The Elimville CGIT met Sun-
day evening at the church when
they had former members and
leaders as guests.
Miss Ava Elford, president
had charge of the meeting. It
'was decided to send the col-
lection to the "Indonesian
Fund" and have a Brazilian
coffee party in Easter holidays.
Miss Sharon Fletcher led the
worship assisted by Miss Bev-
erley Passmore and Mary Ellen
Prance, Mrs. Howard Pym gave
the Bible study on Miriam, a
woman of the Bible. Miss Mar-
garet Hunkin led in a singsong
and Miss Susan Allen conducted
two contests. Lunch was served.

Significant event for two couples
Friday night's At-Home dance was a significant event for both Principal and Mrs. H. L. Sturgis and
board chairman Ken and Mrs. Johns. Both couples were in the receiving line and it marked the last
time the Principal and his wife will greet dance guests at the door as he retires this year. For Mr.

present.
Mrs. Douglas Gill conducted
the opening worship. Mrs. Le-

bible study on Romans 12. Mrs.
Wm. Blewitt had the study chap-
ter from God's Frozen People
on "What is the Church?"
The group decided to have
a "foodless foodsale" as their
project. Lunch was served by
Mrs. Art Heist and Mrs. Fred
Willert.

ter Hospital where he had been

tended the funeral Thursday
afternoon of Linda Marie Mar-
shall, five and one-half month
infant daughter of Mr. & Mrs.
Stanley Marshall, Denfield from
the Haskett funeral home, Lu-
can.
Mrs. Cecil Squire's father,
the late Mr. Bristol Holden,
St. Marys, died last week and
the funeral was held Monday
from the L. A. Ball funeral
chapel, St. Marys.
Wm French, Gerald Hern,
Wm Johns and Arnold Damen
motored to Woodstock Wednes-
day and were entertained by
the "Oxford Cattle Breeders
Association".
Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis,
Saintsbury, were Saturday
visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Cleve
Pullman.
Earl French and his school
class from Medway High School
took in the special tour Thurs-
day at the Ridgetown Agricul-
tural College.
The barn on the farm owned
by Wm Damen on No. 23 High-
way, one and one-half miles
south of Whalen and formerly
the Powe farm was completely
destroyed by fire early Satur-
day evening. A quantity of hay,
grain also cattle and hogs were
lost in the blaze. The loss is
covered by insurance. Cause of
fire is unknown.
Mr. & Mrs. Russell Parkin-
son and Mrs. Evelyn White,
London visited Sunday with Mr.
Frank Parkinson and Glenn.

The Crediton WI meeting was
held in the Community Centre
Wednesday Feb. 24. The guest
speaker of the evening was Miss
Marilyn Marshall of Kirkton
who spoke and showed slides on
her trip to the British Isles
with the Junior Farmers group.
Also on the program was a
piano duet by Mrs. Irvin Fink-
beiner and Mrs. Emery Fahr-
ner. The motto "The smallest
good deed is better, than the
grandest good intention" was
given by Mrs. Gordon Morlock.
Current events on education
was given by Mrs. Jack Mor-
rissey. Linda Haugh gave an
accordion solo.
The president Mrs. Lorne
Hodge presided for the busi-
ness. It was decided to make
plans for an outing for all the
members. 4-H Club leaders for
the new club will be Mrs. Cliff-
ord Kenney and Mrs. Harvey
Hodgins. The WI was asked for
more representatives to the Ex-
eter Fair Board. Those added
were Mrs. Sam King, Mrs.
Lorne Hodge and Mrs. Bruce
Shapton.
A delegate is to attend the
Officers Conference in May. It
was decided to wait another
month to complete collection of
Canada Packers labels. The
East group are planning a
euchre for March.
Hostesses for the evening
were Mrs. Ross Haugh, Mrs.
Gordon Morlock, Mrs. Irvin
Finkbeiner, Mrs. Emery Fehr-
ner and Mrs. Melvin King.

Mrs. Rupert Williams is re-
cuperating at home after a fall,
hitting the bumper of a car
while walking across the street
In London.
The blizzard of the past week
piled great banks of snow and
paralyzed all traffic and closed
schools. Many social events
and church meetings had to be
postponed. Many persons going
to London to work each day
were forced to spend the Thurs-
day night in the city with friends
and relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Howe
received word last week of the
death of Mrs. Leslie Wyns, 21,
(the former Penny Flewelling)
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
liam Flewelling of Etobicoke.
Mrs. Wyns, a young model,
scrambled to safety on the
median after a minor accident
on Toronto's Gardiner Ex-
pressway and then was crushed
by a skidding tanker as her
husband watched.
The giant fuel oil tanker jack-
knifed twice trying to slow down
and go around the crash scene.
Mrs. Wyns died in the hospital
two hours later.
The Flewellings were former
residents of Centralia.

Tuesday evening of last week
Jackie England and Marilyn Gal-
loway were hostesses to a mis-
cellaneous shower for Mrs.
Richard Noble (the formerJac-
quiline Sharp). A goodly array
of gifts were opened following
a couple of bridal -contests and
a social time was enjoyed by
all.
