Mr. and Mrs. Ken Grela and
Rev. Duncan Guest spent Sunday
evening with Rev. and Mrs. John
T. Clarke and family, Browns-
ville on the occasion of the 40th
anniversary of Rev. Claxke's
ordination to the ministry.
A very impressive church
service was held when the large
church at Brownsville was fille
ed to overflowing by the con-
gregations of the three churches
of the pastoral charge and many
other friends. The service was
conducted by Miss F r an c i s
Clarke, Deaconess, Burlington
and the sermon was preached
by Rey. Ewart Clarke, Hamil-
ton, who leaves next week for
his new charge in Brampton.
Rev. Guest, a long time friend
of the ,,Clarkes" had the pri-
vilege of assisting in this ser-
vice.
Following the service a
varied program was given and
greetings received from Rev.
Clarke's three former pastoral
charges, Romney, Mandaumin
and Centralia. Rev, and Mrs.
Clarke were presented with a
well filled purse and Mrs.
Clarke received a bouquet of
roses.
They will leave next week
for their home in Burlington.
SHOWER FOR BRIDE-ELECT
Miss Blanche Rollings, bride
elect, was guest of honor at a
miscellaneous shower, held in
the schoolroom of the United
Church Thursday evening, and,
largely attended by relatives,
neighbors and friends.
Program numbers included
a piano solo by Janet McDowell;
reading, Mrs. Alton Isaac and
ballet number by Marikay Hod-
gins. An address was read by
Marilyn Morgan and the gifts
were presented in baskets car-
ried by the bride elect's two
young nephews. Mrs. Bill Ra-
der of Dashwood and Marilyn
Morgan assisted in displaying
the gifts.
