Clean up on
clear outs!
It seems preposterous to
Make $1100 out of what other
people have no use for and dis-
card but that is just what hap-
pened Saturday afternoon at the
rummage sale sponsored by the
Hospital Auxiliary in the Legion
Hall.
Good weather, a good crowd
and good spirits all added up
to make a successful sale-in
fact the best yet. The furniture
auctioned by Alfred Smith of
Crediton brought $163.95.
Many funny incidents happen
in the rush for bargains. One
of the workers bought some
egg cups but hasn't seen them
since-no doubt they were pick-
ed up and resold. One man
brought his wife to buy her a
new spring bonnet. Another cus-
tomer was asked the second
time for the price of a lamp-
shade he had purchased.
While it is hard work there
is fun too. One of the workers
remarked when it was all over
,,I'm exhausted but I wouldn't
have missed it for all the
world."
Co-conveners for the rum-
mage sale were Mrs. Fred
Dobbs and Mrs. R. E. Pooley
with a committee of Mrs.Rich-
ard Dickies, Miss RuthSkinner,
Mrs. Gerald Z wicker, Mrs.
Ward Fritz and Mrs. H. L.
Sturgis.
