HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Exeter Times-Advocate, 1965-07-01, Page 9Proclamation In connection with the nation-wide safety drive during June, the Council of the Town of Exeter has empowered me to proclaim July 5 to 10, 1965 SAFETY WEEK IN EXETER All car owners are urged to check their vehicles for safety and to make the repairs necessary to ensure that no accidents will result from faulty equipment. Our police department will be making spot checks on motor vehicles during the week. Stickers will be awarded owners whose equipment is in safe operating condition. Safety Check For those who wish to have their vehicles approved the police dept will conduct a safety check on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7:30 to 9 o'clock, at the Exeter Arena. ARCHIE pgwAR Mrs. George Bagshaw of Bir- say, Sask., who has been visit- ing with friends and relatives left Wednesday morni ng to spend a few days in Toronto. Mr. Bagshaw left Tuesday after picking up his wife in Toronto in a new car and returning to Birsay after spending several weeks here. Mrs. Oliver Baker's father, Mr, Herbert Beer of Munro died in his 86th yoar Thursday evening. The funeral was held at Mitchell Saturday, June 26, Mrs. Tom Doupe is at the present time a patient in Me- morial Hospital, St. Marys. Ron and Maryanne Marriott of St. Marys spent the weekend with their grandparents, Mr. & Mrs, A. Dewar. Sunday guests with. Mr. and Mrs. A. Local residents wed 50 years Mr. and Mrs. A. 0. (Sandy) Elliot were honored at a dinner at the Little Inn, Bayfield, Wednesday, June 23 given them by their son and daughters, H. J. Elliot, Chatham, Mrs. Larry (Hazel) Snider, Exeter, Mrs. George (Marion) Racey, Baltimore and Mrs. Robert (Jean) Swim, London, to mark their 50th wedding anniversary. In the afternoon they held open house at their cottage, Grand Bend, and in the evening relatives were present from Detroit, Windsor, London, Aylmer, Dutton, Wat- ford, Bothwell and Brussels.
