Drop in or phone collect 262.2714 Thieves take dog licenses Hensall personals Thieves broke into the Hen- sall arena Monday night and took cigarettes, cigars, gum, bars and pop valued at $35 from the booth operated by Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Ferguson. Following a curling match Monday night it is thought the thieves hid in the building, Clerk Earl Campbell's office was also entered and some blank cheques and dog licences taken. Chief of police E. R. Davis and OPP John Wright of Exeter are investigating. VVhittaker, 89, of Embro who passed away in Victoria Hos- pital, London, Friday, Febru- ary 26. Burial was in Dorches- ter Union Cemetery. Mr. George Ingram is a pa- tient in St. Joseph's Hospital London, where he underwent surgery Tuesday. Mrs. R. M. Peck is visiting with relatives in Toronto, Miss Cindy Parker spent the weekend with her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Harold Parker and patsy, Mr. Frank liarburn is re- ceiving treatment in South Hur- on Hospital, Exeter. Mr. & Mrs. Garnet Whittaker and family were at Embro Mon- day attending the funeral of the former's father, Mr. George Lunch was served including an anniversary cake. HEBER DAVIS SAINTSBURY Mrs. Maurice MacDonald, Lucan, gave her home Tuesday afternoon for the WA meeting of St. Patrick's Church. Pre- sident Mrs. Tom Kooy opened the meeting with the worship period assisted by Mrs. Harry Carroll and Mrs. Heber Davis. Plans were made for a St. Patrick's dessert euchre to be held in the Parish Hall March 17 at two o'clock. The day of prayer service will be held at the home of Mrs. Hugh Davis. A mystery prize donated by Mrs. Clarence Davis was won by Mrs. Tom Kooy. Mr. & Mrs. Laird Mickle attended the South Huron Dis- trict High School "At Home" in Exeter Saturday evening. Mr. Mickle is a member of the High School Board. Hensall Kinsmen and Kinettes jointly entertained the patients at the Ontario Hospital, Coder- ich, Wednesday evening, Febru- ary 24. Bingo was played and prize s awarded. Lunch was served by the Kinettes. World Day of Prayer will be observed Friday March 5 at 3 pm in Carmel Presbyterian Church with the theme "What doth the Lord Require?" UCW unit 4 will meet this Thursday at 2:30 pm with Mrs. S. Roobol and Mrs. L. Mickle in charge of program. Mrs. H. Currie will bring the devotional message. Hensall WI will hold its meet- ing Wednesday, March 10 at 8:15 and the theme is "Home Economics and Health". Names of the treasure hunt winners at Drysdale Crest Hardware in Hensall were Mrs. Wm. Local Co-op to buy Groups join second mobile unit for session Products Of General Motors F Frigidaire Sales with Service Drysdale Crest Hardware DIAL 262-2015 HENSALL At the annual meeting of Hen- sall District Co-Operative held in the Legion Hall, Hensall, Tuesday, Feb. 23 attended by approximately 100 members, sales for 1964 were reported at $899,880.00 with $38,076.00 in net savings to be distributed to the members at 3 1/2% deferred patronage. During 1964 $10,000 was returned to the members in cash and a new mobile feed mill purchased for $28,000. The co-operative has an agreement to purchase a second mobile mill and it expected this second unit will be in operation in a few days. George Dowson of RR 1 Varna was elected to the Board of Directors to replace Glenn Weido who has fulfilled his six- year term. Guest speaker for the evening Mr. Don Slinger of UCO Re- search Dept. showed slides of United Co-Operatives Farms where research was being car- ried on in the beef, hog and poultry feeds in order to ensure the Ontario Farmers that they are able to secure the very best in feed requirements dur- ing the ever changing farm economy. Mr. Edgar Rathwell, president of the Board, was in the chair and at the conclusion of the meeting lunch was served. UCW unit 2 entertained as their guests members of Unit 4 at the March meeting Monday with Leader Mrs. Edison For- rest presiding. The worship was in charge of Mrs. Dave Kyle, a combined devotional and Bible study, a recorded sermon by Dr. Peter Gordon White, which was given at the 1962 United Church lay- men's conference at Elgin House. Mrs. Harry Hoy reported for the visiting committee and read a poem recited to her by Miss 0. Prior, a patient at Queensway Nursing Home when she visited the nursing home. This group will be in charge of the nursery and flowers for the month of March. A recreational period of cro- kinole was enjoyed and the win- ners were Mrs. Edison Forrest, Mrs. Lorne Hay, Mrs. Byran Kyle; Mrs. Laird Mickle won the floating prize. Brucefield lady 81 years old Mrs. Elizabeth Anderson, Brucefield, celebrated her 81st birthday Sunday, February 28, spending the day with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Anderson, RR 2 Hen- sall, who celebrated the event with her together with Mr. and Mrs. Doug Mann and family of Hensall, Mr. Keith Anderson of Essex, and Miss Ann Dennome of London. Plans were finalized for the Shamrock Ball Friday March 19 in the Community Centre with music by Jeffery Downs and his orchestra of London. A smorgasbord lunch will be served at midnight. Friday 210 pupils at Hensall Public School enjoyed a holiday owing to severe weather condi- tions. Principal Mr. Robert Reaburn stated he has been principal of the school for 12 years and this is the first time he recalls the school being closed due to weather elements and road conditions. Mrs. M. Glen dies in Clinton Mrs. Mary Glenn, 67, of RR 5 Clinton passed away Monday in Clinton. Public Hospital. She was the former Mary Alice MacLaren, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert MacLaren Sr. and widow of Edward C. Glenn. Surviving is a son W. Robert RR 3 Clinton, sister, Mrs. Chester (Alice) Neilans, Lon- don; brothers, R. Y. MacLaren, Hensall, and W. A. MacLaren, Goderich. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Beattie funeral home Clinton with burial in Clinton Cemetery. Former resident weds in Toronto The wedding was solemnized February 20 at St. Basil's Church, Toronto, of Margaret Stewart McAr ee, Toronto, (wid- ow of the late J. V. McAree) and Dr. Colin Angus Chisholm of Toronto, formerly of Kirk- land Lake. Mrs. Chisholm formerly of this district was born in Exeter and was a graduate of Seaforth Collegiate.
