His report showed that con- siderable work had been done to improve the locations dur- ing the year and the report from the conservation areas advisory board showed more is planned for 1965. Several picnic tables and bar- becues were added and more area was seeded with grass. Trees were planted at the Mor- rison Dam and dead brush and trees were removed from there and also at the Lucan park. Fences and parking areas were added at both Rock Glen and Thedford, as well as the Port Frank area. Plans for 1965 call for the cutting out of diseased elm and thorn trees at the Morrison Dam and construction of a na- ture trail and swamp board- walk around the perimeter for the area. A new storage shed will be erected and a new plantation will be prepared behind the wild life forage area. The wildlife advisory board has secured two geese for spring release at the reservoir and attempts are being made to procure more geese from the department of lands and forests for propagation stock. Most of these projects will be carried out under the Winter Works program. Steps will be erected along the nature trail at. Rock Glen and the pool below the water- fall will be cleaned out as will the dead trees in the gorge. 0O f Q5 6-ree C)1 tf./ Holiday time is here, and we wish you the best of cheer this Yule. Thanks to you our Christmas has been a happy one . . . serving you has been the great- est treat of all. Tears dry Dear Sir, I was almost in tears after reading excerpts from the press release of the Ontario Bean Dealer Association in your Dec. 17 issue in which they state that the "threat of being put out of business by the Bean Board's Company is a constant threat and has all but stopped develop- ment of further receiving, pro- cessing and handling facili- ties". However I managed to control myself long enough to remem- ber all those big round con- crete things that have been springing up near the three bean dealers in Hensall. At another part of their re- lease they state: "The dealers association believes in f air competition on an even basis, but cannot stand up against the Unfair subsidized direct com- petition of the Ontario Bean Growers Ltd." They then go on to admit that the company has not been subsidized for two years, thus We are left with the "fair competition on an even basis" bit. The dealers seem to have forgotten that they are able to spread their overhead and labor force over several crops (feed and fertilize* and the company is a ohe crop opera.tiOn, When a group of dealers put out such a patently Malt state- ment one wonders whether there is any thing of substance in the whole press release. My tears are now entirely forgotten and I feel sure that the members of the Ontario Bean Dealers Association Will hve a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous 1966. tours sincerely, M. L. Davidson.
