PEANUT BUTTER SHAKE
Cream 1/4 cup of peanut
butter, 2 tbl of honey and 1/8
tp salt. Gradually beat in 1/2
cup milk. Add 2 1/2 cups more
milk and 1 pint of vanilla ice
cream. Beat until smooth. pour
into chilled glasses.

not make it a cool and satisfy-
ing milk shake. Ice cream and
milk not only provide between-
meal energy but good nutrition
too—an ideal way to insure that
the children and adults in your
family are getting part of their
daily milk allowance.
Milk shakes are easy to pre-
pare and there is no end to the
variations you can achieve with
the variety of ice creams, fruit
and flavorings at your disposal.
Cool and creamy milk shakes
hardly need any enhancing. But
they can be dressed up to add a
gay note. Try serving the milk
shakes in all shapes and sizes
of glasses and don't spare the
garnishes. For example, a
frosted glass adds eye-appeal.
Just dip the rim in slightly
beaten egg white and then dip
in white sugar. For extra color,
spear swizzle sticks with fresh
berries, maraschino cherries
or canned pineapple chunks.

BANANA & STRAWBERRY JAM
4 cups prepared fruit (3 ripe
bananas and about 1 1/2 qts
ripe strawberries)
5 cups (2-1/4 lbs.) sugar
1 box powdered fruit pectin
Mash 3 ripe bananas to afine
pulp. Crush completely, one
layer at a time, about 1 1/2
quarts fully ripe strawberries.
Combine fruits and measure
4 cups into a very large sauce-
pan.
Measure sugar and set aside.
Add powdered fruit pectin to
fruit in saucepan and mix well.
Place over high heat and stir
until mixture comes to a hard
boil. At once stir in sugar.
Bring to a full rolling boil and
boil hard I. minute, stirring

Candlelight ceremony
Cavan United Church, Win-
throp, was the setting for the
double ring ceremony uniting
in marriage Jessie Joan Boyd,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John
Boyd, RR 2 Walton, and John
Richard Oke, son of Mrs. Oke
and the late Lorne Oke, 1113 3
Exeter, on Saturday, June 19
at 3 pm.
Potted white mums with yel-
low bows and candelabra formed
the background for the cere-
mony at which Rev J. C. Brit-
ton, Selforth, officiated. Miss
Jean Hillen, Tillsonburg, played
the wedding music and accom-
panied the soloist Miss Marga-
ret Hillen, RR 2 Walton, who
sang 0 Perfect Love and Wed-
ding Prayer.
Given in marriage by her
father the bride wore a floor-
length gown of silk organza
over tulle and taffeta styled with
fitted bodice with short sleeves
and scalloped neckline, bouf-
fant skirt swept to a brush train,
her bouffant veil was held by
a headpiece of seed pearls and
sequins. She carried a cres-
cent bouquet of yellow roses
and trailing ivy.
Miss Edith Boyd, Kitchener
was maid of honor for her
sister and Miss Faye Little,
London, was bridesmaid. They
were dressed alike in long
gowns of yellow Alencon lace
and organza with scoop neck-
lines, three-quarter length sle-
eves and semi-empire waist-
lines. They wore petal styled
headpieces of yellow organza
with veils. Their flowers were
crescent bouquets of white
shasta mums. Flower girl,
Karen Dale, Clinton, niece of
the bride, wore a yellow nylon
and lace dress, white tulle head-
STRAWBERRY MILK SHAKE
Wash, drain and hull 1 pint
strawberries, then press
through a fine sieve. Stir in 6
tablespoons of sugar and a few
grains of salt and chill. Just
before serving stir strawberry
mixture into 2 1/2 cups milk.
Add 1/2 pint of vanilla or straw-
berry ice creani cut in pieces
and beat with rotary or electric
mixer until ice cream is just
m e 1 te d. Serve immediately.
Makes about 5 cups.

Parish Hall where the bride's
mother received guests in a
pink shantung dress trimmed
with Chantilly lace and corsage
of pink roses. The groom's
mother chose a turquoise arnel
sheath with matching accessor-
ies.
Serviteurs were Misses Mar-
ion Walker, Bonita Green, Gail
Shipman, Barbara Wells and
Paula Barrett.
For travelling in New York
State the bride changed to a
white arnel dress with light
green orchid corsage.
The couple will reside in
Exeter.
Guests attended from Simcoe,
Dashwood, London, Wingham,
and Consecon.
Town official married
MOCHA FLOAT
Mix 5 tp of instant coffee,
2 tbl sugar and a dash of salt.
Gradually blend in 1/2 cup of
milk and stir until smooth. Now
add 5 1/2 cups of milk and 3/4
cup of chocolate syrup. Beat
until well combined. Pour into
chilled glasses and top each
with a scoop of vanilla ice
cream. Makes about 6 3/4 cups,
Additional chocolate syrup may
be poured over each scoop of
ice cream to decorate.

Several from town attended
the diamond wedding celebra-
tion of Mr. and Mrs. J. H.
(Jack) Newcombe of Stratford
Saturday.
Mr. Newcombe is a former
Exeterite, a son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. John Henry New-
combe, Exeter, and is abrother
of Mrs. E. A. Howald, Water-
loo St., town.
Mrs. Newcombe is the daugh-
ter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
George Flintoff, Clinton, and is
a half sister of Mr. William Eth-
erington and Mrs. Percy Mark-
ley, Exeter.
The couple have resided in
Stratford since their marriage
June 21, 1905. Mr. Newcombe
retired from the Stratford Fire
Department in 1945.

of aqua lace with matching hat
and the groom's mother chose
a two-piece green and gold
jersey dress with white hat.
For a honeymoon spent in
New York City the bride chang-
ed to a three-piece knit suit
in lemon yellow with black straw
and patent accessories and cor-
sage of mauve mums and yel-
low roses.
Mr. and Mrs. Weber will re-
side at 14'7 Sanders St. East,
Exeter.
Announce marriage plans
Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert A. Hickson, Windsor, announce plans for
the marriage of their daughter Judith Anne Hickson, Toronto,
and Donald Charles Taylor, Hamilton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross
Taylor, Exeter, the ceremony to take place in Calvary United
Church, Windsor, on July 10 at 3:30 pm. Both are graduates
of the University of Western Ontario.

is the son of Mrs. Weber and
the late Peter Weber, Saska-
toon.
Pink gladioli and white
daisies formed the floral set-
ting for the event and Organ-
ist Lawrence Wein furnished
the wedding music and accom-
panied the soloist Mrs. Howard
Phelps of Detroit, cousin of
the bride, who sang a solo "0
Promise Me" and Mr. and Mrs.
Phelps who sang a duet "The
Lord's Prayer".
Given in marriage by her
brother Harold J. Taylor, Exe-
ter, the bride wore a floor-
length fitted gown of white peau
de sole with bateau neckline
trimmed with bow at the back.
The giwn was topped with a lace
jacket with elbow-length sleev-
es. A wedding ring crown held
her shoulder-length veil and she
carried a cascade of pink roses,
stephanotis and ivy.

ding Prayer and() Perfect Love.
Mr. Larry Snider, Exeter,
was best man and Ken Gent-
tner ushered.

taffeta with lily point sleeves
and a high scalloped neckline.
An insertion of Chantilly lace
trimmed the full bouffant skirt
and the bodice. A floral head-
dress with matching fabric and
tulle leaves held her four-tiered
scalloped illusion veil. She car-
ried a cascade of 12 red roses
with white carnations.
Mrs. Barbara Snider, Exeter
was matron of honor wearing
pink organza with bell skirt.
She carried a cascade of white
carnations with blue r ibb on
trim. Miss Carol Ann Dunsford,
Simcoe, was bridesmaid in
blue peau de sole with matching
hat and carried a cascade of
white carnations with pink rib-
bon trim.
