Pride of Huron Rebekah L od ge held their Christmas party last Wednesday night when Mrs. Gilbert Johns Presided for a program including a sing- song of carols led by Mrs. William Cann, solos by Sandra Skinner and by Mrs. Bruce Cann, a short humorous play by Elinwille girls, Frances Skinner, Margaret Johns, Kathy Hern, Janet Skinner and Sharon Fletcher and a medley of Christmas songs played on the piano by Mrs. Philip Johns. As one of her selections Mrs. Cann sang "Silent Night" in costume and in the Dutch lang- uage. Rebekahs will have a party for the members' secret sis- ters after the next meeting January 6. and matching rosette bead- pieces. They carried cascade houquets of white baby mums,. holly and ivy. Best Marl was Douglas Hagey, brother of the groom, Preston, and ushers were Bruce Savage, Scarborough, and Alex Chor- niak, Prantferd, A reception was .held in the church where the bride's moth- er received gueSts in a two.- piece dress of all-wool double knit jacquard weave in tones of beige and brown, dark brown accessories and corsage of pink carnations. The groom's moth- er assisted wearing a dress of champagne Chantilly lace over taffeta, brown accessories and corsage of golden carnations. The honeymoon is being spent in New York City, the bride travelling in a three-piece cos- tume of gold metallic brocade, black accessories and corsage of tangerine carnations. The draw was made at the Christmas party for Sorority members and their husbands at the Dufferin Hotel, Centralia, last Tuesday night. Mrs. Lillian Blair, Exeter, and her family held a Christmas Ladies contribute to missionaries The Exeter Pentecostal WMC met at the parsonage Thursday for the annual business and Christmas meeting. A number of carols were sung followed by prayer by several ladies. Mrs. Keith Mc- Laren contributed a reading and Rev. L, H. Johnston pre- sented a message based on three women of the Bible and their ministry of helpfulness issuing a challenge to the WMC group. Mrs. Edgar Cudmore report- ed $44'7 had been given this year and used in missionary work. A box of new and used clothing is being sent to a family in the northern area. Gifts were exchanged and of- ficers were elected for the coming year. President is Mrs. K. McLaren; vice-presidents, Mrs. Gerald Hamilton and Mrs. B. Cann; secretary-treasurer, Mrs. E. Cudmore; assistant, Mrs. E. Miller. gathering at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Ron Fletcher Sunday. Sgt. & Mrs. James Low and daughters, Penny and Wendy of Ottawa are spending Christmas with Mrs. T. M. Dinney. Misses Sandra Snider, Gail Farquhar, Bonnie Turvey and Peggy McLaughlin, William Miss Christena Shaw was maid of honor for her sister and bridesmaids were Mrs. Bryan Bonthron, Toronto, and Mrs. Mervin Shute, RR 1 Kirk- ton. They wore red velvet gowns in street-length and styled si- milarly to the bride's. Three red velvet roses formed the headdress for each attendant, They carried white mums, ste- phanotis with green and silvered pine. Dean McKnight, Toronto, was best man and Gerald Bell, Hen- sall, and Dale Turvey, Exeter, ushered guests. A reception was held at the Colonial Inn, Grand Bend. For travelling the bride changed to a woollen tweed suit in winter white trimmed with brown and a gold coat. The couple will live in Lon- don. It was decided to help a needy family in the district as a Christmas service. Rev. John C. Boyneofficiated at the ceremony and William Bettger, Goderich, f ur n i shed the wedding music and Miss Sandi Morrow, London, was soloist. Given in marriage by her father the bride chose a floor- length gown of white peau de soie with shallow scoop neck- line and elbow-length sleeves. Her controlled skirt swept into a short train accented by two peau de soie roses at the waist- line. Her shoulder-length bouf- fant veil of French silk illusion was held in place by a wedding ring headpiece of material matching her gown. She carried a bouquet of cymbidium orchids, stephanotis and ivy. Age-old yet ever-new is the tradition of spreading Christmas cheer.
