Bill Harvey has gradu-
ated from Ontario Vocational
Centre, London, taking the el-
ectronics course and obtain-
ing second class honors.
Bob Harvey and family of
Strathroy visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Leonard Harvey in town.
He has accepted a position with
Union Gas.
Miss Ann Brodie of Toronto
is visiting with her sister and
brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs.
Hector Murray.
Chief Petty Officer and Mrs.
K. L. Taylor and their three
daughters are visiting at the
home of the former's parents,
Mr. & Mrs. Ross Taylor. Chief
PO Ken Taylor, who has been
stationed at Halifax for the
past 20 years, has been tran-
sferred to Ottawa for a one-
year stint.

Church Saturday, June 26 for the
marriage ceremony of Doreen
Isabelle Kenney, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Kenney,
Crediton, and Charles Edward
Browning, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Browning of Crediton,
at 2 p.m.
Rev R. S. Blitz officiated and
Mrs. Robert Graham, Crediton
played the wedding music and
accompanied the soloists, Ro-
bert Graham who sang 0 Pro-
mise Me and T. Harry Hoffman,
Dashwood, who sang We Are
Together. They also sang a duet,
Wedding Prayer.
Given in marriage by her
father the bride wore a floor-
length gown of silk organza over
bridal taffeta. The snuggly fitted
bodice was fashioned with lily
point sleeves and round neckline
edged with pearls. The bouffant
skirt swept to a chapel train.

Cpl and Mrs. Tom Miller and
Danny of RCAF Station Dana, Sask. visited the past 10 days
with the latter's parents, Mr.
& Mrs. Irwin Ford. They left
Monday from Toronto for Ger-
many where Cpl Miller will
be stationed for the next four
years.

At the June meeting of Ex-
eter Kinettes held in the Brit-
ish Mortgage community room
Mrs. Beth Attfield demonstra-
ted hair styles and hairstyling.
Earlier in the evening Presi-
dent Mrs. Claire Hoffman pre-
sented pen and pencil sets to the
top boy and girl in each grade 8
class of Exeter Public School
for the highest mark in mathe-
matics. Receiving the awards
were Linda Bourne, David Tie-
man, Peggy Pryde and Barry
I3aynham.
Mrs. Dave Cross was pre-
sented with a Kinette spoon in
honor of her new daughter,
Helen Blanche. Mrs. Art Clarke
won the draw.

A debate "Resolved that
grandmother was of more help
to her husband than the modern
woman is to her husband" was
the highlight of the historical
research and current event
meeting of Hurondale WI last
Wednesday evening.
The affirmative was support-
ed by Mrs. Almer Passmore
and Mrs. Mac Hodgert while
Mrs. R. Keller and Mrs. Lee
Webber were the challengers.
The judges, Mrs. Ray Francis,
Mrs. Harry Dougall and Mrs.
Harry Strang, gave their de-
cision in favor of the negative.
Mrs. Wilfrid Shapton was the
moderator.
Mrs. James Simpson, RR 1
Kirkton, had an interesting dis-
play of 2,400 buttons of all
shapes and sizes which she
has collected from many differ-
ent countries. She had them
mounted to show them to the
best advantage.
The motto "Life Begins at
70" was discussed by Mrs.
Cecil Rowe and roll call was
answered by €, showing your old-
est article and telling about
it". Mrs. William Kernick pre-
sided for the program and Mrs.
Lloyd Ballantyne commented on
current events.
President Mrs. Lee Webber
conducted the business. A prize
of $5 was voted as a prize at
Exeter Fair in the over '70 class.
Hurondale WI will host An-
derdon WI of Essex County the
first week in October. Forty
members will be shown the
community and otherwise en-
tertained as a get-to-know-your
fellow WI members project.
Hostesses were Mrs. Harold
Patterson, Mrs. William Lam-
port, Mrs. Bruce Tuckey, Mrs,
William Sillery and Mrs. Ben
Case.

with blue. She carried a tiny
basket of white button mums.

lace gown with white access-
ories and pink carnation cor-
sage.
For a wedding trip to Nova
Scotia the bride travelled in
a two-piece suit of pink linen
with white accessories and cor-
sage of a light green orchid.
The couple will reside in
Crediton.
Guests attended the wedding
from Detroit, Howell, Mich.,
St. Thomas, Wallacetown, Shed-
den, Galt, London and this com-
munity.
