The program was varied with
songs, recitations and exercis-
es by the beginners classes.
Carol Hendrick and Judy Smith
favored with piano and accor-
dion solos respectively. The
Ambassadors In Christ class
with teacher Alvin Finkbeiner
in charge gave two special num-
bers in song.
A play entitled "Christmas
In Deed" was given by the in-
termediate boys and girls under
the direction of Mrs. Allan
Finkbeiner. The "Story of the
First Christmas" was portray-
ed by the primary classes di-
rected by Mrs. Harold Fahner
and Mrs. Lloyd Lamport. Rev.
A. M. Schlenker and Sunday
School Superintendent Ross
Haugh were the chairmen for the
evening's entertainment.

The Christmas meeting of the
UCW was held Tuesday evening
in the church basement which
had been decorated for the
Christmas season.
The meeting opened with quiet
music by Mrs. Ted Insley. Mrs.
Ira McCurdy, the president,
gave a Christmas reading. The
worship service was in charge
of Miss Jean Copeland. She was
assisted by Mrs. John Rodd,
Mrs. Nelson Ernst and Mrs.
Fred Parkinson. Mrs. Harry
Webber,Mrs. Oscar Brine and
Mrs. Jon Butters gave Christ-
mas readings. Mrs. Leonard
Thacker favoured with a solo.
Mrs. Don Brine showed pic-
tures taken this past summer
while on a trip to Eastern Can-
ada and also several local pic-
tures.
Articles for baby layette
which are to be sent to the
Saugeen Indian Reserve, were
brought to the meeting.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Brine and
Cheryl and Miss Jean Copeland
motored to Southampton Sunday
afternoon and de livered the
white gifts and a clothing bale
to the Saugeen Indian Reserve.
PERSONALS
Friday evening the Crediton
United Church Sunday School
held its Christmas program
consisting of recitations, exer-
cises, guitar solo, choruses and
the Christmas story in panto-
mine by the Christian helpers
class.
Santa arrived following a
Christmas film and treatswere
distributed to the children.
Mr. & Mrs. Roy Finkbeiner,
Miss Lillian Haist and Mr.
Emery Fahrner attended the
funeral of Miss Lillie Hoffman
in London this past week.
Sunday visitors with Mr. &
Mrs. Lorne Preszcator and
boys were Mr. & Mrs. Robert
Preszcator and Robbie of Lon-
don.
The Christmas meeting of
the Crediton WI was held in
the Crediton Community Centre
Wednesday, December 16.
Mrs. Ed. Lamport was chair-
lady for the program. The motto
"When you feel like complain-
ing, take a look at your bless-
ings" was given by Mrs. Earl
Shapton. Mrs. Earl Neil gave
a reading entitled "What Mrs.
Trivers would like for Christ-
mas". This was followed by a
reading, "Our Christmas Mes-
sage" by Mrs. Lamport. As a
closing number the group put
on a Christmas play the cast
being Mrs. Earl Neil, Mrs.
Russell King, Mrs. Donald Da-
vey, Susan and Sharon Davey,
Mrs. Ed. Lamport, Mrs. Earl
Shapton and Mrs. Wm. Gaiser.
Each member was to have
brought one dozen cookies and
the recipe which were sold with
the money going to the Good
Cheer. A request for vases was
made for South Huron Hospital.
Events planned for January
included a euchre and a visit
to Huronview. The husbands are
to be entertained at the next
meeting.
Hostesses were Mrs. E.
Lamport, Mrs. E. Neil, Mrs.
R. King, Mrs. D. Davey, Mrs.
E. Shapton and Mrs. W, Geiser. South End Service
