The Grade 13 class once
again wrote their own play for
commencement. The play this
year centered around the coun-
cil of Port Blake in the midst
of their monthly meeting.
Members of the council in-
cluded: mayor (Jim Coates),
reeve — Coral Reeve (myself),
deputy-reeve -- Pat Okay (Gary
Scholl), councillors—Fanny
Fairweather (Susan Dinney),
Granny Klampett (CarolynSim-
mons), Clyde MacGregor (John
Snell), I. M. Honest (Larry
Idle), Clem Kadiddlehopper
(Jim Carscadden) and Lizzie
Taylor (Bill Dinnin) who was
too cheap to hire a babysitter
so she had brought her baby
son (Eric Wolfe) to the council
meeting.
The first petition brought to
the council was one by retired
Farmer McBean (Wayne Ratz)
whose wife had just inherited
her father's hens and who now
wanted to build a henhouse in
the middle of town.
Next a delegation (Wayne
Baynham, Valerie Desjardine,
Cathy Scene) entered to see the
school board and after putting
forth all their complaints they
were told that this was a council
meeting and that the school
board did not meet until the
next night.
Now the town police entered;
Mac, Huck and Dyke (Gary Ford,
Glenn Shipman and Art Horrell)
to raid the premises since it
had been reported that there
was drinking going on. The po-
lice agreed to dismiss the
drinking charge if the council
agreed to give them new uni-
forms or at least thread to sew
on the patches.
Three brothers (Jim Neil,
Ted Mock and Steve Elder) now
entered carrying their dead
brother (Ron Motz) who they
wished to burn since the ground
was too cold and he was be-
ginning to stink. The council
agreed to convert the theatre
into a public crematorium.
An old man on crutches (Shir-
ley Genttner) now entered to
complain about the condition
of the streets and how he in-
jured hithSelf when he fell into
a pot hole. The council decided
to use the ashes from crema-
torium to fill the holeS.
