The Exeter Greys came up
with two victories last week to
bring their record to three wins
and one loss as they walloped
Winthrop 14-5 on Thursday night
and then came from b e hi nd
Tuesday night to defeat Hensall
9-5.
Hensall and Exeter squared
off in Hensall on Monday night
but the game had to be called
because of rain after only one
inning.
On Tuesday, Hensall held a
3-2 lead at the end of two but
the homesters rallied for two
runs in the third to take a
lead they never relinquished.
Exeter went on in the fourth
to plate five big runs which was
all they needed for their third
win, with Pat Down again doing
some fine hurling.
It was the Grey's second vic-
tory over the Hensall club which
scored once in the first, twice
in the second and added one
each in the fourth and sixth
innings.
Shortstop Audrey Pooley
led the winners at the plate
by banging out a homerun and
a double in four trips.
The locals had little trouble
with Winthrop last Thursday
night as they scored 14 runs
on 12 hits to clobber Winthrop
14-5.
Exeter put the game awayfor
good in the third frame when
they scored seven runs on four
hits and four Winthrop errors.
Winthrop committed a total of
nine miscues in the seven inning
tilt.
Wilma Brintnell went the dis-
tance in her first start of the
year and allowed the losers only
five hits.
Once again shortstop Audrey
Pooley led the winners in the
hitting department as she col-
lected a homerun and a single.
Mary Kerr banged out two
singles for the locals while Ann
Jorgensen and Judy Smith added
a homer and single respectiv-
